Chapter 213: Naruto's Rampage
If not for the faint whisper of the wind, the silence over Konoha would have been absolute, a void where even air seemed to have died.
The Tailed Beast Bomb's impact had left the earth shattered, its destructive energy radiating outward, annihilating all matter—tangible and intangible—in its path. There was no resisting such a force. The very sky seemed to press down, dark clouds swirling like a funeral shroud.
The village was still saturated with the chaotic, violent chakra residue from the bomb, a palpitation-inducing aura that clung to the ruins. The ninjas who had survived the blast could only stare in horror and grief at the tragedy before them.
This monster... will he not stop until Konoha is utterly erased? Yamato...
Kakashi, a veteran of countless battles, had managed to survive the periphery of the blast. But his heart was a hollow pit of sorrow. His eyes, usually so calm, were now pools of grief—for the village, and for yet another comrade who had died helplessly before him. It reminded him of Obito, sacrificing himself to save him, and of Rin, dying on his own Chidori...
Ren paid no mind to their despair. A flicker of malice shone in his eyes as he sneered. "Next... it's your turn!"
But before he could make his move, a roar of pure, unadulterated fury ripped through the silence. Ren's gaze snapped toward the source. He paused for a fraction of a second, then his sneer returned, wider and colder.
"Are you angry?" he mused. "Hehe~~"
It was Naruto. After his summon, Gamabunta, had been effortlessly neutralized by Ren, the boy had been left powerless, forced to watch the village's destruction. The sight of Yamato's sacrifice and the village's ruin, compounded by his own helplessness, had finally broken something inside him. His anger, his frustration, his roar—it all erupted at once.
He had lost control.
A scarlet chakra cloak erupted from his body, four tails of blazing energy lashing behind him. His features were distorted, his consciousness submerged under the Nine-Tails' malevolent influence. He glared at the false Nine-Tails with pure, bestial hatred and let out a challenging roar.
The false Kyuubi, though a clone, possessed the pride of the strongest Tailed Beast. It could feel the familiar, hated chakra emanating from the small figure and could not tolerate the provocation. It raised its head and answered with an earth-shaking roar of its own.
"Naruto! Don't be impulsive! You're no match for him! Calm down, Naruto!" Kakashi shouted, his grief momentarily shoved aside by alarm. He rushed toward the rampaging boy, trying to stop him. He knew that even in this state, Naruto stood no chance against Uchiha Ren or the demon fox he commanded. Yamato had just died; he couldn't let Naruto throw his life away too.
But Naruto was too far gone. His mind was flooded with the Nine-Tails' negativity. He didn't recognize the man before him. He saw only an obstacle.
Kakashi's attempt to block him was seen as a provocation. With a guttural snarl, Naruto lunged, claws of red chakra aiming to tear out Kakashi's heart.
"Damn it... Naruto, stop!"
Kakashi was no slouch, but he had underestimated the speed of the Four-Tails transformation. In the blink of an eye, Naruto was upon him, his attack devoid of any mercy. Kakashi twisted his body at the last possible second, avoiding a direct hit.
Naruto seemed to fixate on him now, abandoning the false Kyuubi to focus on tearing Kakashi apart. Kakashi could only dodge and weave, barely avoiding the flurry of attacks while desperately calling Naruto's name, trying to reach the boy buried beneath the beast.
Failing to land a hit only enraged the beast further. With another roar, a bolt of crimson lightning seemed to strike Naruto from within. His aura exploded, swelling several times over. White bones materialized over the chakra cloak, forming a skeletal armor. The four tails behind him multiplied into six, lashing the air erratically. The violent chakra shot into the sky like a beacon of pure rage.
Hisssss—
A sound that was utterly inhuman, a serpentine hiss of pure malice, issued from Naruto's throat.
"This is bad! Six tails already!" Kakashi's horror grew. "Without Yamato's Wood Style to suppress it, there's no stopping him now!"
Naruto gave him no time to strategize. The moment his power surged, he attacked. A massive, chakra-formed hand stretched out, snatching at Kakashi. The Copy Ninja leaped into the air, but before he could land, a second chakra hand—this one shaped like a miniature Nine-Tails—shot from the first and closed around his ankle. With a brutal, casual flick, it hurled him away.
BOOM!
Kakashi flew like a discarded ragdoll, smashing into the ground and kicking up a plume of dust. This time, the impact was too much. He struggled to push himself up, coughing, a spray of blood staining his mask a dark red.
Having disposed of the nuisance, the Six-Tailed Naruto turned its attention back to the true source of its rage. It could sense the overwhelming danger emanating from the giant fox... and the man standing on its head.
It let out another challenging howl, directed at the false Kyuubi and Ren.
"Hehe. Interesting..." Ren murmured, a cold smile playing on his lips.
