Chapter 10 - Ch 10: Wrong Person! - Part 1

There were many times in my life when I had to head to a dungeon under mysterious circumstances.

But never in my life had I ever been kidnapped like this and then taken to the dungeon.

Moreover, my kidnappers did not even seem like kidnappers, but more like innocent kids that were caught in the aftermath of what happened.

"Excuse me! I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I think there has been a misunderstanding here. I am not a hunter. I am a PC Cafe worker from across the street."

I decided to clarify the situation before things got worse.

The group that forced me into the car looked at me suddenly with an uncomfortable look on their faces and the one who had grabbed my arm to pull me along looked red-faced.

The poor alpha looked like he was about to have a stroke and I was almost afraid that he would lose his temper.

However, I lucked out with these people. The alpha took a deep breath and calmed himself down before he could do something foolish.

"I-I see-! I apologize for that. I did not realize…but what to do. We really need to head to the dungeon, so we cannot turn back around. And I don't want to be irresponsible enough to drop an omega right in the middle of the way either."

Not only the alpha but the others around me looked uncomfortable as well.

I suddenly felt sorry for them.

After all, mistakes could happen at any time and anyone could make them. Also, these people were lucky that they did not grab any random person, but a top hunter like me.

However, that did not mean I was going to let it slide.

After spending closer to a year in a dungeon, I had no intention of heading to another one any time soon.

"Ah, that's fine. You can just drop me on the way and I will find some way to head back home-"

"In the middle of the night? Sorry, but I am not irresponsible enough to do that to some kid like you. So for now, I will take you with my team and protect you."

I felt a stab of irritation after hearing these words.

Well, not the ones that said they would protect me, but at the fact that they called me a kid.

'A kid-! Me, a kid! Hah-! You are the one who looks to be in mid 20s. You were a measly teenager when I entered the grand dungeon, so who's the kid here, you piece of shit-'

Of course, I kept all these words in my mind and forced a smile on my face.

"No, that's fine. I can wait here or something. In truth, I am afraid of going into dungeons. They just seem so scary and all. A-And I am a civilian…"

I tried to act as someone scared to head into the dungeon and I saw the people around me soften.

Even the alpha who dragged me into all this looked sorry for me, so I was sure I was going to get my way…

"I'm sorry. I know that you are scared and uncomfortable, but I really can't send you out alone. As for your safety inside the dungeon, you should not worry that much. I will protect you myself. I promise on my hunter name, Bullet, I will protect you with my life if I have to."

The hunter said, crossing his hand across his chest and bowing to me inside that cramped car.

"Yeah-! You will be safe with us."

"Rhiner is ranked #55 in the world. There is no need for you to be worried."

The people around me assured with a smile on their faces as they looked at me. And I forced a smile on my face as well.

"I-I see. In that case, it's great to have you around. I will be counting on you to protect me."

I was not acting this time. I actually felt nervous. But not for the same reasons as everyone else did.

Instead of worrying about whether I would be safe or not, I felt worried about whether these people would hold me back from returning home in time or not.

'Shit-! I wish I had a phone for times like these. I could have called Emma or Ben and told them what happened and not to worry. I am sure they must be out there, searching for me.'

I tried to suppress my anxiety, but I must have done a poor job of it because the person sitting beside me noticed.

"Hey, what's wrong? We already told you that you don't need to feel worried or anything."

The person assured me once more.

"I wanted to call the PC Cafe workers and tell them where I am, but I did not bring my phone. I am worried that they would worry about me."

The reason I decided to not keep quiet and speak up now was because I knew this would help me 'sell' my story of being a frightened worker better.

I could already see the pitiful glances being sent my way by the people around me.

"Ah, you're in luck. I have the number for the PC Cafe since I get take-out from there. Should I call them for you and explain what is going on with you?"

One of the female hunters asked. She did not have any scent on her, so I could only assume she was a beta.

Not that I had anything against beta hunters. They were just…rare in my days. Not rarer than omega hunters.

But female betas were also considered 'weak' hunters and thus, discriminated against.

'This is just another thing that had changed since I came back. There is a lot I need to get used to.'

"Here, I connected the call. You can talk to them, but be quick since we are about to reach the dungeon soon."

The female hunter spoke softly and I nodded before quickly connecting the call and conveying what happened to the other side.
