"Wait—why are we even going to Tokyo?" she protested, startled.
Sure, she had given herself the evening off, but tomorrow she still had a mountain of work waiting. "I can't just disappear! My project isn't finished yet—you can take someone else on your trip! I still have to deal with Mrs. Song and Madame, and Leano's mother needs someone to take care of her—"
Her words trailed off as Blaze leaned back, a faint smile touching his lips. "Forget work. Forget everyone else. What if we just left—just the two of us?"
He leaned closer, close enough that Cecilia could feel his breath on her face, his low voice brushing against her skin.
"What… what did you say?" she stammered, cheeks flushing red.
"I said, forget everything. Come with me to Japan. Start a new life—just us."
He always had this way of unsettling her calm, of reaching right into her heart without even trying.
