Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Land Reclamation in Progress

The next morning, Finn had another good night's sleep.

There was no concept of time here, so Finn would wake up when the sun rose and go to sleep when the sun set.

His life was very regular.

But it was also incredibly boring.

When he pushed open the door, piles of mountain-like objects filled the courtyard, and Redfield, dressed in a farmer's outfit, stood at the door like a butler.

"Respected Sir, what you asked for is ready. What do you need me to do?"

Uh...

Finn shook his head. He hadn't seen Redfield for a day and had thought he had run away, but he didn't expect him to actually come back with so many things.

"Well, you worked hard; you worked hard."

Recalling the way Redfield had turned and left that day, Finn still felt a little startled.

"Oh, Redfield, was your flying away that day natural or…?"

"It was a Devil Fruit, Sir."

Redfield was already used to Finn knowing very little about this world, so he explained the situation of the Devil Fruit in detail to Finn.

Finn smiled knowingly, thinking to himself, If I had that kind of ability, wouldn't I be able to go out and see things too?

Thinking of this, Finn, as if possessed, said, "Redfield, can Devil Fruit be planted?"

Redfield's expression froze. Finn's words seemed to have some kind of magic, and for a moment, he even truly believed that Finn could grow Devil Fruit.

Is a God truly omnipotent?

"Forget it, we'll talk about it later."

Looking at the piles of things in front of him, Finn felt not only joy but also pressure.

How long would it take to finish all these things?

Saying that, Finn began to work on the basic things first.

Although Redfield had already sorted and placed all the items, some of them were still not needed at the moment.

Workers, I need workers.

Finn roared in his heart, but for now, only he and Redfield could do the work.

He was currently penniless, so of course, he had no money to hire workers. And asking Redfield for money again was something Finn couldn't bring himself to do a second time.

The wasteland needed to be cultivated first. Although there were many fruits in the current courtyard, and they were growing very luxuriantly, they were too monotonous.

This did not align with his original intention of opening a large farmhouse here in the future.

More importantly, the trees that needed to be trimmed were messy and disorganized. If left to grow, improving the environment in the future would be even more difficult.

So, not only did it need to be cultivated, but Finn also planned to plant various different flowers, fruit trees, vegetables, and grains around it.

On his own land, facing the sea with spring blossoms.

Thinking of that feeling, Finn's spirits soared, and he wielded his hoe with even more force.

"..."

Unfortunately, dreams are beautiful, but reality is harsh.

A day passed, and Finn and Redfield could only cultivate a small area.

Seeing Finn hoeing one stroke at a time, Redfield didn't dare to use too much strength, maintaining the same speed as Finn in cultivating the land.

After this day, his internal power became even more condensed, and even his Armament Haki showed a slight improvement.

Looking at the land in front of them, although not large, it also exuded the scent of fertile soil; especially after being irrigated several times by the river, it was even fresher.

"Redfield, do you think it's better to plant fruits or vegetables on this land? Oh, right, let's work hard for a bit and divert some river water over. Then you won't have to carry water anymore once it's cultivated."

Finn's words were a command in Redfield's ears, and he began to work without the slightest hesitation.

Digging irrigation ditches, reclaiming wasteland.

This was probably the most ordinary but happiest thing Redfield had ever done in his life.

That genuine joy made him unable to distinguish whether it was an improvement in strength or peace of mind.

Looking at the highly motivated Redfield, Finn wiped his sweat and continued to work with his hoe.

"Alright, let's continue."

"..."

As dusk fell, the two people and the four beasts sat around the stove, eating meat and drinking wine heartily.

People can turn into bats, so it's not too much for my little pet to drink some wine, right?

Having arrived in this strange world, Finn's adaptability grew stronger.

If transmigration could happen, what else couldn't be accepted?

"..."

Day after day, Finn didn't know how much time had passed.

About a tenth of the large island had been developed by Finn and Redfield.

Of course, this tenth was the simplest part, centered around the small house.

But even so, Finn was already very satisfied.

Ten plots of land were filled with wheat, corn, fruits, and vegetables.

Finn even specifically set aside a fertile plot of land in an inconspicuous spot and planted a Devil Fruit that Redfield had brought.

It just hadn't sprouted yet.

One day, Finn and Redfield were fishing by the sea when a seagull suddenly flew overhead.

The seagull seemed to be clutching something in its talons.

Redfield grabbed the item from the seagull's feet and casually tossed a Beri over as payment.

The newspaper clearly stated:

"Pirate King Roger, who conquered the Grand Line, will be executed in Loguetown."

Redfield frowned, and the fluctuation in his heart naturally did not escape Finn's eyes.

"Your friend?"

Redfield shook his head, looking a little dejected. "An enemy, I suppose."

"Then this fellow must be pretty good."

"Yes, Roger is a very stubborn monster."

The sea breeze brought with it a hint of desolation, and after Redfield secretly made up his mind, he stood up and bowed respectfully to Finn.

"Sir, I may need to request a leave of absence from you."

Their time together had made Redfield realize that although his Sir was as unfathomable as a deity, he was more like an ordinary villager in daily life.

Working, improving life, being happy about small changes.

He was a very simple and good person.

During this period, he had also requested leave several times, and Finn had readily agreed each time, without making things difficult for him in the slightest.

But at this moment, Finn fell into contemplation.

"Sir, is there a problem?" Redfield asked cautiously.

"Sigh, never mind, you can go."

Finn calculated in his heart that he had originally planned to clear that small mountain in a couple of days, but if Redfield left, he would be too tired by himself.

But thinking of this, he couldn't stop the other party; after all, Redfield was also a strong person who could turn into a bat.

During this time, Finn had gained some understanding of the world from the books Redfield had brought.

Marines, pirates, and various rebellious forces wanting to conquer the world.

Not everyone was as grateful and friendly as Redfield.

Sighing deeply, Finn looked at Redfield and said earnestly, "Be careful on your way, and don't get into conflict with the Marine."

Redfield nodded happily, Finn's concern filling his whole body like a surge of power in his heart.

He was so excited that he couldn't express it, but he didn't know what Finn was thinking.

"If such a good bodyguard and laborer were to be captured, I'd have nowhere to cry..."
