Chapter 8 - YGS [8]

Facing Hu Tao's challenge, Luya nodded with a smile.

"Haha! I accept your challenge, Master Hu. If you defeat me, I'll give you this Dark Magician Girl!"

Hu Tao giggled, curving her ringed fingers oddly to cover her mouth as she laughed:

"Is that so~ Shopkeeper, you're quite confident!"

"Hehe~ Your personal treasure Dark Magician Girl—this Hall Master will definitely take it!"

Luya was delighted at her demand for a Duel.

It was the perfect chance—by dueling Hu Tao, he could also explain the basics of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duels to the onlookers.

He grinned widely—Hu Tao truly was his lucky star.

Not only did she bring money and customers, but she even volunteered as a beginner opponent! For this match, Luya decided to use a Starter Deck for a simple Duel.

Its strength was only like Yu-Gi-Oh!'s earliest days.

As for stronger, more complex Decks, he wasn't planning to use them yet… some cards were too unbalanced, not suitable for popularizing the game.

In his system's storage, Luya possessed every card from Blue Star's Yu-Gi-Oh!—

That said… those cards were for his use only, and couldn't be freely given away or sold.

As for the Blue-Eyes White Dragons—the champion's prize for the Liyue Harbor Duel Tournament… They were the four copies his grandfather had gifted him when he inherited the card shop, along with the five pieces of Exodia the Forbidden One.

The system had carried over the original series' setting: only four Blue-Eyes White Dragons existed in the world. Since only three copies could be used, Seto Kaiba had torn one apart.

Now, all four were in Luya's possession.

Which meant the shop's boosters couldn't contain Blue-Eyes White Dragon. While not the strongest card, in terms of rarity, it was unmatched.

Perfect as a priceless collectible.

"Hey, hey, hey~ Shopkeeper, stop standing there—Hurry and hand over! The! Packs!!"

"Roar!!"

Hearing Hu Tao's impatient calls, Luya snapped back to reality.

He quickly prepared 109 booster packs for her.

"Master Hu, since it's the grand opening today, everything's 10% off. Counting the one you already opened, that's 109 packs."

Hu Tao's eyes gleamed with anticipation at the sight.

"Open them!!!"

"Open them all!!!"

Now Hu Tao was showing the traits of a budding gambler… eager to see what treasures she might pull!

As Luya placed the 109 packs before her, the crowd grew excited. Whether on Blue Star or in Teyvat, people loved a spectacle.

They began chatting:

"As expected of Master Hu!"

"So rich!!!"

"Whoever marries her will never worry about food or clothes."

"You think Master Hu can win?"

"Hard to say…"

"Maybe her talent is so monstrous she'll crush the Shopkeeper."

"True, she even pulled a Legend card!"

"She might really have a chance to beat him."

"I want that Dark Magician Girl so badly…"

"Summoned, she'd look incredible!"

Amidst the chatter, Hu Tao began tearing open packs. The sound of booster packs being opened echoed—

"Normal…"

[Dark Assailant] Level 4│1200 ATK / 1200 DEF

[Armed with the Psycho Sword, this sinister assassin rules the bad land.]

"Normal…"

[Ryu-Kishin] Level 3│1000 ATK / 500 DEF

[A very elusive creature that looks like a harmless statue until it attacks.]

"Normal…"

[Winged Dragon, Guardian of the Fortress #1] Level 4│1400 ATK / 1200 DEF

[A dragon commonly found guarding mountain fortresses. Its signature attack is a sweeping dive from out of the blue.]

A faint blue glow spread around a card.

An excited voice rang out—

"Rare~"

[King of the Skull Servants] Level 1│DARK│Zombie│0 ATK / 0 DEF

[Effect: The original ATK of this card is the combined number of "King of the Skull Servants" and "Skull Servant" in your GY x 1000. When this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the GY: You can banish 1 other "King of the Skull Servants" or 1 "Skull Servant" from your GY; Special Summon this card.]

"Normal…"

[Mystical Elf] Level 4│800 ATK / 2000 DEF

[A delicate elf that lacks offense, but has a terrific defense backed by mystical power.]

Five cards per pack, and this time…

Hu Tao didn't hit a single Legend-rarity card with godlike luck as before.

She only pulled one Rare monster card, which was the guaranteed minimum—each pack contained at least one Rare.

Fortunately… It was another King of the Skull Servants, whom Hu Tao could actually use. So it wasn't a loss. Though unlike last time, she hadn't pulled a Legend-rarity orange card right away—

Anyways, with another King of the Skull Servants in hand, Hu Tao was thrilled.

"Hehehe!"

She laughed gleefully, holding up the new King of the Skull Servants between her fingers.

Confidently, she grinned at Luya:

"Another King of the Skull Servants—my luck is great! This Hall Master already knows how to build a Deck!"

"Hum hum~"

She placed her hands on her hips and puffed out her chest.

"As for victory in this Duel game!"

"Hehe~"

"Everyone, just wait and see this Hall Master claim it!"
