Chapter 165 - Symbiote Embryo

Without Maria clutching his neck, Andy finally caught his breath.

"Maria? Maria?"

Seeing Maria collapsed on the ground, Andy gently nudged her a few times.

But he found that Maria showed no reaction at all, and a worried Andy checked Maria's breathing.

She was completely silent, without the breathing a human should have.

"F**k, she's dead. What exactly are the Life Foundation people experimenting with?"

This speed of death made him a little scared; such a rapid death was quite swift.

One moment a perfectly normal person, the next moment suddenly dead without any warning.

Andy suspected that the people at the Life Foundation were conducting some terrifying biochemical weapon experiments.

Otherwise, it would be impossible for a perfectly fine person to suddenly lose their life.

Sitting on the ground, Andy wanted to catch his breath, but several security personnel, alerted by the alarm, burst into the experimental area.

To avoid exposing his whereabouts, Andy no longer bothered with the deceased Maria.

He crouched low, hugging the wall, trying to quietly leave the experimental area, but the security personnel's inspection was extremely fast.

As Andy snuck to the entrance of the experimental area, he was discovered by the security personnel.

"He's over there! Chase him!"

The security personnel's shout startled Andy, who immediately turned and fled.

"Damn it, those guys checked too quickly."

Muttering curses, Andy used several corners to shake off the security personnel behind him.

He rushed out of the Life Foundation, frantically fleeing towards a forest.

Meanwhile, the leader of the Life Foundation, upon learning of the problem, rushed to the experimental area.

Looking at the shattered glass on the floor, the leader appeared extremely angry.

Because his experimental subject was gone; the Symbiote parasitic on Maria, along with the intruder, had escaped the Life Foundation.

The leader furiously smashed everything in Maria's sealed laboratory.

"Go find it immediately! No matter what method you use, you must find the escaped Symbiote!"

The leader, Derek, stopped smashing things and calmed down slightly. He grabbed the subordinate in charge of security and spoke word by word.

He had a total of three Symbiotes in his possession, and now one was lost, which was a huge loss.

Especially the lost Symbiote; it was the one among the three that had the best compatibility with humans.

Yet, precisely this Symbiote had escaped with the intruder.

Just as all the security personnel left, a voice suddenly rang out in the laboratory.

"Mr. Derek, come quickly and look."

Hearing the voice, Derek, as the leader, looked over.

It was one of the Dr.s overseeing the project. Under the light of his source, a dark red egg appeared before him.

"What is this thing? It looks like..."

"...like a Symbiote embryo, right?"

The Dr. found a container and placed the egg inside.

Now they had a Symbiote embryo, meaning they had suffered no loss.

If they could also retrieve the lost Symbiote, they would then possess four Symbiotes.

"I think we should observe the other two Symbiotes as well. Perhaps the same thing will happen."

Reminded by the Dr., Derek turned and ran to the observation room of another experimental subject.

That experimental subject was sound asleep when the laboratory lights suddenly came on.

The experimental subject was awakened by the bright light, looking blankly at the many scholars outside the laboratory, unsure of what had happened.

"How are they doing? Have any new Symbiote embryos been born?"

Looking at the experimental subject in the laboratory, Derek asked the Dr. standing beside him.

He hoped to get the answer he wanted from the Dr.

But the Dr. shook his head, took out a tablet computer, and began operating it.

"Their condition is quite good. This experimental subject with liver problems, his liver is recovering."

The experimental subject's data appeared on the laboratory's glass wall. The data showed that the experimental subject's condition was continuously improving.

"However, these two Symbiotes show no signs of producing. Currently, we only have that one Symbiote embryo."

As they had only just learned that Symbiotes could produce Symbiote embryos, they still needed to conduct further research on this aspect for some time.

Hearing this news, Derek was a little disappointed.

However, he did not lose heart. These two Symbiotes had not yet produced.

Perhaps it wouldn't be long before he could acquire new Symbiote embryos.

"Last night, an accident occurred in the Life Foundation's experimental area, resulting in one casualty and millions in economic losses.

It is reported that someone infiltrated the experimental area yesterday and stole the Life Foundation's research achievements..."

The Life Foundation's accident was reported on the morning of the second day.

As San Francisco's largest company, many media outlets constantly followed it.

Andy, eating breakfast, watched the news report on TV and had a guess.

The situation was definitely not as reported in the news. Perhaps what the Life Foundation lost last night was the Symbiote in their possession.

After all, the Life Foundation was continuously recruiting homeless people, and it was obvious that something was amiss.

"Good morning, Andy!"

Stark held a hamburger and took a big bite.

He sat at the dining table with a satisfied look, watching the news program with Andy.

The news about the Life Foundation had not yet finished broadcasting; the news anchor was discussing the follow-up handling of the Life Foundation.

Looking at Derek being interviewed, Stark tapped the table and said:

"This guy's scientific research capabilities aren't that strong, but he puts on quite a show. In San Francisco, he must be considered a superstar, right?

Speaking of which, if it weren't for you and Norman, I'd also be a superstar in New York."

Saying this, Stark looked at Andy with some displeasure. There were simply too many super-rich people in New York.

Even he only occupied one position among them, not standing at the top of the pyramid.

"Perhaps you could go to Washington. With your financial resources, you would definitely be the top super-rich person there."

Norman's voice came from behind Stark. Norman sat on the sofa with a sandwich, watching the program on TV.

His suggestion was immediately rejected by Stark. Moving to Washington was not a good idea.

"Washington? I think I'll pass. Living next to the White House, I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to resist sending our President into space."

In the U.S., the President is for scolding; it's like a unique unspoken agreement among people.

If the treatment is bad, you can scold him; if an accident occurs, you can scold him; even if you're in a bad mood, you can scold him.

Anyway, the President always comes out when needed to take the blame and bear all the public opinion.

This is also considered part of the President's responsibility, as the real policy decisions are made by the financial groups behind the President.

Saying this, Stark remembered that the Life Foundation also had Symbiotes, and looking at the images in the news, Stark said:

"Last night, could what the Life Foundation lost be a Symbiote?"

It wasn't that Stark didn't consider other things, but he simply couldn't think of anything else that would attract a thief's attention.

The Life Foundation was just an aerospace and biological research company; their products were not enough to attract a thief's attention.

After all, that crashed spaceship was not small. If converted into design blueprints, there could be thousands of them.

And even if they successfully stole the spaceship's design blueprints, who would they sell this thing to?

Companies capable of manufacturing aerospace vehicles don't need a spaceship that crashes upon returning to Earth.

And companies incapable of manufacturing aerospace vehicles wouldn't even be interested if the blueprints were sold at a low price.

So it could only be the Symbiote. Perhaps the thief also targeted the Life Foundation because of its large-scale recruitment of homeless people.

"Speaking of which, should we also capture this Symbiote?

It's currently in the city of San Francisco, capable of preying on humans at any time."

Stark had seen the Symbiote's abilities many times, and he was well aware of the Symbiote's threat to humanity, so he was extremely wary of the Symbiote roaming the city.

Andy nodded, agreeing with Stark's point. Before, they could slowly search for Symbiotes.

Now, with a Symbiote having escaped into the city, they had to be vigilant.

"Tonight, we'll split into two groups. Gluttony can sense the presence of Symbiotes, so I'll stay in the city to search.

The two of you can follow the original plan and continue searching for that red Symbiote."

The two people sitting opposite Andy nodded. They knew this was already the best way to divide tasks.

When the interview in the news ended, Norman stood up and asked:

"I've booked a tour with the Life Foundation. Do you want to come along?"

He had booked the Life Foundation tour early that morning.

Although he wasn't interested in the Life Foundation, he still wanted to see if any Symbiotes still existed within the Life Foundation.

Hearing Norman's invitation, the two decided to go with Norman.

Stark was purely bored, while Andy was because of Gluttony's presence.

He wanted to see if Gluttony could sense other Symbiotes within the Life Foundation.

Seeing that both agreed, Norman glanced at his watch.

"Alright, we'll leave this afternoon."

He still had some research to attend to, and this amount of time was just enough.

"Oh, wow, now it's just the two of us. Want to find some fun?"

Hearing Stark's suggestion, Andy asked in confusion.

"Hmm? What kind of fun?"

This was San Francisco. Although they had been here before.

But they weren't very familiar with it, and they were also public figures. If they went out to play, it would be difficult to get back quickly.

Stark returned to his room, and in a moment, he came out holding two racing game steering wheels.

Waving the devices in his hand at Andy, Stark said with a smile: "Ha~ Look what I found in the room?"

He, of course, knew that he and his companions couldn't go out to wander, but there was nothing entertaining to do here, so he had to dig out the game equipment.

Seeing the devices in Stark's hand, Andy's eyes lit up.

"I haven't played this thing in many years. I remember the last time I played was when I was ten years old."

The two busied themselves around the TV, and before long, they started a game competition.

"Haha, I race often. You absolutely can't beat me."

Stark shot a sarcastic remark at the fully focused Andy.

The car he controlled on the TV also confirmed his words; Stark's car sped along the track in first place.

Andy, however, hovered between second and third place.

After playing for a while, the two gave up.

The game was simply too boring for them; it lacked the excitement of a real race.

"Ah, this is too boring. I'd rather do research than play this game. I really don't know why I liked such things in my childhood."

Andy dropped the steering wheel and complained to Stark.

And Stark hadn't expected a racing game played through a device to be so dull.

At first, he thought it would give him the feeling of a car race, but it was just his imagination.

After tidying up the equipment, the two turned and entered the laboratory.

In their eyes, even research was more interesting than that game.

Time flew by quickly during their research, and soon it was time for them to depart.

Andy and the other two organized their belongings and then set off for the Life Foundation by car.
