"What are you looking at, bitch?"
Those were the first words William ever spoke to her when they met.
It was shortly after the student orientation. Emma had found herself staring at him, curiosity getting the better of her, only for the Curse to twist his words into something needlessly harsh. Under its influence, William could barely control the venom in his speech.
His first impression of her was that she was a strange girl who simply stood there and took his insults without talking back.
And to Emma, William was nothing more than a man destined to meet his doom because of that very trait.

Emma asked herself that question on the day his fiancée slapped him.
Driven by curiosity, she changed her form and secretly followed him, expecting to see the arrogant man she had come to know. She expected anger. Perhaps curses, bitterness, or some attempt to preserve the pride he carried so stubbornly.
