Chapter 154 - Chapter 154 Defender

A meteor shower rained down from the sky.

Such a beautiful description often appears in romantic poems or movies, but if a meteor shower happens nearby, it's a different scene altogether.

Luke and Carol lived not far from the city, and when the meteor shower appeared in the sky, many people noticed it.

A sky full of fiery rain descended, bringing with it an aura of destruction that filled people with uncontrollable fear.

Two seconds later, the meteor shower hit the ground!

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! ! ! !

Continuous tremors came from afar, the earth undulated like the sea, and dust rose everywhere, forming a sky-obscuring fog.

The shockwave, mixed with flames and dust, spread outwards like a halo. Wherever it went, trees were incinerated, rivers evaporated, mountains shattered into fragments, and hills turned into plains.

Luke and Carol set up more than a dozen layers of energy shields around their bodies, yet they were still thrown back, tumbling hundreds of meters with the shockwave before finally stopping.

Phantom No. 1 was pressed under tree trunks and rocks, its surface covered in dust, looking quite disheveled.

"Luke, how are you? Are you alright!"

"I'm fine."

Luke coughed, blue flames erupted from his back, clearing away the broken tree stumps, and he landed beside Carol.

The two found a hill with an open view, and after looking around at the surrounding scene, they were speechless.

Coast City is located on the west coast of the United States, with a typical Mediterranean climate. The weather is mild year-round, dry with little rain, and abundant flowers and plants, making for pleasant scenery, especially with its unique natural beauty.

The scenery in the suburbs of Coast City ranked first among all major cities in the United States, but now it had completely changed.

Trees and flowers were all gone, the land was barren and covered with large and small craters, and black smoke rose everywhere, spreading across the sky like a battlefield.

Carol opened her mouth, and after a long while, she whispered, "I won't use meteors anymore."

"Don't overthink it. The key is the mysterious woman; we absolutely cannot let her escape."

"She should be dead, right!"

Carol said uncertainly. Veelox was at the center of the impact zone. Even if she used a giant cannon to shatter the meteors, she would have received the strongest impact. Under that level of impact, very few people could survive.

Luke shook his head, "I haven't seen a body. Everything is still unknown."

The two began searching for traces of Veelox from the edge of the area, stopping when they reached the central zone, where a purple light shimmered from a broken rock ahead.

Luke raised his hand, and an energy blast shattered the broken rock.

A purple light emerged, revealing a spherical barrier about three meters in diameter.

Carol exclaimed, "It's her! She's still alive!"

Veelox propped herself up with her left hand, slowly climbing to her feet. Blue blood flowed down her skin, forming a small puddle on the ground. She looked extremely miserable: her left leg was broken, her right arm was bent at a ninety-degree angle, and her battle suit was in tatters, unable to even cover her chest. Her pair of large blue lights were completely exposed, and with a gentle breeze, they surged like waves.

Carol's face flushed, and she growled,

"Close your eyes! Don't look!"

Luke: ...What does that mean?

Are you underestimating me? I, Young Master Xiao of Coast City, with an IQ over 180 and an EQ over 150, how could I have feelings for a blue-skinned alien? Even if her chest is big and firm, her waist is slender and soft, and her butt is round and perky, I, Luke Xiao, wouldn't feel a thing.

Really. If you don't believe me, touch my chest; it's cold as iron.

Carol couldn't be bothered with him. Having been with Luke for over three years, how could she not see his true nature? To put it nicely, he was a horny dog who couldn't control his lower half, always getting starry-eyed at anyone with a good figure. The only thing stronger than a dog was his self-control.

She stepped towards Veelox, stopping twenty meters away, and said in a deep voice,

"Take off your power ring, and I won't kill you."

Veelox trembled, raising her right hand, and giggled,

"Your Majesty, I must apologize to you. I shouldn't have underestimated you. You truly possess the qualifications to become a queen. Unfortunately, all of this happened too late. The original power ring is mine, and you must die."

She clenched her right hand.

A humming sound came from above. Carol, seeing the bad turn of events, was about to launch an attack when her body suddenly flew backward, crashing heavily to the ground.

The air shifted, and a silver-gray metal sphere emerged. The metal sphere was as large as a two-story building, looking very smooth, yet no light reflected from it. It hovered in mid-air, emitting a humming sound.

Spaceship?

Zamarron technology?

Luke's heart stirred, and he quickly said, "Ava, I want that sphere."

"I'm sorry, Young Master. The surface of the metal sphere has a strong interfering magnetic field; signals cannot penetrate from the outside."

"What about the inside?"

"Data unknown, still unclear."

Veelox wiped away the bruised blood from the corner of her mouth and said proudly,

"Your Majesty, Zamarron not only has the Violet Lantern Corps but also scientific technology far beyond Earth's. You might be able to defeat me with the power of the original power ring, but you cannot kill me. The Defender will protect me."

"I don't think so."

Luke didn't hesitate, immediately launching an attack. He rushed to the metal sphere at an extremely fast speed, clenched his right fist, and with blue light emanating, struck with all his might.

Buzz!

The sound emitted by the metal sphere suddenly intensified, and the sphere vibrated at an extremely high frequency. A layer of constantly undulating spatial ripples appeared on its surface. His fist struck the ripples, as if sinking into a quagmire, its power being decomposed layer by layer. Not only that, the ripples continuously rubbed against his gauntlet, even beginning to penetrate inwards.

"What strange technology."

Luke pulled back, and cannon muzzles emerged from his shoulders. Two energy blasts hit the energy sphere. The next second, amidst intense vibrations, the blue energy was decomposed and consumed, turning into specks of blue light.

"What the hell?"

Luke was stunned; he had never seen such technology.

Veelox unceremoniously mocked him, "Earthling bumpkin, in the face of Zamarron technology, your weapons are like javelins in the hands of savages."

While ridiculing Luke, she didn't forget to involve Carol. As she spoke, she flew forward. The Defender had a complete medical system; no matter how severely injured she was, as long as she wasn't dead, she could recover completely within three hours.

Unfortunately, the idea was beautiful, but reality was cruel. How could Luke let her in? Eight spider-leg-like firearms emerged from his back, and blue energy bullets turned into a rain of light, pouring down on Veelox.

At the same time, Carol flew out of the meteor crater, pointed her hand, and a barrier appeared in front of Veelox, blocking her path.

Luke shouted, "I'll deal with her; you focus all your efforts on restricting the metal sphere. Don't let it escape."

The girl nodded, waving her hands. Numerous purple barriers appeared around the metal sphere, wrapping it tightly like a zongzi.

The metal sphere struggled violently, and the spatial ripples on its surface expanded outwards, destroying layer after layer of energy barriers. But no matter how many it destroyed, new barriers would appear.

Seeing this, Veelox's face became incredibly grim.
