Skyreach, Tauren camp.
The spider army had already attacked here, their commander was Qi Tailerek, an Apostle of Dark Lord Urginesh. It was a smaller Faceless One, accompanied by a group of even smaller Faceless Ones. These Faceless Ones could summon tentacles to fight alongside the spiders.
If it weren't for the Tauren's thick hides, and Salador leading the Rangers in support from the high ground on both sides, Skyreach would probably have been breached.
"Raise your shields, protect yourselves," Moraine Highmountain shouted, reminding the warriors to raise their shields for defense.
The number of Tauren was limited, and they could not afford too many casualties.
"Push the rocks down!"
Salador waved his arm, instructing the mercenaries to push rocks down the slope. Before he arrived at Highmountain, the mercenaries fought individually, only able to deal with scattered spiders. Even so, they suffered heavy casualties because they knew nothing about spiders; some were focused down by spider magic projectiles, some were stuck in spider webs, and some were grabbed by suddenly appearing tentacles.
After Salador arrived, he immediately incorporated these mercenaries. While fighting, he trained them, and after a few days of battle, they finally began to resemble soldiers.
Large boulders rolled down, crushing many spiders that were too slow to evade, and successfully causing a commotion among the spiders.
Qi Tailerek was somewhat annoyed and ordered two smaller Faceless Ones to attack the slope and deal with the snipers above.
Salador was calm and composed, directing the Rangers to stop their attack. The Kaldorei Ranger team, each armed with a Wind Power, shot very deadly judgment arrows. Firing from above, they could sometimes kill two spiders with one arrow. The mountain path was uneven, and the spiders' ascent was slow, further hampered by the Rangers' attacks, severely blunting their offensive.
However, under the command of the Faceless Ones, the spiders still attacked fearlessly. When they reached the middle of the slope, the Faceless Ones began to cast spells, and countless tentacles appeared on the slope, attacking the nearby Kaldorei.
"Clear these tentacles!"
Salador quickly gave the order, but he knew that without killing that Faceless One, the tentacles would be endless. He quickly ran to a rock in front, drew his bow, and flames rapidly ignited on the arrow. Reaching the top of the rock, he aimed at the Faceless One and shot.
"Puff!"
The flaming arrow pierced the Faceless One's face, as if it had shot into lamp oil. Sun Power specifically countered darkness and evil, and the Faceless One struggled for a few moments before being burned into a pile of ashes.
With the Faceless One dead, the tentacles were quickly cleared away.
On the other side of the slope, the Rangers were in trouble. They had no way to kill the Faceless One and could only be attacked by endless tentacles. Just as the spiders were about to breach the position, a figure appeared behind the Faceless One.
Kana leaped onto its back, plunging two Shadow Walker Blades into its neck. Shadow Divine Power erupted, directly shattering its head.
He did a backflip, dodged a spider's magic projectile attack, jumped onto a spider, and decapitated it. Then, using Shadowstep, he vanished into the spider swarm.
The Rangers quickly cleared the tentacles, then directed the mercenaries to push down the rocks. The nearby spiders had no time to dodge and were crushed all the way down into the valley by the rocks. The spiders' formation was in disarray, and the Rangers immediately picked them off one by one, thus resolving this crisis.
Qi Tailerek was furious, "You useless lot, you can't even defeat some mortals. Speed up the attack, the Dark Lord is waiting for news of victory."
A group of Faceless Ones drove the spiders to launch another assault. Even with the harassment from both sides of the slope, they still frequently attacked the camp. They personally led the charge and soon engaged the Tauren.
Relying on their height, which was twice that of the Tauren, they struck down at the Tauren with their pincers. The Tauren dodged the attacks and plunged their spears into their bodies. Unexpectedly, the Faceless Ones ignored their injuries and continued to attack the Tauren.
This suicidal fighting style left the Tauren at a loss, forcing them to retreat bit by bit.
"Ha!"
Moraine leaped, his runic spear impaling the Faceless One in front of him, then immediately launched a Wild Bull Charge, slamming into another Faceless One.
Salador was also shooting down Faceless Ones, but he was quickly astonished by Moraine's combat ability. This Tauren chief was incredibly powerful. He had never seen such a mighty warrior; his friend Draksa, and Carlos, who was armed to the teeth by Gale, were like children compared to this chief.
Kana, at some unknown point, had also arrived outside the camp, repeatedly ambushing the Faceless Ones.
However, there were too many Faceless Ones, and the three of them simply couldn't clear them all. Soon, some Tauren were killed, and the spider army also invaded the camp, looking as if the entire battle was about to be lost.
At this moment, the large trees around the battlefield suddenly came alive; they pulled out their roots and transformed into giant treants, charging into the battlefield. They swung their fists, smashing every spider they encountered to death.
The spiders were astonished by these suddenly appearing enemies, but quickly retaliated. Magic projectiles were thrown at the treants as if they cost nothing, but they were all blocked by the treants' thick hides. Some magic projectiles even bounced back, hitting the spiders themselves.
What was happening? The spiders' insufficient little brains were confused.
The Faceless Ones also didn't know what was happening; was the victory they had almost grasped just gone? They were extremely annoyed and quickly charged at the treants, wanting to reclaim victory.
"Bang!"
The Faceless Ones were more agile than the treants, and their pincers struck the treants first. The treants couldn't withstand the attack and were knocked to the ground. The Faceless Ones also didn't fare well; they felt a recoil force from the treants, causing them to lean backward.
Countless arrows rained down from the sky, hitting them in the face. When they regained their footing, they saw an elegant stag-man walk into the camp. Wherever the stag-man passed, flowers bloomed. He gently waved his hand, and a mass of green energy enveloped the Tauren, healing all their wounds.
At the Tauren's feet, a pale green aura appeared. Any enemy attacking the Tauren would suffer a backlash from the attack.
Cenarius waved his hand again, and countless roots suddenly appeared, binding all the Faceless Ones attacking the camp.
Moraine looked at Cenarius in surprise; was this the aid Lord Gale had spoken of?
At this moment, he didn't have time to question Cenarius, but instead charged first at the bound Faceless Ones.
"Kill them all!"
The Tauren followed suit; one-on-one, they were no match for the Faceless Ones, but a group fight was different.
What's more, behind them, there was powerful support.
