Chapter 39 - Chapter 0039: Demon Lord Modret

Modret was incomparably angry as he stared at Jarvis.

The moment his gaze landed on her, she felt a chill run down her spine.

Jarvis glared at Modret and released her own aura, suppressing the pressure he was emanating. However, it was becoming increasingly suffocating.

'This brat can't possibly be strong. He just awakened a few days ago after all.' As her thoughts reached this point, she suddenly widened her eyes in disbelief.

Golden black scales were beginning to surface on Modret's body. His frame was rapidly hardening, and his core was expanding from within. The mana inside him was increasing drastically as Modret gradually lost his rationality, his emotions replaced by pure wrath and anger.

When his transformation was complete and his final form was revealed to the crowd, they were struck with horror, completely unprepared for what they saw.

"This…" Ronald, who was about to console Modret and tell him who he believed was responsible for everything, froze in his tracks, staring at Modret as though he had seen a ghost.

The others in the surroundings also stared in shock, their eyes wide with disbelief. Jarvis's eyes widened as she stared at Modret, completely stupefied.

Roar.

Modret let out a deafening roar, and then his figure blurred. All his abilities seemed to have been enhanced drastically, becoming at least twice as strong as before.

He could feel that his previous A-grade abilities were no longer comparable to what he now possessed, which had reached the S-grade level. The result of this was clear.

Crack… crack… crack…

The space around Modret distorted slightly as he exploded forward. Jarvis narrowed her eyes as she saw him rushing toward her.

'He wants to kill me?' She found the thought almost laughable. Raising her head, she focused on Modret.

'However, this pressure I'm feeling from him... Even if he is an awakened beast, he should have only awakened barely a week ago.'

She didn't dare to let her guard down and immediately raised her palm, thrusting it forward.

Suddenly, strong gales of wind rose around her. They condensed swiftly into meters-long, glowing green blades.

Modret could feel the sharp, stinging pain of the wind blades pricking against his skin. However, due to his enhanced physique and bloodline, they could not pierce deeply.

His speed remained unrestricted as he slammed his fist forward.

Black flames surged around his body, covering his arm and several other parts of him.

He looked like a terrifying undead creature, and the pressure radiating from him was difficult to suppress.

'This is the SS-rank ability he just awakened. How is it so strong? With my strength at the late-stage cosmos level, I should be able to bridge the difference between us. After all, I possess the S-grade Destructive Wind, but that doesn't seem to be the case.'

Although she analyzed everything happening on the battlefield, she didn't stop for even a moment. She immediately raised her hand toward the awakened beast.

The long wind blades surrounding her surged forward, colliding with Modret's fist.

There were five of them, spanning across the entire platform.

The flames surrounding Modret's fist burst outward, enveloping Jarvis and her wind blades completely.

Whoosh.

Feeling the searing heat on her skin, Jarvis was horrified.

Still, she didn't panic and continuously released more wind blades to surround her and resist the flames.

Just then, her eyes widened as illusions flooded her mind.

This was one of the effects of the SS-grade ability. Before she could react, it felt as if her mind was splitting apart.

She struggled to maintain consciousness and looked around frantically.

Her mind filled with hesitation, but as she felt her soul being consumed by the terrifying hellfire, she could no longer suppress herself. She immediately shouted into the surroundings.

"Save me, Jane! His flames can bring about illusions!"

Her voice echoed throughout the area.

Then, from a distance, a whooshing sound rang out as a figure wearing a blue mask rushed into the battlefield.

There was no visible aura about her, but upon looking closely, one could feel a strange, entrancing pressure.

She glanced at Modret, then at Jarvis, who was engulfed in flames, and without hesitation rushed forward.

As she moved, pink wisps emanated from her body and spread through the air.

They seeped into Modret's mind, attempting to confuse him.

"The Illuminati!" Ronald exclaimed in shock.

'My wife… she's colluding with the Illuminati?' The thought hit him like a hammer. This was a crime punishable by death.

If the Executioners heard of this, they would not hesitate to slaughter her entire family. Ronald was stunned and could hardly believe what he was witnessing.

There was no time to think deeply about it.

'I have to stop Modret from killing her. We can question her and obtain information.' His thoughts raced as he made his move.

Meanwhile, Modret felt the illusions trying to invade his mind and twist his thoughts. However, with his abilities enhanced by his bloodline, he was barely affected.

The SS-grade fire ability, which now seemed comparable to an SSS-grade one, granted him strong mental resistance against such attacks.

Because of that, he focused his complete attention on his battle with Jarvis.

Just then, sharp whooshing sounds echoed through the surroundings.

'More members of the organization?' Modret thought with a frown.

He snapped his gaze toward the sound and realized it was Ronald, his uncle, and several guards rushing forward.

Ronald's voice rang out, "Capture my nephew and capture Jarvis as well! Don't let them escape! Don't kill them, but don't hesitate to inflict serious injuries!"

At his words, everyone nodded and released their abilities.

Ronald no longer paid attention to them. He stomped his foot on the ground, causing it to quake as gravel flew into the air.

Modret narrowed his eyes and clenched his clawed fist repeatedly.

Within moments, his rage overwhelmed him completely.

He would kill everyone present, as retribution for Axel.

He roared loudly. Feeling the cracks in the ground spreading toward him, he quickly retreated, distancing himself from Jarvis as he observed the group.

Although it seemed their goal was to capture both Jarvis and him, Modret couldn't help but look at the people he once called family now surrounding him.

The look in his uncle's eyes showed that he no longer saw Modret as family.

Given the chance, he would not hesitate to kill him.

Modret noticed that same look in the eyes of the others, though it was even more prominent.

Jarvis lay helplessly on the ground, so they seemed to have forgotten about her and were now focused entirely on him.

Modret laughed wildly. "I see… you want to kill me, right?

Come, if you have the strength!"

His arrogant voice echoed through the air.

At the same time, he raised his hand. "Arise."

With those words, his shadow began to condense, forming into a familiar figure — the blue-masked man he had killed previously using the SSS-grade Death Puppet.

"Kill them all."
