Chapter 34 - Kitty Pryde Wants an Autograph, Jean Grey Takes the Initiative

Back in the meeting room, Chen Xi showed them the blurry, dim video, as well as the video of John having his neck snapped by an unknown Mutant.

The video showed John getting into an argument in a bar, demanding to be with someone else's girlfriend, and then getting killed after leaving the bar…

Charles and Hank didn't know what to say after watching it.

That guy was always so hot-tempered. He'd strut around everywhere, relying on his abilities, and now he'd finally bitten off more than he could chew.

"Professor, what should we do?"

Hank asked calmly. He thought John deserved it.

Not many people in the school liked John; he was very unpopular, and only Iceman was close to him.

"I'll consider it."

Charles rubbed his temples in pain. John really left him with a headache!

"Haha, I'm really sorry to have to trouble Chen Xi to help us find the real culprit this time."

Charles said with a smile of gratitude.

"Haha, it's what I should do. Jean is my girlfriend, so her business is my business."

Chen Xi waved his hand modestly, saying the polite words perfectly.

Charles and Hank, who didn't know the truth, thought Chen Xi was a great guy, not arrogant and so modest.

After gaining a wave of goodwill, Charles and Hank began to chat with Chen Xi to get closer.

Seeing that it was very late, Chen Xi finally said goodbye.

Charles looked at the time and said, "Haha, time really flies. I'll see you out, Mr. Chen Xi."

"No need to be so polite. We're all family now, Professor. You should rest."

Chen Xi declined the offer. It wasn't easy for the old man to get around in a wheelchair, so he didn't want to trouble him.

"Haha, you're right. Family! Jean, could you see Mr. Chen Xi out for me?"

Charles immediately laughed heartily, quickly asking Jean Grey to escort Chen Xi out. They had a pleasant conversation today, and he felt it was a good start.

"Of course, Professor."

Jean Grey nodded and linked her arm through Chen Xi's as they walked out.

Watching them leave, Charles couldn't help but feel that they were a perfect match. He also felt that the Mutants' world was about to change.

"Jean Grey, wait, wait for me!"

They had just arrived at the school gate when they heard a frantic shout from behind. Looking back, they saw the cute Kitty Pryde running over, clutching a stack of photos.

"Kitty, what's wrong? You're all sweaty," Jean Grey said with a mix of amusement and exasperation, tapping her head lightly.

"Hehe, of course, I'm here for the big star's autograph!" Kitty Pryde giggled, then blinked her big, adorable eyes at Chen Xi.

"Alright, you adorable little girl."

Chen Xi was amused, too. He took the pen and photos Kitty Pryde offered and signed them one by one. It was clear she was representing a group of kids from the Mutant school.

"Hehe, you're so nice."

Kitty Pryde giggled happily. Chen Xi hadn't let her lose face in front of her friends; instead, he'd earned her plenty of respect. Now they'd see who dared to say she was just good for being cute and teasing people!

He was familiar with signing. He'd had someone design the strokes of his signature, and he'd practiced them for a long time, although these hicks might not even know what calligraphy was…

"Thank you!"

Kitty, holding the signed photo, was overjoyed. She bounced away, hugging the photo tightly. This kind of personality was rare among Mutants.

"I really envy this little girl. Unlike other children, she's not always unhappy and lonely," Jean Grey sighed, lamenting.

Chen Xi knew she was thinking of the many Mutant children who were suffering, and how she couldn't change the social status of Mutants…

"Don't worry, I'm here. I'll figure something out."

Chen Xi held Jean Grey's hand tightly and said,

"Really?"

Jean Grey looked up, incredibly surprised. She knew Chen Xi's influence was far greater than hers!

"I can try hard for you."

Chen Xi said with a look of doting affection. This time, he wasn't just making empty promises; he felt he should do something just.

Doing good deeds earned Justice Points. He figured changing the entire Mutants' status would definitely net him a massive amount of Justice Points.

He solemnly declared here that he was doing this entirely out of love and peace. He definitely wasn't doing it for the Justice Points!

Deeply moved, Jean Grey immediately pressed Chen Xi against the car door and started to act up. Was she just overcome with emotion?

Unfortunately, her skills were too poor. She was done for in just a few minutes, and Chen Xi had to finish the job.

I don't know how much time passed, but Chen Xi felt that if they kept at it, the sun would rise. Feeling embarrassed, Jean Grey rolled her eyes at him and quickly slipped away weakly, afraid that if she stayed any longer, there would be blood...

Feeling guilty, Chen Xi went home and snuck into the bathroom to wash away Jean Grey's scent before he dared to enter the house...

"Alright, you're just making it obvious."

Wanda suddenly opened her eyes in the darkness and said, annoyed.

"Ahem, you weren't asleep?"

Chen Xi scratched his head awkwardly, feeling guilty. He was caught red-handed, which was incredibly unlucky.

"I can't sleep if you're not here. Promise me you'll come back every day from now on, okay?"

Wanda burrowed into his embrace, murmuring softly…

Seeing her so delicate, like a pitiful little kitten, Chen Xi's heart ached. To have such a wife, what more could a man ask for?

"Wanda, I promise I'll never abandon you. If I do, may I be struck by lightning and die a horrible death."

Chen Xi's voice was low, but his words were resolute as he made his vow.

"Shh! Don't say such things. I believe you."

Wanda quickly covered his face, her voice urgent. This girl really spoiled Chen Xi; it was just because Chen Xi had broken through the darkness that day and brought her out of misery.

"Wanda, you're truly wonderful," Chen Xi said sincerely.

"Ugh, I really believed your nonsense, indulging you. Oh, you rascal, is this how you thank me?"

Wanda, still pouting, hadn't finished speaking when she felt a sudden attack, which almost made her want to shut down…

"Hehe, this kind of thanks is the most sincere. I'm showing my gratitude with actions for your indulgence."

Chen Xi grinned mischievously, spouting nonsense.

"Get lost! Who's afraid of whom!"

Everything seemed to suddenly calm down, and the following period was peaceful.

Parker, as expected, became New York's friendly neighborhood hero.

Tony relied on chlorophyll to stay alive while researching new energy sources every day.

Gwen also followed the Terminator in pursuing criminals; this was her superhero dream.

Chen Xi still basked in the sun every day, living the life of a salted fish. His strength steadily improved daily, and he even unlocked flight.

But he always felt like he'd forgotten something!
