I opened my eyes on the operating table. A long sharp knife was raised high above me.
I turned to the side and fell to the floor. Above me came the sound of the knife striking metal.
I got to my feet, trembling from adrenaline. On the other side of the table stood a gray creature with a knife in its hand. Its skull was bald. It lunged at me.
I dashed to the door, flung it open, and rushed into the hallway.
Bloody sacks stood along the corridor walls. Severed arms, legs, and heads stuck out of them. I ran between them toward the door visible at the far end.
The bloody heads followed me with dead, wild eyes. The gray bald creature with the knife chased right behind me.
I opened the door and burst into a dimly lit room. In several armchairs placed around the room sat gray bald creatures. In front of them, on a small table, stood a television. Its screen glowed, showing some kind of hellish scene. Terrifying, fanged monsters were tearing people apart. The gray creatures instantly jumped up and, knives in hand, rushed at me.
I darted toward the front door. I almost reached it. But one creature grabbed my leg and I crashed to the floor. Only a few steps remained to the door. My hand stretched toward it with the last of my strength.
Suddenly, the door swung open. A silhouette appeared on the threshold — a stranger in a hat and cloak. He was holding a rifle.
He aimed it in my direction. I threw myself at his legs. A loud shot rang out. The stranger fell onto the oncoming gray creatures.
I ran outside into the night street. Grass all around. Trees of the park loomed in the distance. Below, along the road, a few cars drove by.
I reached the road and started waving my arms, trying to stop a car. My face was covered in blood.
From the house, gray creatures with knives poured out, followed by the stranger with the rifle.
The first car sped past. The second too. The third one stopped. The driver opened the door.
I dove into the car, and it raced forward along the road. The silhouette of the stranger with the rifle remained behind.
"Creepy creatures dwell in these parts," said the driver. "You were lucky."
He turned his head and looked at me.
"Because I am the scariest of them all."
His eyes flared with a red glow. Several tentacles shot out of his body and pierced me.
Blood sprayed in fountains in all directions. I let out a death cry.
