"
Doesn't Ms. Jean Grey already know?"
Chen Xi smiled and tapped his head, implying that she had already peered into Tony Stark's mind.
As telepathic Mutants, their curiosity far exceeded that of anyone else, because prying into other people's secrets was truly addictive...
And the beautiful woman before him was one of the few strongest Mutants, Jean Grey, the Phoenix Girl, who possessed a fragment of the Phoenix Force.
"Mr. Chen Xi is indeed extraordinary. You've deceived the entire world. Who would believe that the world-renowned great screenwriter is actually a hidden, super Mutant?"
Jean Grey stared intently at Chen Xi, saying this. How could she not be shocked by such news that could rock the world?
She was investigating the reason for Pyro John's disappearance, and found that he had come to a bar and had a conflict with someone. She was about to invade the minds of the security guards and waiters when the White Queen stopped her.
It turned out that the bar was owned by the White Queen, and she learned from the White Queen that Chen Xi had a conflict with Pyro John and left.
And then there was no "then." Pyro John was gone...
So, everything could only mean that he had taken out Pyro John.
Jean Grey, upon receiving the news, tracked him down, wanting to probe into Chen Xi's background. She hadn't expected that her telepathy couldn't penetrate his mind...
Her abilities were as insignificant as a tiny boat in his mind, unable to support her.
"Are you trying to get information from my brain? And then leave empty-handed?" Chen Xi teased, smiling.
Let alone Jean Grey, who couldn't control the Phoenix Force right now, even the White Phoenix of the Crown Jean Grey wouldn't be able to.
"Yes, everyone seriously underestimated you."
Jean Grey sighed deeply. Who could have imagined this?
"Looks like John didn't die in vain; messing with someone like you means bad luck."
Chen Xi quickly waved his hand; he wasn't taking the blame.
"Don't make it sound like he was innocent. You all know what he was like. Keeping him around would have been a disaster. He wanted to kill me, so I just sent him home, you know? I even cleaned up a traitor for the Mutant School."
"If you really want to thank me, you could treat me to a big meal. I'm not picky."
Chen Xi changed the subject, and started talking nonsense again, as he should.
As for not admitting to it? What did he have to be afraid of?
A true man owns up to his actions. The mutants wouldn't make him hold back. He was Superman, so he was invincible in this world.
Jean Grey couldn't help but smile. This guy had a big heart. He killed one of their people and still wanted them to buy him dinner? Absolutely outrageous!
She was speechless. "Don't you think this is too much?!"
"Too much? Not at all. I'm just cleaning house for you all, preventing him from hurting more Mutants later."
"Do you see the future? You keep saying he'll betray the Mutant School."
Jean Grey was also doubtful; she too questioned Chen Xi's words.
"Of course. I can clearly see everything's trajectory in this world, including you."
Chen Xi put on a show, puffing out his chest.
Isn't knowing the plot's direction the biggest advantage a transmigrator has?
Of course, the further along we go, the less accurate it becomes. The bigger the butterfly's wings flap, the more changes there are.
"Heh, so, can you tell me about my future?"
Jean Grey smiled faintly; she was also quite curious.
"Why don't we find a place to have a drink? It's not very convenient here with so many people watching," Chen Xi said, playing coy.
"Sounds good, I feel uncomfortable too."
Jean Grey nodded; she also felt uneasy.
Ever since she appeared, she sensed people around her pointing and whispering, clearly not being friendly.
Others' abilities are both feared and desired. When one cannot obtain such power, only fear remains.
If it weren't for maintaining the so-called high society decorum, the security guards would have already unceremoniously asked her to leave...
Tony hadn't expected Jean Grey to show up uninvited. The thought that she could peer into people's minds made the muscles in his face twitch involuntarily. He thought to himself, Chen Xi is seriously awesome...
He was in awe that Chen Xi dared to get so close to someone who could read minds.
Ignoring everyone's disbelieving gazes, Chen Xi put his arm around Jean Grey, the beautiful Mutant who made them all keep their distance, and walked away.
Once they were out of earshot, the group erupted in discussion.
"Amazing!! Isn't this guy afraid of Jean Grey pulling all his secrets out of him?"
"Haha, as the saying goes, a hero can't overcome a beauty. This Mutant beauty is a rose with thorns, you have to admit."
"Maybe he's just looking for excitement. Otherwise, how could these scriptwriters come up with scripts that others couldn't?"
"I'm just afraid his bank card PIN will be revealed. We'll just have to wait and see the show."
"..."
No one present thought he'd fare well.
Maybe all the money he'd worked so hard to earn over the years would be swindled away.
A Ferrari moved unhurriedly through the traffic.
The pleasant evening breeze lifted the woman's long hair, making her close her eyes in relaxation.
"It's been a long time since I've gone for a drive, and it's been a long time since I've been this relaxed."
Jean Grey said softly, squinting. Ever since she entered the Mutant School, she had been on edge, constantly running around for the survival of the Mutants.
The recent Congress was even ridiculed by countless people, making her even doubt whether her persistence was still useful…
"Perhaps you shouldn't have to bear this pain. Everyone has their own destiny; you're not the savior."
Chen Xi turned his head, looking at the weary Jean Grey, and said softly.
"But whenever I see the suffering those children endure, I can't truly let go! Seeing the carefree lives of the children at the Mutant School makes me feel like it's all worth it."
Jean Grey shook her head, her tone becoming firm once more.
She couldn't bear to let the children suffer the same hardships she had.
"If we don't succeed, then all the suffering will be meaningless."
Chen Xi murmured softly, gazing at the lights of countless homes. He didn't care where his future lay; he felt he had done enough.
Wandering in this different world, he was like a fallen leaf in the wind, drifting with the breeze. Wherever it landed, that's where it would be.
"Then... then can we Mutants succeed?"
Jean Grey hesitated for a long time before asking hesitantly.
She and the others had lost their way. Everywhere they looked, there was only a vast desert. Even though Chen Xi seemed like a charlatan, she still felt like she was grasping at a lifeline!!
