Chapter 6 - # 6: Screwed Up

*'Something ain't right,'* Aedar comments as he watches more and more shadows slowly emerge, with more coming from afar.

*'No shit—wonder how I couldn't tell,'* Jake says sarcastically.

*'No, I'm saying this doesn't seem to be part of their plan either. Look, there are some very weak agents, barely considered strong even by the mortal standard. Some of them don't even seem to be agents. They seem to be throwing as many bodies at us as they can—almost as if the cost of capturing us doesn't mean much as long as we are in their hands. Those two over there seem to have been the ones meant to capture you, just as the ones we killed were meant for me with the assumption that I had sister's power. Look, some seem to have left fights close by and are wounded just so they can be here. If my guess is right, I think more and more will flood here in the next minute. That means that something changed in the last couple of minutes that got them all to turn their attention to us.'* Aedar explained dreadfully. *'We need to break out now without regard—otherwise we are never leaving, no matter what kind of strength we have.'*

*'Please tell me these rays on us are for illumination.'*

*'This amount of tranquilizers would kill any living person if shot on fifty people, let alone the two of us. My guess would have been that they are gambling on our ability to dodge them, but even then, this is still too much for a normal person. Even if they dodged 90 percent of them, they'd still die. But if we dodge at least 40 percent, we will live. Though I doubt we'll die. After all, if we are hit with one, we will become sluggish, and a second will come, so will a third, until we are out and we will be captured. This conclusion only works if they know our strength, and as far as I know, they don't.'*

*'Then where should we break out to? If what you say is right, then wherever we run, we're as good as done for. And unless we die, we are fucked—and fucked real good.'*

*'The tank is the only hope. I'm pretty sure it ain't tampered with, and there is a chance they ain't even aware of how destructive it is. And they probably think it is just holding the escape path. As long as we can get in, we can escape. And if we can't, then let's just be reckless and blow it. A chance will come as long as we are conscious. If we ain't, tough luck.'*

The two were just about to attack when a gentle voice was heard far ahead. "10 years, you say."

A chuckle followed after the voice, and a woman appears on top of the building ahead, about 20 meters away. Her head embraced in long, curvy waist-length hair with blue tips, her beauty is dreamy, and the smile behind her chocolate skin was just as inviting—by all means, she was to die for. Her perfect curves are seen shapely, revealed by the black pants she is in, and on her person she holds a fancy cane. Everything about her screams of her beauty and elegance, and the air of maturity in her aura invites comfort, desire, and longing. The only thing that made the two not appreciate her is that her aura is strong—and this is not to say that the others are weak—but she is not one they would beat fast enough if the plan was to escape, not to mention the legion of agents surrounding them. The situation was starting to look bleak, and it was getting worse by the second.

"You should definitely join us instead of wasting your talent outside here. Wouldn't you agree?" the woman asked the two.

The two siblings looked at each other and immediately understood what had gone wrong.

*'Shit, that bastard must have been wired, and talking back cost us big,'* Jake said regretfully.

*'Tch! Not like you're gonna change anytime soon, especially with that power-hungry nature of yours.'*

*'Yeah, I screwed up this time. Now save us again, your grace,'* Jake added sarcastically.

Just then, another voice was heard again.

"They will be of great help for the greater good." Another voice was heard, and a young man came into view. He was in his early twenties, and his eyes radiated with zeal.

"Who are you? The hell y'all fucks want? We're busy—could you get out the way?" Jake was clearly annoyed, and he wasn't in an accommodating mood in the least bit.

"Us? HE! HE! HE! I am known as Gregor, The Son of War. We are the salvation of humanity, and you are all obligated to serve humanity. Come with us and become the zeal that shields our planet from all who threaten it." The guy had a Russian accent and radiated strong pride.

"We got shit to do. Are you going to stand in the way and have us rush through, or are you going to move? We're busy, as are you. So go back to protecting whatever it is you are protecting and leave us out of it." Jake truly seemed to lose his patience and slowly leaned towards his knees and took out two blades strapped to both legs and got ready to fight.

The guy seemed to have really lost his cool and flared his aura outwards and screamed, "You mongrel dare be disrespectful towards me! ME! The Son of War! I'll teach you a lesson till you grovel at my feet!" He took out the huge blade strapped to his back and got ready to attack.

Jake was already ready to attack, but he hadn't even unveiled his aura, and the same was true for Aedar. More than two years in the wild hiding from wild creatures had taught them a thing or two about veiling their aura to the point they simply looked as ordinary as the next man. Hell, if they hunted in the wild even after they came to the settlement, they could hide it till they seemed like ordinary rats in the wild—not that there was much of those that remained after the energy increased. When Gregor smashed his aura against them, Jake got angry, and a hint of disdain appeared on Aedar's face.

Slowly, the air started to turn hostile, and the girl beside the guy suddenly shouted softly, "Enough, Gregor!"

"My apologies, Gregor is a little too passionate. I am Miria, Daughter of Indra. Pleased to make your acquaintance. It is a great honour to meet another Epic, especially one as old as yourselves. I and my good friend Gregor here are emissaries of The Pact, here to invite you to join our great cause of ensuring the survival of our race. I am sure you have heard of us, just as you have heard of the work we have done by establishing survivable settlements and new academies on the planet." The girl introduced amicably with the ever-inviting smile on her face.

"They should be honoured to serve for the glory of the race!" Gregor suddenly added.

Aedar, who hadn't done a thing the entire time, suddenly looked up at Gregor, who was standing on top of the roof, and scowled. "I hate idealistic shits like you the most."

Before his anger could flare up, his head suddenly exploded, and his body slumped, and his blade slid down the roof. Before anyone could even react, the two siblings disappeared, and before anyone could tell what was going on, more than a dozen lives had been reaped by the two, and more were falling. Considering the fact that the two were already so strong, even compared to other Epics, they made quick work of the mortal humans surrounding them in a few seconds.

What many did not even notice was that Aedar, who was ever silent, had been looking at the infrared rays that were pointed at them from afar. And as he slowly turned pale, with none wise enough to think that an Epic who had been with their gift for more than 10 years would not be afraid of riff raff. During the exchange, Aedar had located the snipers with the tranquilizers, and slowly his blood had flowed out his body in small blade-like forms and slowly got closer to where he had estimated the snipers to be. After all, their greatest threat was the tranquilizers, and removing them would ensure they would always be at peak performance no matter what. When he attacked Gregor, he simultaneously killed the snipers, and with his aura as hidden as always, he disappeared into the crowd, and the ever-proud Jake flared his aura, and those mortals were frozen in fear.
