Chapter 29 - YGS [29]

Once the customers had calmed down, Luya continued explaining the Duel Disk.

"This Duel Disk has zones for Deck, Graveyard, and cards on the Field." He pointed to the areas as he spoke.

"When folded, it straps onto the arm. Once deployed, five Monster Zones appear on top. Below each Monster Zone is a slot for Spell and Trap Zones. You can Set or activate Spell and Trap Cards here."

However, Duel Disks weren't as convenient as the shop's Duel Stages since the shop's Duel Stages had voice-controlled AI to automate many actions. By speaking commands, the Stage could automatically handle searches, Spell/Trap activations, and more.

Meanwhile, the Duel Disk required manually pressing the designated button to activate Spells and Traps, and searching cards also had to be done manually.

Though less powerful than a Duel Stage, it offered portability that Duel Stages could never match.

Luya's detailed explanation had Hu Tao and Zhongli nodding repeatedly.

"This Duel Disk is really convenient!"

"Shopkeeper! Can you sell me one?"

"This Hall Master wants to study it carefully!!!"

Seeing Hu Tao's excitement, Luya shook his head.

"For now, the Duel Disks aren't for sale. But… I can gift Hall Master Hu a pair."

He only had ten in total. After giving Hu Tao a pair, he would have eight left.

That said, since Hu Tao was well-known across Liyue Harbor and always on the move, gifting her Duel Disks doubled as promotion for Yu-Gi-Oh!

Plus, Xiangling was her close friend. Wanmin Restaurant had far more customers than Wangsheng Funeral Parlor… Hu Tao would surely pull Xiangling into the game as well.

The spread of Yu-Gi-Oh! would accelerate.

Hearing that Luya would gift her Duel Disks, Hu Tao's eyes sparkled with joy.

"Great~ Thank you, shopkeeper! If you ever need this Hall Master, just ask!"

As she spoke, Luya pulled a pair of Duel Disks from behind the counter and handed them over.

Hu Tao eagerly strapped them on, mimicking Luya. For the first time since her grandfather's passing, she felt someone showing her unconditional kindness. Though Zhongli looked after her too, this felt different…

She had only known Luya for two days, yet she already felt happy around him, her work worries melting away.

"Dueling really is fun!"

As the 77th Hall Master of Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, Hu Tao had no family left. Despite her position and wealth, she still felt lonely.

However, studying the rules and building decks had brought her real joy these past few days. She thought—how wonderful it would be if she could duel at Luya's shop every day…

Still, she could only retire after naming the 78th Hall Master. At just sixteen, that was a long way off.

After finishing with Hu Tao, Luya resumed teaching the customers how to use Duel Disks.

He retrieved the very first card from his system space: [Dark Magician Girl].

Blue-robed, blonde-haired, and bashful, she held her staff shyly…

[Dark Magician Girl] Level 6│ATK 2000 / DEF 1700

╵Gains 300 ATK for every "Dark Magician" or "Magician of Black Chaos" in the GY.

Luya placed her card onto the Duel Disk's Summon Zone. With a success chime, all eyes turned to the Duel Disk.

In an instant, the yellow-haired, short-robed mage girl appeared, summoned to the Field.

Her eyes shone with bashfulness, even more pure and lovely than her card art. Pale as snow, her skin glowed like carved jade. Her golden hair cascaded down, framing her face, her long legs clutching a glowing staff brimming with mysterious magic.

The crowd was ecstatic.

"This little Duel Disk really can summon monsters!"

"Wow!"

"This is too convenient!"

"With Duel Disks, we can duel anywhere!"

"So jealous of Hall Master Hu…!"

Basking in the envy, Hu Tao smiled with joy.

With the demonstration complete, Luya drafted a rental contract for two customers.

Each Duel Disk costs 100,000 Mora per day to rent, with a 1,000,000 Mora repair fee if damaged.

The system assured Luya that Duel Disks left in the shop overnight would auto-repair, good as new. So he never had to worry about damage. If customers broke them, he would still profit from the repair clause.

Soon, the two customers each paid 100,000 Mora and went outside to duel. Others, eager to watch, followed.

Luya preferred it that way—space inside was limited, dueling outside advertised the shop, and it prevented quarrels from spoiling the store's atmosphere.

Hu Tao, trying out the Duel Disks, found them simple but less smart than the Duel Stage.

Still, she resolved to challenge Xiangling that evening—with the Duel Disks, and with dinner included.

"Oh, right! Shopkeeper! Are the 1000 packs I pre-ordered yesterday ready?"
