Chapter Twenty-One: When the Dragon Sleeps, a New Life Begins
Three hours after my free-form training session with Aislin, we were on our way to the cave — the place where we would begin our hibernation to fully absorb our training and complete the bloodline fusion.
After about five minutes of flight, we finally arrived.
Upon entering, I found my mother fast asleep, as usual.
Honestly, I'll never understand her obsession with sleeping so much… Is it laziness? Or does she simply have nothing better to do?
She spends her days eating and sleeping — nothing more.
After glancing at her for a moment, I turned my gaze toward my beloved wife — Aislin.
My beautiful girl… there was a dragon-shaped seal engraved upon her body — the Family Seal, a mark that symbolized she belonged solely to me, mine and mine alone.
I admired the seal for a moment, then smiled warmly and said,
"Alright, my beautiful treasure… are you ready to enter deep hibernation, just like I told you?"
Aislin looked at me with a tired smile, her soft voice trembling faintly.
"Alright, my dear… I'm so sleepy and exhausted… But, A—
I raised an eyebrow in doubt.System, why that skill specifically? It sounds useless… I don't think it'll be of much help."
[Ding! Host, the Opposite-Gender Attraction Aura skill is extremely useful. It requires no energy to maintain, and with it, the host will be able to win the hearts of women easily and quickly.Furthermore, there is a high possibility for this skill to evolve in the future, becoming even more powerful and influential. For this reason, it is considered the optimal choice — especially if the world you are about to be born into is an ordinary one, devoid of energy or supernatural powers.]
I sighed softly, still unconvinced, yet unable to find a good reason to reject the system's suggestion.
"Alright… I'll choose it."
[Ding! Selection confirmed. The Live Another Life card will now be activated.]
Drowsiness began to seep into my eyes, and my body gradually grew heavier — as if I were sinking into a boundless sea of warmth…
The sounds of the world around me slowly faded away, swallowed by the creeping darkness.
And just before I lost consciousness completely, one final thought crossed my mind—No matter what life awaits me… there will be no way back.
From the Third-Person Perspective
In another world…
A maid's trembling voice echoed through the halls as she ran frantically,Master! Your wife—she's given birth to a child!
At that very moment, a new body was born… and with it, a new soul.
A soul untainted by memory — a blank page awaiting the ink of a new story.
Inside a grand mansion belonging to the illustrious Su Family, tension hung thick in the air.
Servants moved swiftly, as if dancing to the rhythm of anxiety, while physicians rushed toward the inner chambers deep within the estate.
The cries of a woman in labor pierced through the cold marble walls, mingling with the calm, practiced voice of the midwife who did her utmost to soothe her.
Amid it all stood Su Tian — a tall man of commanding presence.
His black hair was neatly combed, his sharp eyes gleaming with a mixture of worry and anticipation.
This man was none other than the head of the Su Family — one of the most powerful figures in the Kingdom of the Crimson Dawn.
His fists were clenched tightly, his expression hard as stone, yet he did not dare step into the room — waiting instead for that single moment that would change everything.
Then… suddenly, the silence was shattered by a trembling yet joyous voice: He's born! The young master has been born!
The announcement was followed by the cry of a newborn — frail, yet brimming with life, as if those tiny breaths carried the promise of a grand destiny.
Su Tian's features softened slightly, the weight of worry lifting from his face, though he remained motionless until the midwife emerged from the chamber.
In her arms lay a small bundle wrapped in soft cloth — a fragile miracle.
The servants and elders of the family bowed deeply, their voices filled with reverence as they spoke in unison,Congratulations, Master… it's a boy!
Su Tian stepped forward slowly, his gaze falling upon the child in the midwife's arms.
He was so small — his skin smooth as silk, his features still unformed.
His eyes were closed, yet his tiny fingers trembled faintly…As if trying to grasp something unseen — something forgotten by all, save for that deep fragment of his soul that had never truly died.
Su Tian silently extended his arms and held the infant close to his chest.
For a brief moment, he hesitated — uncertain of what he truly felt.
Was it pride? Responsibility? Or fear?
But one thing was absolutely clear to him — this child was his heir, the continuation of his bloodline, the future of the Su Family.
Su Ling… that shall be your name," he said in a calm, commanding tone as his gaze softened on the baby's still-closed eyes.
Meanwhile, the mother lay upon the bed, her face pale yet adorned with a gentle smile — soft and serene, like the light of the moon.
She looked at her husband, then at the child in his arms, and whispered weakly, her voice faint but full of warmth,Take good care of him… he's our treasure.
Su Tian stared at her for a moment, then down at the fragile life in his arms.
He had no way of knowing that this tiny, delicate being he held for the first time…was, in truth, another soul — one beginning a new life, stripped of every memory of what it once was.
Three years later…
In the Su Family's rear courtyard, where cherry blossoms fell like soft pink rain, the young Su Ling — now three years old — ran joyfully among the trees, his innocent laughter echoing through the gentle spring air.
Behind him, a little girl chased after him with unsteady steps — Su Mei, the granddaughter of the First Elder, not yet two years old.
Her silky hair fluttered with each movement as she called out in her sweet, childish voice,Su Ling! Wait for me!
Her wide, shining eyes reflected the sunlight with pure innocence.
Su Ling stopped, turned back to her with a bright smile, and reached out his small hand.Come on, I won't let you fall!
She hurried toward him, nearly tripping, but he caught her quickly and gently.
Clinging to his hand, she laughed — a soft, crystal-clear giggle — her face glowing with the pure, boundless joy known only to those who have just begun a new life, untouched by regret.
In a small courtyard within the grand Su Family estate, gentle rays of sunlight filtered through the peach blossoms, scattering golden threads upon the dew-kissed grass below.
The air was rich with the scent of flowers, and the laughter of children filled the space — blending with the soft whisper of the breeze that caressed the leaves like a lullaby of innocence.
At the center of that serene scene ran a little boy, no older than three. His jet-black hair gleamed under the sunlight, and his eyes sparkled like stars in a clear night sky.
He dashed forward with unrestrained excitement, his bright smile rivaling the morning sun, and though his face still held the softness of youth, a faint trace of the Su Family's noble bearing already lingered in his features.
Just behind him toddled a small girl, barely two years old. Her light-brown hair fluttered wildly with each tiny step, and her laughter rang pure and bright as she struggled to keep up with him.
Su Ling! Wait for me!
Little Su Mei cried out in her sweet, melodic voice as she ran with all her might, her cheeks flushed pink from the effort.
Su Ling turned toward her with a grin — but not quickly enough.
She bumped straight into him, tumbling onto the soft grass. Her small lips quivered, and tears began to glisten in her wide eyes.
Before she could burst into sobs, Su Ling quickly crouched down, brushed the dirt from her tiny white dress, and gently took her hands to help her stand.
Don't cry, Su Mei! Warriors don't cry!
He said it in a firm, childish tone, trying to imitate how adults spoke.
Su Mei blinked her teary eyes, then nodded vigorously, wiping her little nose with her sleeve as she tried to look brave.
I'm not weak! I'll be strong like you, big brother!
Her voice was full of earnest determination, even though she had no idea what strength truly meant.
Su Ling chuckled softly, placing his hands proudly on his hips. With a confident smile, he declared,Of course! When you grow up, I'll teach you how to become strong — just like me!"
At that very moment, a warm breeze swept through the courtyard, carrying a flurry of pink peach petals that danced through the air like drifting dreams.
Su Mei froze in awe, her tiny heart pounding for reasons she could not understand — there was something different, something captivating about the boy before her.
As for Su Ling, he remained blissfully unaware that a faint, unseen aura had begun to form around him — the system's gift: the Opposite-Gender Attraction Aura.
It was weak then, almost imperceptible… yet it had already begun to stir the hearts around him, softly and silently —just like the first spark before a flame is born.
