Chapter 5 - Ride to the local church

Jonathan said, "Did you see any unusual figures or had any nightmares?" in a friendly manner, his expression open and curious. As I processed his words, I noticed a string leaving his body, reaching out as it connected with my soul. My heart raced at the unknown thoughts. My soul reacted very badly to that connection; dozens of strings erupted from within me, swirling around like chaotic tendrils of energy. Among them, I saw a distinct blue one activate as my domain stirred to life.

The white strings seemed to wrap around my soul protectively, creating a barrier against the overwhelming sensation. Meanwhile, the blue strings moved toward Jonathan, intertwining with his energy and restraining his string. I could sense the struggle between our energies, a tension that hinted at something greater at play.

Fear mingled with curiosity as I tried to understand what was happening. It felt as though our souls were communicating, sharing a connection that transcended words. I glanced at Jonathan, trying to gauge his reaction, but his expression remained calm.

The priest noticed our unusual interaction and rushed toward Jonathan and me, his expression a mix of concern and urgency. He moved with a startling speed, his robes billowing behind him as he closed the distance between us in an instant.

It didn't take him even a second to stand right in front of me. Before I could fully process what was happening, he knocked me out with a swift, calculated motion. The world around me blurred into darkness, and just like that, I was gone.

As I lost consciousness, I felt the connection I had to Jonathan's soul weaken. My strings, which had been wrapped around him, loosened their grasp on Jonathan.

My grandfather was worried and shocked, his expression a mix of confusion and fear as he took in the sudden chaos surrounding us. The priest, however, merely glanced at him, his eyes glinting with an otherworldly calm. It was clear he wielded some kind of power, a force that seemed to envelop him like a second skin.

While my grandfather stood there in a daze, struggling to comprehend what had happened, the priest's demeanor remained unflinching. He had acted decisively, using an ability that had knocked me out in an instant, and now he seemed to be assessing the situation with a detached focus.

The air around them crackled with tension, and my grandfather felt a chill run down his spine. He could sense that the priest was not just an ordinary man; there was a depth to him that hinted at hidden strength and knowledge. As my grandfather tried to process the priest's capabilities, he realized that he had to confront this mysterious figure and demand answers for what had transpired.

Then, he lost consciousness, the world fading to black as the weight of the situation pulled him under.

Meanwhile, the priest carefully lifted Asterion's limp form, carrying him with ease as he made his way to a nearby room. The air felt charged with a palpable energy, a blend of urgency and mystery surrounding the priest. He laid Asterion down gently on the bed, his expression serious as he prepared to assess the boy's condition.

Once Asterion was settled, the priest began to murmur softly, his voice barely audible but resonating with a power that seemed to fill the room. He placed his hands over Asterion, focusing his energy to stabilize him and ensure that the young boy would recover. The flickering light in the room danced around them, casting shadows that hinted at the unseen forces at play.

The priest knew he had to act quickly; the connection between Asterion and the strange energies he had encountered needed to be addressed before it spiraled further out of control or attracted any unwanted attention.

Soon, Jonathan followed with my grandfather. He laid him down on the bed, his expression still calm as before.

Turning toward the priest, Jonathan asked, "Father Paul, may I ask what we have to do with them?" He glanced toward us, concern etched on his face.

Father Paul took a moment to gather his thoughts, his gaze shifting between Jonathan and Asterion. "The boy is a natural spirit weaver, and he may be a mystic as well, as he did something around him in shape of a sphere" he explained. His voice was steady, but there was an underlying annoyance and intrigue. "These abilities are rare and come with great danger of going out of control.I will report back, while I will try to get permission to take him under me.If not he dies. "

While Father Paul was gone, Asterion began to wake up. Jonathan noticed and quickly came over to his side, curiosity lighting up his face.

"Do you even know anything about the supernatural world?" Jonathan asked, leaning in closer. "Have you ever come into contact with anyone like us before?"

Asterion blinked away the haze of sleep, trying to gather his thoughts. The question hung in the air, filled with possibilities. He recalled the strange visions he had experienced, the shadows that danced at the edges of his perception, and the dark forces he sensed.

"I've seen things," Asterion replied slowly, his voice still thick with sleep. "Grotesque figures and shadows... I can see them clearly now. They are everywhere—some are strong and make me feel threatened, but they do not usually come close."

Jonathan raised an eyebrow. "You have natural spiritual vision and still have not been devoured. Interesting."

Just then, Father Paul entered, looking at both of them with a serious expression. He turned toward Asterion and said, "Now that you are under my guidance, you will be attending a boot camp to get you up to speed. You are also part of the church now and will be required to do the duties required of you. You are now offically a junior priest of the Church.

Father Paul continued, "We need to ensure you can protect yourself and those around you. The forces you're beginning to sense are very real and very dangerous. We will prepare you for what lies ahead and you will serve as a member of the church until your death".

Asterion just looked at him for a while, not saying anything. After a moment of contemplation, he finally said, "I agree."

He understood that embracing his new role was crucial, not only for himself but also for those he cared about. As he prepared for the challenges ahead, he felt a flicker of resolve ignite within him, ready to face whatever awaited him in this unfamiliar world.
