Chapter 49 - Chapter 49: Drakkari Trolls

The Archmage in the base put aside all other tasks and focused entirely on creating Vision Totems, then bound them all to the Asunite Eye Stone.

Gale kept some of the Vision Totems, sending the rest to the Alpha Squad and Beta Group.

Of the Vision Totems remaining at the base, some were placed around the base to prevent surprise attacks from Trolls. Some were placed on both sides of the river to prevent Troll ambushes on the waterway. The remaining totems were placed in densely wooded areas to prevent Troll scouts from hiding there.

As the Vision Totems were activated one by one, a large amount of vision lit up on the magic map. With the help of this vision, the number of areas the base needed to defend was greatly reduced, allowing more effort to be put into base construction.

Soon, vision also appeared from the Alpha Squad's side.

Unlike the base, Carlos's method of creating vision was unique. The Alpha Squad had explored all the way to the northern mountains, so they placed Vision Totems on some of the peaks, illuminating almost the entire mountain-side region.

This had the advantage of preventing Trolls from advancing along the mountains.

In particular, the Alpha Squad discovered a mountain pass about ten miles to the east. At the pass, the Alpha Squad set up more than ten Vision Totems at the highest point. Gale Vision Totems could keep the entire situation of the mountain pass firmly under control.

He specifically looked into the mountain pass, only to see that the other side of the pass was a vast snowfield.

This was strange!

It was almost spring, and the trees in the forest were about to bud, so why was there so much snow on the other side of the mountain pass?

A few days later, Moon Fury Legion Commander arrived with the Gamma Group. The army was almost assembled, and he needed a larger base to accommodate the soldiers. The Alpha Squad's progress made him a little dissatisfied, so he had to come and supervise personally.

Moon Fury Legion Commander convened a military meeting, and Carlos and the Beta Group commander were temporarily recalled. At the meeting, Moon Fury Legion Commander asked Carlos, "Why is the base expansion so slow?"

Carlos was also helpless, "Originally, our progress was very good, but a group of gray-paneled Trolls appeared from nowhere and attacked us. I could only defeat them first before continuing to build the base."

"Gray-paneled Trolls?" Turann High Mage asked in surprise, "Did you look closely?"

Because of Heda'shal's contribution, Turann High Mage was once again appointed as the commander of the Archmage Corps. Perhaps Azshara considered that he and Yue Nu and Gale were old acquaintances and had cooperated happily, which led to this appointment.

Gale's heart stirred, and he thought of a possibility.

Carlos: "We were also very puzzled. As everyone knows, the Trolls' panel is related to their living environment. Gray-paneled Trolls shouldn't exist. However, after we defeated them and pursued them to a mountain pass, I understood why these Trolls had gray panels. On the other side of the mountain pass was a vast snowfield, and those Trolls must have lived there to have gray panels."

"Snowfield?" Turann High Mage said cautiously, "The Trolls we know are divided into Forest Trolls, represented by the Amani Trolls, and Jungle Trolls, led by the Gurubashi Trolls. Trolls living in snowfields are something I've heard of for the first time."

Carlos took out some books, "These were collected from the Troll corpses. They are all in Troll script, and perhaps they record something that can help us understand this group of Trolls."

Turann High Mage took the books, "This is a Troll epic."

After reading it carefully, he said, "These Trolls call themselves Drakkari Trolls and live in Zul'Drak. They fought bravely against insectoids, but were expelled by the Amani Trolls and Gurubashi Trolls. In Zul'Drak, they continued to fight bravely, defeating the Vrykul and also defeating beasts... They believe in the Wind Serpent loa Quetz'lun, and Quetz'lun led them to one victory after another."

Drakkari Trolls?

Everyone frowned, how did another Troll tribe emerge? Why were there so many Trolls? And listening to what the epic said, they seemed to be even more powerful than other Trolls.

"This epic is a bit exaggerated," the Gamma Group commander said with a smile, "If the Drakkari Trolls were more powerful than the Amani and Gurubashi, how could they have been expelled?"

Carlos shook his head, "I don't think it's exaggerated! Those Drakkari Trolls are taller and stronger than the Amani Trolls, and they are also particularly ferocious. One Drakkari Troll, with both hands severed, still pounced on a warrior and bit off his neck with his teeth. Not only that, he even swallowed the bitten-off flesh raw..."

Everyone's mouths hung open; clearly, the ferocity of the Drakkari Trolls had exceeded their understanding.

Gale, however, was not surprised at all. According to the game background he understood, the Drakkari Trolls were expelled precisely because of their excessive ferocity. To what extent could they be ferocious? To stop the Lich King's advance, they did not hesitate to kill Quetz'lun, the Wind Serpent loa they worshipped.

Although the Amani Trolls also attacked the loa, they only extracted the loa's power to strengthen Troll warriors.

Moon Fury Legion Commander said, "It seems we need to be particularly vigilant against the Drakkari Trolls."

Everyone nodded, "That's right, the Drakkari Trolls are so ferocious. If they were to join forces with the Amani Trolls, I'm afraid we would have a hard time winning."

Carlos added, "The Drakkari Trolls are not only ferocious to their enemies but also to themselves. They dare to face enemies ten times their size, and even after defeat, they do not surrender, fighting until death."

Gale: "Then we will build a fortress at the mountain pass to defend against the Drakkari Trolls."

Turann High Mage supported Gale's suggestion, "That's right, only then can we avoid the harassment of the Drakkari Trolls and fully concentrate on attacking the Amani Trolls."

The main purpose of this campaign was to capture Amani Troll prisoners. The more than three hundred Trolls captured earlier had already been transported to farms in southern Sin'dorei to open up farmland, but a large number of farms still lacked labor.

Moon Fury Legion Commander also supported this proposal, "Carlos, the construction of the fortress is up to you."

He looked at Gale, "We need to attack the Trolls, so I ask Archmage Gale to lend a hand with the fortress."

Gale promised, "Commander, rest assured, I will help Carlos."

Upon receiving Gale's affirmative reply, Moon Fury Legion Commander felt relieved. Although Gale was not an Archmage, his excellent spellcasting ability, as well as the strength of his logistics troops and Priest Corps, meant his combat capability already surpassed that of ordinary armies and could rival the Archmage Corps.

Moreover, Gale also possessed a Titan artifact. Even if the Drakkari Trolls assembled a large army, the Titan artifact could guarantee the safety of the fortress.
