Chapter 138 - Leon: Rose, You’ve Gone Too Far!

Eternatus Unleashed!

Ash and the others naturally overheard the earlier conversation.

Gary, hot-tempered as always, immediately said to Leon:

"Then we just break in!"

"That… might not be appropriate…"

Leon hesitated. After all, they were still supposed to be allies.

"Then let me do it!"

Gary summoned his Blastoise.

"You two—move aside yourselves,

or I'll force my way through."

Gary asked the guards very politely.

Guards: "…"

Thanks for the respect—

but this much respect is unnecessary!!

In this situation, they had no idea what to do.

A Blastoise like that was clearly bad news—

and behind Blastoise stood Leon himself.

So the guards made a decision that went against Chairman Rose's orders—

"Please, this way. Elevator to B3~"

A respectful bow.

As the saying goes—

those who know the times are wise.

Once inside, the group rushed toward the bottom of the facility.

[Lorelei: Now that is the attitude of the guy who once swept Kanto's Elite Four without taking a scratch.]

[Bruno: Exactly. If you're young and not hot-blooded, are you even young?]

[Professor Oak: Let's hope this goes smoothly… Eternatus is a Pokémon that almost annihilated Galar in legend.]

[Cynthia: With Ash there, things always turn around.]

Galar – Hammerlocke

Rose watched everything happening on the light screen—

silent.

So this was to be his ending?

Perhaps it was for the best.

He had chosen this path; he would walk it to the end.

Even if doomed to fail, he would never hesitate.

If Galar lost Dynamax,

it would no longer have a chance against other leagues.

Dynamax was the only path to Galar's true prominence.

He only prayed the ending would not be a tragedy.

Galar could not afford the loss.

At this moment, Leon was racing in on Charizard.

Scene—

As soon as Ash's group left,

the guards immediately called Chairman Rose.

After learning of Leon and Ash's arrival,

Rose showed no anxiety—only calm resignation.

It was inevitable.

He rose from his seat, walked to the floor-to-ceiling windows,

staring at the lights of Hammerlocke.

His gaze flickered with reluctant sorrow.

"Oleana…

Let us perform our final dance.

Leon is still too soft.

I'll be the villain.

Let us open a new era for Galar."

His voice was filled with resolve.

For Galar, he would wager everything.

Oleana simply stood behind him silently,

looking at this man who sacrificed everything for Galar.

"Chairman… have you decided?"

"Let's go.

Let us not keep Galar's pride waiting."

He took his coat and headed to the rooftop helipad.

The helicopter had long been ready.

Eternatus was still stabilizing—

they needed to delay Leon's group a little longer.

As Rose and Oleana boarded the helicopter,

the shroud over Galar's sky finally began to lift.

[Leon: Wait—something's wrong! Chairman Rose! What are you planning?!]

[Rose: After all these years, you still don't understand my goal?]

[Leon: We still have time—Galar's revival is inevitable! You don't have to do this!]

[Rose: No—we don't have time! Don't worry, leave the tough part to me. You just finish the aftermath.]

[Professor Magnolia: Eternatus is uncontrollable! You'll only destroy yourself! Stop this!]

[Rose: It's too late for me to turn back!]

All he wanted… was to be remembered as the man who sacrificed everything.

To plunge into danger personally,

and create a new era for Galar.

"Oleana, be ready.

Our Champion is almost here."

Seeing the orange figure rapidly approaching through the sky,

Rose smiled faintly.

The plan was already in motion—

and would not stop.

(The author adds: Rose truly is tragic. Let him have a perfect curtain call.)

Scene—

Ash's group soon reached the deepest part of the factory.

As the elevator doors opened—

a swarm of black-clad operatives blocked their path.

Gary frowned and reached for a Poké Ball—

but Chloe stopped him.

"Leave this to me!

You go ahead—there's no time!"

Staring at the eerie purple glow radiating behind glass panels,

Chloe spoke firmly.

Gary wanted to object,

but Ash spoke first.

"We'll go! Chloe—we're counting on you!"

Pikachu led the way with a blazing Thunderbolt,

clearing a path.

Once Ash's group left,

Chloe summoned her Totem Milotic.

"Your opponent is me!

Milotic—Aqua Tail!"

She stood alone, blocking the entire group of operatives.

At last—

she could help Ash in her own way!

Without interference,

Ash's group reached the factory core.

There, dozens of researchers were panicking around

a massive spherical containment unit.

It spewed waves of eerie, purple light.

Something inside was struggling violently.

Cracks spread across its surface—

with each fracture bursting with even greater energy.

Through the widening gaps…

Ash saw it clearly—

That twisting, metallic-black body.

The same one he saw from the airplane.

A dragon made entirely of black-purple metal.

No flesh.

A skeletal frame like an ancient mythic bone dragon.

"This is… Eternatus."

Ash whispered.

The strange purple light was Galar Particles—

better known as Dynamax Energy.

In its chest burned a glowing violet-pink core,

continuously releasing particle waves.

They burst through the roof and spread across Galar.

"Not good! We need to stop it!"

Leon reacted instantly.

Eternatus was flooding the entire region

with the disaster known as Dynamax phenomena.

Why…?

Why would Rose do this?

Everyone was working hard for Galar's prosperity.

Why bring a catastrophe upon it?

They were so close to restoring Galar's glory.

But this creature—

this horror—

brought only pain.

What was Rose after?!

[Leon: Chairman Rose, WHY?!]

[Rose: I have my reasons! Galar looks prosperous—but it is on the brink of collapse!]

[Mustard: But you can't gamble with the entire region! If you fail, the Darkest Day will return! Galar cannot endure it!]

[Raihan: Exactly! What danger can't we face together?! Why resort to this?!]

[Piers: You've gone too far, Rose! Putting Galar in danger is unforgivable!]

[Rose: I NEVER intended to harm Galar! Galar is my child!]

[Leon: Then why?! If there's danger, tell us! We'll solve it together!]

[Mustard: Little Leon is right! Even these old bones can still fight for Galar!]

[Rose: You think I didn't try?! Galar is running out of Dynamax ore!

Mining costs lives every year!

Without ore, Dynamax will vanish—and Galar with it!]

[Rose: Eternatus is the perfect solution! It produces limitless Dynamax energy!

With it, Galar won't need mines,

won't need deaths,

and will thrive again!]

[Rose: Control Eternatus—control Galar's future!]

His fists clenched, knuckles white.

Everything was on the table.

What would Leon choose?

[Professor Magnolia: Eternatus CAUSED the Darkest Day! It will destroy Galar!]

[Rose: Should we let fear doom us to decline?!]

[Leon: It's Eternatus! You can't control it!]

[Rose: …I have no guarantee.

But I will gamble everything!]

[Leon: You're too extreme! There MUST be another way!]

[Rose: I've searched. There is none.]

[Mustard: Look closely—Eternatus cannot be controlled.]

Silence fell.

Was Rose wrong?

Was Leon wrong?

No—neither was wrong.

They simply stood on different sides.

From a civilian's view, Rose was making a reckless bet.

A gamble with Galar itself as the stake.

If he won—it would be glorious.

If he failed—

Leon dared not imagine it.

The Darkest Day might return.

Scene—

Inside the sphere, Eternatus twisted violently.

The containment unit reached its limit.

Even restrained, its overwhelming aura filled the entire factory.

Researchers frantically adjusted controls.

Even Gary stepped in to help—

But it was futile.

Gary returned to Ash and shook his head.

"This machine is done for.

Get ready for battle!"

A crushing pressure fell upon them—

"The energy levels are spiking!

Eternatus is breaking out!"

"Champion Leon, you should RUN!

This place is going to explode!"

"You all go! Leave this to me!"

But Leon didn't move.

He was the Champion of Galar.

Everyone else could flee—

but he could not.

The researcher hesitated,

then fled with the others.

The sphere shattered.

The beast broke free.

The world was about to face a nightmare.

"Everyone—GO!!"

Ash threw his Poké Balls—

Charizard, Riolu, Raboot, Dragonite, Pikachu, Gengar—

all appeared!

Gary followed—

Blastoise, Umbreon, Aerodactyl, Arcanine, Electivire, Nidoking—

lined up beside them!

"Charizard! Air Slash!"

Leon struck first.

He knew hesitation meant death.

"We're going too!

Everyone—full-power attacks!"

In an instant,

hundreds of attacks rained toward the sphere.

Both Charizards and Aerodactyl soared upward,

blades of wind slicing down.

"Pikachu—Thunderbolt!!"

Lightning filled the entire factory.

BOOOOM!!!

The explosion shook the building.

But the swirling purple light around Eternatus

repelled almost everything.

Their attacks…

could barely even scratch it.

Blinding light forced everyone to shield their eyes—

Everyone except Ash.

His Aura flared.

"No—

it's escaping!!"

Gary and Leon looked up.

Freed at last—

Eternatus blasted through the ceiling

and shot into the sky!

"Leon! Let's go!!"

Ash leapt onto Charizard,

recalling his other Pokémon instantly.

Gary and Leon mounted their own flying partners.

The three pursued Eternatus as it ascended skyward—

Then burst out of the ruined facility,

only to freeze in shock.

Eternatus hovered above the clouds.

Black vortexes devoured the horizon.

The entire sky was swallowed by darkness.

Dynamax energy surged into Eternatus like a tidal wave.

It was the dragon of the apocalypse.

"So… this is the Darkest Day…"

For every Galar native,

the legend was childhood nightmare.

And now—

It was real.

A wave of helpless dread washed over Leon.

But he was Galar's last hope.

He would not retreat.

News helicopters flocked toward the scene,

broadcasting the event worldwide.

Chloe, having defeated the black-clad operatives,

stepped out of the factory—

And turned pale at the sight.

"Ash…

please be safe…"

On live television,

the three figures pursuing Eternatus

were unmistakably visible.
