Chapter 8 - Fight

Something inside Camilla snapped. Her eyes burned bloodshot as she rose to her feet.

"Something… a little favor, you say?" Her voice trembled, then exploded. "I slept with your boss to save your entire legacy! And now you stand here—calling it a little favor?"

Tears welled up, but her fury pushed past them.

"My mother is dying in the hospital! She needs urgent care—at Acacia! We have the resources, yet you'd rather cut her off. I thought you wanted to protect this family. Instead, you've turned into a greedy bastard!"

Her scream rattled the walls.

A sharp crack split the air—the sound of Samson's hand slapping her across the face. The echo carried through the mansion like a gunshot.

"How dare you, Camilla!" he roared.

She staggered, clutching her burning cheek. Tears spilled freely now, hot and unrelenting, streaking her flushed skin. The pain radiated, but deeper than the slap was the wound in her heart.

Slowly, she straightened, her gaze locking on Samson with a defiance she hadn't shown in years. Memories surged—nights of sacrifice, the victories she had secured for him. She had delivered three of their biggest clients, including the investor who kept their empire afloat. She had fought through lawsuits, hunted down the best lawyer in Country G, and worked herself to exhaustion just to shield his name.

and now, this.

"You slapped me," she whispered, her voice breaking.

The door flew open. Francisca stormed inside, her eyes flashing with venom.

"Oh yes, he did," she spat, "and he would do it again and again.

But mother-in-law, what was my crime?

Asking for a helping hand to save my dying mother, or sleeping with Mr. Lincoln to save your generational legacy. I've kept to my side of the deal. Now it's up to you to keep to your side. Francisca faced a pill when she realized that they were almost at the verge of losing their assets and that Camilla had to sleep with Lincoln just to save them from this trouble. But her face turned back to its normal arrogant look. She gave a smug smile then said

You should be thankful that you were able to pay your debt to my family. We picked you from the gutters and gave you a name, an aristocratic name for that. This is the only way you can pay us for our kindness, Francisca said in a proud manner.

What are you saying Francisca?

I've helped the company win its two biggest clients the company had ever seen since it was founded. I also headhunted the most powerful lawyer in country, Gene, to back you guys up when you had that lawsuit case. As if that was not all, I gave the company its most active investor. What haven't I done for the company? Camilla retaliated in an authoritative tone. How dare you raise your voice on my mother? Something's wrong. Camilla felt frightened. All her boldness left in an instant. She looked pale. Her surroundings became blurry and she fainted.
