Chapter 178 - Chapter 178 Superpower Five

The key to modern warfare is air superiority; whoever controls the air force controls the direction of the war.

With five Tiger helicopters and two F16s successively destroyed, the air power was gone, and they could only rely on ground forces and over two hundred special soldiers from the Fourth Mechanized Infantry Division.

Hektor descended from the sky, hovering ten meters above the ground, his dark yellow eyes scanning around, greedy and hungry, like a large lizard choosing its next meal.

Wherever his gaze landed, everyone's bodies trembled uncontrollably.

"I like you all."

"The Fourth Mechanized Infantry Division, an ace army that has achieved countless military feats. I love you to death. You are like delicious strawberry shortcakes, making one want to devour them whole."

"Come on, attack me, unleash your fury, and then transform it into endless fear."

"I love your fear."

A hoarse voice echoed through the street, clearly heard by every soldier. A sense of humiliation welled up from the bottom of their hearts, and the soldiers gritted their teeth, feeling incredibly stifled.

As the army's ace, the Fourth Mechanized Infantry Division was always the center of attention wherever it went. How could they have ever endured such humiliation?

Carick took off his hat, threw it on the ground, picked up an assault rifle, and charged. Other soldiers followed closely behind, a group of people forming a torrent, creating a circular encirclement.

Bullets flew out, dense as rain, showering down into the air.

The air suddenly became thick, countless times heavier, like sludge wriggling and changing in a wetland.

Hektor chuckled, extending a finger and gently tapping.

Time paused, all the bullets shot at him mysteriously stopped, and then reflected back at an extremely fast speed.

Suppressed groans sounded all around.

In just one instant, dozens of soldiers were injured or killed.

In front of the powerful Hektor, the Fourth Mechanized Infantry Division, known as the army's best, was a joke.

Carick refused to admit defeat, roaring as he charged forward. The next second, he was hit hard in the chest, his knees buckling, staggering and falling to his knees on the ground.

Hektor came before him, looking down from above.

"You are their captain."

"Nothing special, are you!"

His lips curled up with deep disdain. He used to envy soldiers, most of whom were tall and strong, unlike him, who was short and ugly, unable even to find a girlfriend. Now?

He chuckled twice, then raised a finger and aimed it at Carick's head.

Psychic energy swirled at his fingertip, transforming into an invisible impact. Suddenly, an unusual sensation came from the side, and he instinctively turned his head.

The ground surged, and a stone pillar burst out of the earth, incredibly thick, directly sending him flying.

Hektor, in mid-air, raised an eyebrow slightly, a little surprised,

"Superpower? Interesting."

Curious, he was about to see which daring fellow it was when the sunlight suddenly brightened. A white beam of light shot from a building, enveloping Hektor's body. The light beam seemed to be compressed from countless sunrays, carrying extremely high temperatures, not only temporarily blinding him but also leaving large black marks on his body.

At the same time, three individuals in tight suits appeared at the street corner.

If not for the FBI logo on their chests, the terrified soldiers would have almost mistaken them for enemies.

Stan Daloff said with extreme seriousness,

"There's only one chance."

The other two nodded heavily. Maeve closed her eyes, her skin turning red, and her body temperature rapidly rising.

The other person's body grew taller, his limbs becoming incredibly thick, his muscles bulging. In the blink of an eye, he transformed from an inconspicuous 1.7-meter man into a giant over 2.5 meters tall.

He grabbed Maeve's ankle, spun around, and then threw her with all his might into the air.

Stan Daloff took a deep breath, hovering in mid-air, his eyes filled with light. His psychic energy transformed into a large hand, tearing at Hektor's protective vortex with all its might.

The energy gap between the two was too large, like an adult and a child. Stan Daloff used all his energy, even spitting blood from his mouth, and could only tear open a one-meter-wide small gap.

This… was enough.

With the added immense force, Maeve, flying at high speed, shot through the small opening like an arrow.

When she reached Hektor, her skin had already turned deep red, like a glowing hot iron, with an astonishingly high temperature.

"Die!"

Maeve roared, hugging Hektor's body, and all the accumulated heat within her body erupted.

Boom!

An unimaginable roar came from above. A red dot appeared in the sky, compressed inward, and then transformed into a giant fireball with a diameter of over ten meters.

Boom!

A wave of flames rushed down from above. All the soldiers on the street were sent flying backward. Flowers and grass burned, water vaporized, streetlights melted and dripped like molten iron onto the lava-like road.

This level of attack was truly terrifying, almost comparable to a small nuclear bomb.

The street was utterly destroyed, two buildings collapsed into ruins, and a dozens-of-meters-wide dust-free zone appeared at the center of the explosion.

After a long while, the flames slowly dissipated.

A naked woman fell from the sky, caught by a giant hand made of rock, and carried into a nearby building.

Carick, with the help of his subordinates, crawled out from under a car, his eyes filled with hope as he looked up. Many others were like him: soldiers, civilians, and all five of the FBI's strongest combatants looked up, even the house cat, startled by the battle, quietly peeked out its head.

At this moment, the time had reached six in the evening.

The sunset painted the world in red, and with the faintly visible headland in the distance, where the sea and sky met, it was truly breathtakingly beautiful.

"Is he dead?"

"Probably!"

"With an attack like that, it's impossible for him not to be dead."

"That damned bastard, dead and gone, not even a speck of dust left."

"Yes, he's dead."

"Finally dead."

"Hektor Hammond is dead, we won, we won!"

Some people cheered loudly, jumping and shouting, extremely excited. The joyful atmosphere spread, and soon, the entire street became lively.

Only Stan Daloff's face was tense, staring intently at the collapsed building in the distance. His companion sensed something, grabbed his head with both hands, his face full of disbelief,

"No way, fuck! How is that possible!"

"That was Maeve's highest energy. He didn't die from that?"

Stan Daloff's face grew increasingly grim. When he sensed the rapidly strengthening psychic energy in the ruins, he couldn't help but roar,

"Run! Run quickly, he's still alive, he's not dead."

"Retreat immediately!"

Before his words finished, shattered stones mysteriously flew up, one after another. Soon, the entire ruin, hundreds of stone bricks, floated into the air.

Yellow particles overflowed from within, carrying Hektor's almost shattered half-head into everyone's sight.

At this moment, the world fell silent.

Carick clenched his fists, his face showing deep unwillingness, but in the depths of his eyes, fear spread.

He was scared, everyone was scared. This was not a psychological factor, but a biological instinct shown when facing absolute power.

Power brings despair, despair breeds fear, and once fear takes root in the heart, it only takes a blink of an eye to grow into a towering tree.

What Hektor wanted was this fear; he fed on fear, and fear was the source of his power.
