Chapter 27 - Omake

I have seen the future so listen to my ramblings

"MIDORI! KYOICHI! KYOICHI!"

A bellow went throughout the estate of the Kusanagi clan. Maids and servants who served the clan immediately rushed over to the old frail woman who somehow was out of her bed and seeking for her great-granddaughter and her young master.

"MIDORI! KYOICHI!" She kept on calling. For three days and three nights, the old shaman slept with absolute peace as the time of her end drew near. Today, was the day of her passing for the Nagisa clan's Mystique Eyes told them. But they did not expect the hundred year old ancient woman to start walking around like an unsettled undead creature with frantic grey eyes.

"Grandmother? Grandmother! What is this nonsense grandmother? What has taken you to act and splutter in such a bizarre way?" Even when Nagisa Midori was a young girl of the age of four, she was mature enough to produce such high grammar and language. Her eyes were wide with fear as they gazed at her loving great-grandmother's crazed face.

"Nanny?!" Came the sound of the heir of the Kusanagi clan. Kusanagi Kyoichi, the same age as Midori, came rushing towards the two with maids and the servants already creating a circle around the little show. "Nanny? Midori? What's going on?!"

"Nagisa?!" Came the voice of the current head of the Kusanagi clan as he made his way through the crowd of people. "What on earth is absurd behavior? Has thunder struck upon your head dear Nagisa?"

"Kusanagi!" Cried the elder, no, she screeched, her eyes wide and wavering her voice grew higher and louder that it reached to a point where a person had to know that the elderly was screeching. "Kusanagi!" The woman screeched again. "Kyoichi!" She screeched the third time bringing the confused Kyoichi up close. Kyoichi wasn't scared. He knew that his nanny would never harm him and he trusted her enough to roughly treat him by grabbing his arm up to her saggy bosom. If Kusanagi was any normal father of any normal child, he would immediately put himself between his son and the mad woman but the old prophet's eyes told the seriousness of what she was about to announce to his son so he stayed rigid away from his son, but close enough to save him from death.

"She's coming!"

"Who's coming?"

"The King! The true King of all of us!"

""N-nanny/Grandmother! I don't understand!""

"She would come tomorrow! She would come tomorrow! The savior of humanity, the true leader of all of us! The father who shall protect us from the deadly grasps of chaos, the mother who shall comfort us in the times of despair! The first is gone, gone, GONE! But his successor arrives! The second King of Humans arrives! Her gifted powers shall lift the earth and split the sea! Her eye of wisdom brims with wisdom! She is coming, dear children! She is coming! Be prepared dear children! Be prepared for she is coming! Coming for both of you! BOTH OF YOU!" Screeched the woman as she embraced Nagisa Midori and Kusanagi Kyoichi, indicating that this someone was coming for the two prestigious children of two very profound clans.

"What am I supposed to do, nanny?" Said Kyoichi with determination on his face. This "she" sounded like a dangerous person and she's coming here to take him and Midori away? Not on his watch.

"What do you have to do? What do you have to do?" Kyoichi gulped a spit of saliva out of nervousness. "She is your King! She's everybody's King! Follow her young master, and you too Midori! Aid her when she calls for you two! Aid her, help her, let her guide you and let yourselves guide her in return! Follow her! Love her, for she is our father, our mother! The Gods may have created us but she is the one who treated us like her children! Young master, my loving Midori, Master Kusanagi..." Spoke the old woman nearly at the doorstep of death as she called out to the two children along with the current head of the Kusanagi clan.

"... follow her..." With those unexpected parting words, the old Nagisa moved on to her next life.

"Promise me."

"Yes "

Kyoichi's father and elders along with other members of the Kusanagi clan talked and debated for the entire day and the entire night and prepared for the incoming guest who the deceased Nagisa predicted. Even when the head of the clan never made an official claim to trust the ramblings of a dead woman, they still prepared for the stranger, for "she" to come for a Nagisa's prophecy was never known to be wrong.

Then, the head of the clan announced that he would take the dead Nagisa's words into consideration along with the support of Kyoichi's grandfather and prepare to meet this stranger who the woman claimed to be the leader of humans. The King of Humans. Even when the nanny spoke how he and Midori should follow this "King", Kyoichi wasn't so sure if they could come and take her away. After all, father was the strongest person he has ever met and it was clear that he had no mind in heart to hand his son and the prestigious Nagisa girl over to a stranger that was supposed to come the upcoming morrow. Unless, the child was indeed befitted to be the King of Humans.

Father knelt. It wasn't because he wanted to, it was because the girl, the same age as Kyoichi, suddenly turned up and kindly answered that she was striving to become the King of Humans, and as soon as his father swung his sword towards the girl's neck...

[Gravity]

Ah yes. Nature itself shifted. And that was enough for everybody in the estate of the Kusanagi and Nagisa to kneel and tremble as a sudden invisible thread pulled their bones and muscles pinning them deeper into the stone floor, or the soft dirt. Cracks appeared on the ones who struggled more desperately and Kyoichi had to bite back a cry of alarm when he felt the tense feeling of nature on his shoulders, smothering him with gravity itself.

So, with the head of the Kusanagi confirming his defeat and his acknowledgement to the King of Humans (this was the point where Kyoichi and Midori learned the concept of Sacred Gears and how obviously broken they were) Kyoichi and Midori met their King (Queen), their friend. And in Kyoichi and Midori's hearts they have decided to follow the woman and they watched her kind, mischievous antics, her soft selfless heart that helped everybody in need.

They decided to follow the King as deep inside their hearts they promised nanny/great-grandmother, for they have promised to the head of the Kusanagi clan to follow this King respectfully, they had made a promise and had no intention of going against it. For if they did, the dead Nagisa's smile, oh so full of happiness when they confirmed her that they would follow her wish with a slight movement of their lips of "yes", that ray of happiness as she died happily would be for nothing.

And the fact that she would jump out of the grave and start haunting them to death was also a big reason to keep the promise (this was what Kyoichi thought in the bottom of his heart as a child, and up until today, he denies the fact that he was scared of ghosts and creepy superstitious beings even when his surveilant, a.k.a Nagisa Midori, knew that he was often scared of his nanny's horror stories of how people meet a sticky end when breaking promises).
