Chapter 144 - Chapter 144 Alunes

In Sin'dorei, Gale met Karna in the Mage Tower.

Karna reported to Gale that while the situation in Sin'dorei was deteriorating, it was still manageable.

Not having received any information about the Burning Legion, Gale breathed a slight sigh of relief.

Then he noticed that Metri had not yet appeared and couldn't help but ask, "Where is Metri?"

Karna hesitated, "Archmage Metri went to Suramar."

"What did he go to Suramar for?" Gale was greatly puzzled.

Karna: "I'm not quite sure, I only know that he has been researching an otherworldly creature for some time.

He said that if he could understand that powerful creature, he could create a legendary staff."

"A legendary staff?" Gale fell into thought.

He felt as if he had been too harsh on Metri, to the point where Metri was being somewhat fanciful; was a legendary staff that easy to create?

The reason he hadn't created equipment for Metri was that he didn't want Metri to become too reliant on him.

Metri's talent was unparalleled throughout the Kaldorei Empire.

Even without Gale's guidance, Metri could easily become an Archmage and forge his own path of spellcasting.

However, after joining Gale's Mage Tower, Metri almost exclusively studied Gale's magical theories.

Unable to break free from Gale's theoretical constraints, even if Metri achieved something, it would not be recognized.

This was unfair to an exceptional genius.

Therefore, Gale did not interfere too much with Metri's development.

He just hadn't expected Metri to not follow the usual steps, but instead make a huge leap.

He wasn't even attempting to create an epic staff, but was directly aiming to create a legendary staff.

Perhaps an enchanted thorium ingot legendary item was easy to make, but Gale knew Metri wouldn't consider an enchanted thorium ingot.

This was the pride of an exceptional genius!

However, Gale also knew that Metri was not someone who spoke idly; since he said he would create a legendary staff, there must be a basis for it.

This sparked a strong curiosity in Gale, making him want to find Metri and witness his method of creation.

However, before that, Gale needed to upgrade Karna's daggers.

The greatest strength of the Darkwalker's Blade was its ability to use divine power to activate the Shadowstep skill.

After Gale made the divine power permanent, the Darkwalker's Blade could use Shadowstep an unlimited number of times.

Though divine power would be consumed, the Darkwalker's Blade would automatically recover it, it was just that the cooldown was a bit long.

Karna was deeply grateful; he was the most loyal of the Mage Tower guards.

Gale also favored Karna, directly upgrading four daggers for him, to prevent him from losing his life if his daggers were destroyed.

Having completed all this, Gale eagerly rushed to Suramar.

He found Captain Ravencrest and inquired about Metri.

"Archmage Metri seems to have gone to Shal'Aran."

Captain Ravencrest gave Gale vague information, but it was enough for Gale to find Metri.

Shal'Aran was northwest of Suramar, only half a day's journey from Suramar.

Gale remembered that when playing the game, there was a ruin underground here called Elnes Ruins.

Wait—

Gale finally understood why Metri's name sounded so familiar; this guy was the creator of the legendary staff, aluneth, Staff of the Guardian.

Understanding this, Gale realized that Metri wasn't being fanciful, but genuinely had confidence.

aluneth was a powerful staff used by Guardian Aegwynn.

In Aegwynn's hands, it was even more powerful than the Guardian's Staff, Atiesh.

It was only when facing Sargeras directly that this staff, which possessed its own consciousness, dared not attack Sargeras, and was then abandoned by Aegwynn.

Later, Aegwynn entrusted aluneth to the Blue Dragon for safekeeping, and it eventually fell into the hands of the player Archlord.

In Shal'Aran, Gale met Metri.

Metri was quite surprised to see Gale arrive.

"My lord, weren't you in Shala'nil?"

Gale: "My research has concluded for now, so I came out to clear my head.

I just came from Sin'dorei, and I heard from Karna that you want to forge a legendary staff?"

At the mention of a legendary staff, Metri became excited.

He took out the staff he had crafted, "That's right, I've discovered a feasible plan."

"This way, please!" Metri guided Gale into an underground cavern, where a summoning circle lay in an open space.

"While you were in seclusion in Shala'nil, I was also searching for my own path of spellcasting.

So, I left Sin'dorei and traveled to various corners of Kalimdor, exchanging ideas with spellcasters of different races.

To the west of the snowfields, I discovered a group of Blue Dragons.

While communicating with the Blue Dragons, I learned from them about an Arcane elemental named aluneth, and the method of summoning aluneth."

"aluneth possesses immense power.

The Blue Dragons expended a great deal of effort to capture one.

However, after completing their experiments, they returned aluneth to its original world.

Clearly, the Blue Dragons did not realize aluneth's value, or perhaps they did but chose not to utilize aluneth."

In his words, Metri seemed somewhat puzzled by the Blue Dragons' choice.

"Based on the clues I obtained from the Blue Dragons, I designed this plan.

Because aluneth's power is too great, I don't intend to summon it to Azeroth.

I intend to use aluneth's energy to empower the staff; just a portion will be enough to make this staff a legendary item."

Gale nodded, "Your idea is very good.

You can continue to complete your plan, and I will observe from the side.

If you need help, I will step in."

Metri smiled and nodded, "Then, my lord, please wait a moment; I will go and activate the circle now."

He walked to the center of the circle and activated it using Arcane magic.

A vortex appeared in mid-air, and within the vortex, an exceptionally tall Arcane elemental could be seen appearing on the other side.

It looked at Metri indifferently, "Mortal, are you summoning me?"

Metri maintained the circle while saying, "My name is Metri, a Mage from Azeroth, and I would like to ask you to empower my staff."

aluneth snorted, "You are deluding yourself, mortal; this is not a power you should meddle with."

Metri looked at aluneth playfully, "I am not asking; I am informing you!"

aluneth: "Mortal, do you know what kind of being you are facing?"

"I don't need to know!" Metri said coldly, maintaining the circle with one hand and using Arcane Absorption on aluneth with the other.

aluneth's form swayed, and Arcane Energy poured out towards Metri like a flood.

"You—what are you doing?"

Metri: "You are unwilling to empower my staff, so I can only do it myself."

As he spoke, Metri absorbed enough Arcane Energy and then infused it into the staff.

Then he continued to absorb aluneth's energy and infuse it into the staff again.

Repeatedly, aluneth's size continuously shrank.

aluneth wanted to escape, but Metri drove the portal to follow it, not delaying in the slightest from drawing Arcane Energy from it.
