Cecilia suddenly had an idea.
If this necklace was a message from Leano—something meant to reach her—then perhaps Kath, his sister, might understand its meaning.
"Kath, I've got something to show you," Cecilia said over a video call, opening her palm to reveal the silver necklace. "It looks like your brother's."
Kath's eyes widened as she leaned closer to the screen, inspecting it carefully before nodding.
"Yes… that's my brother's necklace! He wore it all the time!"
Cecilia forced a casual smile. "He's been really busy with work lately, so he mailed it to me instead of writing a letter. It looks kind of valuable… does it mean something special?"
Kath's expression softened with a trace of nostalgia. "It's not silver," she said with a small, embarrassed smile. "Dad made it for us when he was still alive—out of old scrap metal. My brother and I each had one. Mine's still at home."
A chill ran down Cecilia's spine.
"So then… what does it mean that he sent this to me?"
