"Your magic... It's—" Gray pointed his finger at Kazu.
"Seeing the future, right? You are a seer."
"..."
Kazu dumbfoundedly looked at him for a few seconds.
'How can somebody be so right, yet so wrong?' Kazu didn't know what to feel about Gray's prediction.
He was wrong about his magic, but his statement wasn't completely wrong either. Kazu technically is a seer as he knows a lot of knowledge about future events in this world.
"I...You are wrong. I don't have the magic to predict the future." Kazu carefully worded his statement. He wasn't going to share about his past life anytime soon, but he didn't want to straight-up lie here.
He's going to bluff.
"You don't?" Gray raised a brow.
Kazu nodded. "My main affinity is Instinct magic. As the name suggests, it enhances my instincts."
Gray blinked. "Hold up. That only explains your good combat instincts. What about your terrifying learning capabilities? As if you already know how to do everything?"
"I can instinctively know how to correctly do something. That's part of the magic."
Gray opened his mouth, but no words came out.
He just looked at Kazu with his mouth open.
"No way... That's ridiculous."
Kazu nodded. "Indeed, it's ridiculous."
Suddenly, Gray's eyes widened. "So, when you analyse people, then does..."
Kazu nodded. "Yeah. Though I knew the technique before, too. It also indirectly led to the creation of one aspect of that magic, which allows me to more accurately predict what another person is going to do. Though it isn't all-knowing. It has limits, like how I got outsmarted by Laxus today."
"Damn. That's still some awesome magic. No wonder you are progressing so fast, your magic is made to progress you... Though I don't want to say that to dismiss your efforts. You train the hardest in the guild. Only Erza could compete." Gray quickly shook his hand, not wanting Kazu to misunderstand.
"It's fine. My magic plays a big role in who I am currently." 'It would have taken too long to reach my current level if I hadn't had Instinct magic. 2 or 3 more times probably.'
Gray nodded. "Anyway, so you're teaching me, how is that related to your magic?"
"The thing is, I can easily learn the principles that govern ice magic. Though I won't be able to apply it properly due to affinity issues, I could still teach you. Moreover, it would help me with my understanding of magic in general, enhancing my Barrier magic."
Gray smirked. "I think it's a pretty good idea, especially since I am the one who is benefiting most."
Kazu smirked too. "Will see about that. How about we start straight away?"
With that, both of them exited the infirmary.

"Gray, really, has come so far," Kazu muttered as he walked through the streets of Magnolia.
'It's just 2 months, but his progress is pretty fast.'
Kazu took out a paper from his bag. It contained the information for his next mission.
'Though I did ask for a hard mission, did I somehow offend him?' Kazu wondered as he skimmed through the document again.
[ Mission Title: Capture Veyren
Client: Council of Magic – Special Enforcement Division
Objective: Track down and apprehend the fugitive dark mage Veyren Kalt, wanted for multiple counts of murder, extortion, and forbidden magic use.
Background:
Veyren Kalt has eluded capture for over a year, hiding in remote regions of Fiore.
The last two mages dispatched on this mission vanished without a trace; no contact was ever reestablished.
Locals report unnatural disturbances—dead livestock, vanishing travellers, and villages plunged into silence.
The Magic Council has found evidence that Kalt is experimenting with rituals tied to soul-binding magic, making him especially dangerous.
Kalt seems to be specialising in Stealth magic, which has enabled him to remain uncaught for this long.
Conditions:
Mission has been inactive for 6 months due to extreme risk.
Only parties confident in their combat ability must attempt.
Difficulty: S-Class (Uncleared for 9 Months)
Reward: 12,000,000 Jewels + commendation from the Council.]
'I am still far from an S-rank mission, but the master said that this mission is S-rank due to how long it has been uncleared, not due to the combat capability. Though he did say to be careful. It's also fine if I do some investigation for a while and return empty-handed.'
Kazu put the document back in his waist bag. 'Maybe I should learn basic reequip magic from Erza. Things would be so convenient.'
He turned around the corner. However, suddenly, somebody collided with him.
"Careful there." Kazu's hand already grabbed the other person's hand before they could fall.
He raised a brow when he felt their hand.
"I am sorry about that." The other person was a girl around the same age as Kazu. She was wearing a hoodie and gloves, which hid her palms.
'She's a pretty cute kid.'
"No worries. Though is that transformation magic?" Kazu asked as he lightly squeezed their hand, which he was still holding.
"Y—yes" The girl was seemingly shocked for some reason.
"That's cool. Do you mind if I can see?" He pointed his finger at her hand.
Before the girl could reply, somebody else came between the two.
"Hey! Stop bullying my sister." A slightly shorter girl stood with her arms outstretched, as if protecting the other girl.
A boy around a similar age to her also stood on the other side, as he cautiously looked at Kazu.
"Bullying? I think you are misunderstanding." A grin naturally crept up Kazu's face.
He suddenly felt his heart ache slightly, which he ignored.
"Yeah, you two. We were just normally talking." The older girl pulled the other two at her side, while throwing an apologetic look towards Kazu.
"You guys were talking?" The younger girl tilted her head in confusion.
Kazu nodded. "Yeah, I was just talking to your cute older sister about her magic."
"C—cute?" The girl stammered as she felt her cheeks redden. She hasn't been called cute by anybody in a long time.
Before she could ask any say something, her younger sister beat her to it. "You think nee-chan is cute? Why do you think so?"
Kazu paused. He hadn't expected to be interrogated on the random comment he made.
"Well...I kind of like the white hair she has. It's rare. Moreover, her big, wide blue eyes kind of give a...innocent touch? That combination makes her cute. Also, the hoodie enhances that."
'The hoodie reminds me of a kid getting dressed in a raincoat. It just looks so cute. Though if I say that out loud, she will probably get offended.' Kazu remembered how one time Cana got angry when he commented on her raincoat.
The girl, on the other hand, had steam coming out of her head. Her face was now redder than a tomato.
Kazu was too busy with his thoughts, so he missed the older girl's expression.
"Oh. Though you guys are cute too. The white hair is pretty cool." Kazu quickly said to the two.
"Hmm, mister, are you a mage?" The younger girl ignored Kazu's compliment and instead asked him a question.
"You could say that. I am officially a mage. Currently on mission." He patted his waist bag before stretching his hand. A small blue sphere materialised above the palm, as it rapidly changed shape.
"Wow! That's so cool." The girl was already impressed.
Kazu rubbed his head. "You haven't seen half of it."
"Do you know the way to the Fairy Tail guild?" The boy finally spoke for the first time.
Kazu nodded. "Yeah, it's hard to miss. Just go straight in this direction. You will know when you reach it."
'Are they trying to apply for guild members? Or do they want some help?' Kazu glanced at the older girl's glove-clad hands.
"Thank you for your help!" The older girl thanked him.
This prompted the other two to also mimic her.
"Thank you, mister!"
"Thank you."
Kazu felt the sight cute. "You guys are embarrassing me. I just gave the directions."
He then looked at them for a few seconds before speaking again. "You guys are pretty close."
"You can tell?" The older girl tilted her head.
Kazu nodded. "Yeah, seeing how those two are guarded about you and how you are continuously looking for escape routes, I could tell that you have gone through a lot."
His casual words, along with what he said, caught the older girl off guard. She stiffened and looked at Kazu with a guarded expression.
The latter raised his hands in a surrender. "Sorry about that. I mean no harm. Just found that a bit odd, so decided to share."
"It's fine." She eased her expression, but was still cautious.
"Anyway, I didn't ask your name. I am Kazu. Kazu Sukehiro."
"I am Mirajane Strauss."
Kazu looked at her in shock, as if he had seen a dragon. "The—What?"
