Luke couldn't make any guarantees; he didn't know how crazy his subordinates would become under the influence of rage.
In a sense, Luke was the one who most wanted Hal Jordan to live. Only with him alive could the Green Lantern Ring be controlled by Luke. If Hal died, the ring would automatically seek out its next owner as per its programming.
That would create many uncontrollable variables.
For Luke, who liked to keep everything firmly in his grasp, the most annoying thing was an unexpected turn of events, but such things always happened unbidden.
After breakfast, a special guest arrived at the villa.
To be precise, she couldn't be called human. With purplish-blue skin and a face similar to a human's—two eyes, two ears, a nose, and a mouth, but no hair—her eyes were pure blue. As for her figure… Luke stroked his chin, carefully observed her for a few moments, then reluctantly averted his gaze.
"Miss Alien, on Earth, it's very impolite to trespass into someone's house without the owner's permission. Moreover, you're dressed so revealingly."
Vi-Lenn said indifferently, "You like me!"
Luke was stunned, not reacting for a moment. After a few seconds, he said with a strange expression,
"Miss, please don't overestimate yourself, okay?"
Vi-Lenn smiled faintly, her pure blue eyes seemingly possessing the power to see through people's hearts.
"I can feel the fleeting desire in your heart. You want to violate me, to possess my body."
Luke: ... "This is the ability of a Violet Lantern Ring wielder—insight into emotions. Her Majesty will also possess it. Under her gaze, all your love and hate will have nowhere to hide."
Luke frowned slightly, "What exactly do you want to say?!"
Vi-Lenn extended her left hand forward, swung her right hand back, and slightly bent her knees, bowing to Carol, who appeared at the top of the stairs.
"Your Majesty, Zamarone elite warrior Vi-Lenn salutes you."
Carol was startled and quickly clutched the ring in her pocket. Seeing that the other party had no intention of attacking, she breathed a slight sigh of relief.
"You are… her?"
"Yes."
"Why? Why do you insist on finding me? I've already said I won't leave Earth, much less become your queen."
"I came today precisely for this matter."
Vi-Lenn stepped forward, bowed again, "After careful consideration, we have decided to respect your choice and will no longer pressure you. I will ask one last time: are you truly unwilling to succeed to the throne of the queen?"
Carol didn't hesitate at all and immediately nodded.
"Yes, I am unwilling."
"I understand." Vi-Lenn sighed softly, seemingly lamenting something. "Since you are unwilling to accept the queen's authority, please return the Star Sapphire to us."
Carol quickly reached for the ring, but halfway, she froze. The Star Sapphire had been transformed into a ring under Luke's manipulation. How could she explain it? Was she supposed to say it had a problem on its own? Who would believe such a story?
Vi-Lenn pressed on, "Your Majesty, is something amiss?"
"N-No!"
Carol quickly shook her head, looking at Luke for help.
He frowned tightly, feeling that something was off. This alien female warrior, well-endowed in the chest, had changed too much. Before, she had constantly pestered Carol, practically wanting to hoist her onto the throne. Two days later, she suddenly didn't care anymore.
What happened in between? Or was it just a simple test? With too little information, Luke couldn't guess her intentions and could only prevaricate,
"Miss, I regret to inform you that the stone you're looking for is not in our possession."
Vi-Lenn narrowed her eyes, her gaze shifting to Carol. "Your Majesty, is that true?"
The girl nodded repeatedly, forcing a smile.
"Yes, it suddenly flew away. I don't know where it went."
As her words fell, the air suddenly fell silent.
Vi-Lenn looked up, staring only at Carol's eyes. The latter awkwardly looked away, unwilling to meet her gaze. After a brief silence, Vi-Lenn bowed again and said earnestly,
"Your Majesty, you are the queen of the Zamarons. As queen, you must not lie to your loyal subordinates; it will break their hearts."
"She's not lying!"
Luke walked over and stood in front of Carol, smiling, "If something is gone, it's gone. If you don't believe me, go find it yourself. You said before that the Star Sapphire is a symbol of the queen. As long as you get it, you can also become queen, right?"
The smile on Vi-Lenn's face vanished, her pure blue eyes like millennia of cold water, exuding a chilling dread.
Luke took a step forward, his clothes melting and transforming into black armor covering his entire body. Seeing the situation turn bad, Carol quickly grabbed the ring. After Luke shook his head, she could only suppress her unease and put the ring back in her pocket.
Their small actions did not escape Vi-Lenn's sight. Her eyes were fixed on Carol's pocket.
That magnificent love! That almost infinite emotion!
That's right, it's it!
Star Sapphire? No, it should be called the Original Lantern Ring, the first ring crafted by the ancient people using the Violet Light will. Unlike other Lantern Rings, the Original Lantern Ring did not require recharging and possessed infinite energy. It was also the vessel for the Lantern Beast. By mastering it, one could summon the Predator, a being more terrifying than a god, and become the most powerful entity in the universe.
Vi-Lenn was unsure why the Star Sapphire had become the Original Lantern Ring, but this did not prevent her from having other ideas.
The Zamarons needed a queen to lead them forward. The queen had to maintain absolute rationality; only then could the Violet Lantern Corps survive in the complex and ever-changing cosmic environment.
Carol Ferris was not a good candidate. Her love was too pure and singular, only directed at one person. Such a person could not become queen, unless the person she loved was killed. But if that were done, no one could guarantee that pure love wouldn't turn into pure hate.
Between love and hate, there is often only a thin line—this is the Violet Light will.
Among the seven emotional spectrums, violet light is at the extreme edge, a highly unstable energy. Whether it is love or hate, when developed to the extreme, it will distort and evolve into an all-consuming desire.
Vi-Lenn, who had been pondering whether Carol was qualified to be queen, did not notice that, unconsciously, her own love had also changed.
The atmosphere grew heavy, like the calm before a storm.
Luke clenched his fist and whispered, "Ava!"
Boom!
A black mech burst from the ground, half of its muzzle aimed forward.
Bang!
Blue energy projectiles simultaneously fired, converging in mid-air into a thick energy cannon, striking Vi-Lenn with full force.
A loud bang!
A blue shockwave rushed forward like a hurricane. Luke picked up Carol and burst out of the villa through the window at the stairwell. Just as they landed, another explosion erupted behind them. The blue torrent broke through the wall and created a massive spray of water on the distant lake.
"Are you okay?!"
The girl shook her head, took out the Lantern Ring, and put it on her finger. A battle suit covered her body, and the beautiful, intelligent Carol vanished, replaced by the sexy, wild Star Sapphire Queen.
