Chapter 14 - Gangsters 2

"Really? Do you think the next time Luthor puts the Earth in danger, we can stop him?" David asked lazily, his tone relaxe, making Superman's eyes narrow in response.

"This is all out of revenge for him killing your daughter?" Superman asked, his voice filled with shock and disbelief at what he was hearing.

"It's more than that…" David said calmly after a brief pause. "I heard someone say, 'Survival of the fittest.' It sounded cool, but shouldn't it really be that the fittest person takes the responsibility of making sure those who are not fit survive?"

His voice was light, more Questioning than anything else, leaving Superman and everyone watching the live stream completely speechless.

"Is that not what you do? You could ignore the world's trouble, but you step into danger to protect those without the strength to protect themselves. Not everyone is born with the same opportunities to be strong like us," David said softly, his voice low as he leaned into the point he was making.

"But Killing?" Superman asked with a deep frown, his brow knitting together as he pushed the question out, unable to hide how unsettled the idea made him.

"Yeah, that's extreme. Don't think I would go to someone robbing a bank and kill them. I'm more for the idea of targeting things at their roots. But don't worry, the world will see in 30 days what I meant," David said with a relaxed smile, the calm in his tone underscoring how certain he was of his plan. Superman frowned, clearly uneasy with the whole notion, though he held back from arguing—after all, it wasn't his place to speak, since… well, he didn't really see himself as an earthling.

"Oh, I began watching One Piece. I am kind of disappointed by the fact I watched it at super speed," Superman said, changing the subject with a small grin.

"I told you, you would love it. One Piece is a masterpiece," David said with a smile, his tone light and proud. Superman nodded in agreement, clearly hooked.

The two quickly drifted into casual conversation, talking about the series, their favorite moments, and anything else that came to mind—just two friends enjoying a rare, peaceful moment together.

"By the way, are you still looking for a girlfriend?" Superman asked suddenly, catching David mid-drink. The question hit harder than expected, and David nearly choked as the soda caught in his throat.

"No, I don't think dating is something I should be doing. Plus, who's really looking to date a thirty-four-year-old?" David said lazily, leaning back in his seat. "What's in the dating pool for me are divorced mothers, single moms, and people who are single for a reason or two. And besides, I'm someone who doesn't even love myself—so how could I expect anyone else to love me?"

"That's just sad," Superman said, shaking his head slightly.

David only shrugged. "Not everyone can be as good-looking as you. Just because my physique is better doesn't mean I'm handsome or anything. Anyone who'd want to date me would only be after the thrill of dating a hero."

He sighed, reaching into his pocket as his phone began to vibrate, pulling it out to check the call without breaking his relaxed tone.

"Well, there's a shooting in New York. Are there any other heroes there to handle it?" David asked, glancing toward Superman, who had already sharpened his hearing long before he had pulled out his phone to confirm.

"No," Superman said shortly before vanishing, taking off in a blur of motion as he flew at full speed toward the city.

David followed soon after, his body blurring through the air as he walked effortlessly beside Superman, matching his speed with ease. Superman's brow lifted slightly at the sight—it wasn't every day someone could keep up with him like that. Glancing behind David, he noticed the floating camera orbs trailing perfectly in formation, being pulled along by Blue, keeping their distance yet still recording every second of his flight.

In a heartbeat, the two appeared in Brownsville. David landed on top of a car, the vehicle dipping slightly beneath his weight as he looked down at the chaos unfolding below. A gang shootout was in full swing—gunfire echoing through the streets, bullets tearing into cars and buildings without care for what stood in their path.

David didn't bother to stop them. Instead, he cracked open a can of soda, took a slow sip, and watched the scene unfold as if it were nothing more than a show put on for him. His relaxed demeanor stood in complete contrast to the chaos around him.

The shooting came to an abrupt halt the moment Superman arrived. The criminals froze where they stood, guns lowering as reality caught up with them. After all, he was Superman—there was no winning when he showed up.

"I'm curious, why?" David said lazily, his tone as lazy as always. "You guys are either stupid or have balls of steel if you think no heroes would pop up. Pretty dumb if you ask me."

[Ben-Overbish22] — That's honestly a good question. What do these people even think? "Hey, let's commit this crime — and hopefully the guy whose power lets him heal people miles away won't hear the gunshots."

[Yourmommmy23] — Yo, how is that name even allowed?

[Dixie-Wreched] — Honestly, heroes or not, these gangsters do nothing but commit crimes, sell drugs, and ruin lives. He should just slaughter them.

"Man, shut your white-haired ass up. Just lock us up already, you wouldn't do shit, so don't waste my time hearing you yapping." a gangster sneered, voice low and full of contempt.

In the next instant a blur crossed the space between them, and the man's face met the cold, unforgiving concrete with a brutal smack. He doubled over, crying out as pain flooded him and his lips grazed the pavement.

"Naw, none of you are going to jail. All of you are going to line up and help me clean up these streets…" David said with a smile. Immediately, a hail of bullets spat from the guns of the gang behind him—but mid-flight every round froze, suspended in the air Moments from touching him, while David remained completely unaware.

[Anita-Hanjob] Damn, how did he do that? I thought he was just fast and could make those blue things that suck people in. How did the bullets just stop before they even touched him?

[Pere-D.File] I see what they meant when they said this guy is untouchable. Everything just freezes before it can even reach him.

[Shadowknight923] I wonder if he's gonna cripple them like he did those guards who were just doing their job. Do you even realize how much damage that one guy took from just a single hit?

"I just came up with my superhero name… no, I think I did, judge and executioner.. Well, just call me the Judge. And as for everyone here, I sentence you all to the task of rooting out your gangs; refusal to do so is a beating," David said while cracking his fingers, his gaze sweeping across the group. He paused only long enough to notice the frozen bullets hovering in midair.

"You guys seem to want me to kick your asses," David said with a raised eyebrow, and the words were all it took for the gangsters to turn and flee. In a blur, David tore through them—moving so fast his body was almost a streak—slapping each man at high speed as he ran past.

When he returned to the man he had slammed into the ground earlier, the sight was ugly: the gangsters lay rolling on the pavement, clutching themselves and crying out in pain, bodies wracked and hopping about from the impact. The display went on for a long, brutal minute, leaving even Superman standing there, clearly confused by what he'd just witnessed. To him, David had simply slapped them, but why were they over reacting?

"Now, line up! Take me to your leader!" David said with a smirk. Fearful of another slap, they did exactly as he asked. One by one they climbed into cars, engines revving, and then drove off in a straight line toward the location he'd commanded.

David fell into the role of a street guard, standing in the road and stopping traffic to let the convoy pass. When one car thought to make a foolish run for it, Blue reached out and pulled the vehicle back as if it were on a tether, and the driver was promptly rewarded with a sharp slap.

[TaraDikoff] OMG, this man is treating them like some elementary school children. Lol, look at them crying as they are forced to sell out their own people. I 100% support!

[KnowPain] That's human cruelty, you can't treat them like that just because they committed some crimes. At the end of the day, they are humans and should be treated like one.

[Ben Overtop] STFU The hell is this guy above talking about? Those guys were having a street shoot-out in the middle of the day. How many people were at risk of getting shot? You idiots live in a safe street and don't experience stuff like this. But people out there simply DGAF. Some people are about that life. People who would see That Hell exist and still pull the trigger at a baby because they don't give a fuck.

[SleepyyMoney] The guy above seems to have some personal trauma.

[Ben Overtop] Yeah, my elder brother was in that life. When he tried to leave, he was shot dead by his former gang. He was with my little sister. Fuck those guys. The Judge got my full support.

A few minutes later, the scene had moved on. David was perched on the gang leader's back, casually scrolling through his phone as the men writhed beneath him.

"Man, you guys do it all. Drug dealing, prostitution, human trafficking, and so on… but for now, I want to focus on the human trafficking part. Show me how it's done," David said with a smile.

The moment he spoke, those in power who were watching the live stream grew visibly uneasy. How could they not? Many of them were the very types who frequented those depraved events—the freak shows where people could be bought, sold, and used for their own twisted Kinks. The idea of David calling attention to human trafficking, of forcing the gangs to demonstrate their trade, made the powerful shift in their seats.

Many already knew. Some rappers even boasted in their songs about raping people and throwing them off a bridge when they were done with them. What did anyone do about that? Nothing. But now David was about to show the world everything. How many people in power would be exposed because of it?

"By the way, if this stream is cut for any reason, shape, or form, those responsible will be held to account. Secondly, if you make it hard for people to find my stream, I will come knocking at your doors," David said with a grin, staring straight into the camera.

"Ready?" David asked Superman. The Man of Steel nodded, his expression turning serious.

As they moved into action, someone else in the shadows also moved. Knowing full well that many would try to burn evidence, this figure slipped away to try to save as much as possible before it could be destroyed.
