Chapter 11 - Now yes secondary Hath

zzzzzzz

"ʸᵘᵗᵒ"

zzzzz… mmm

"Yuto."

Through unintelligible murmurs: "Let me sleep… zzzzzzz"

Until Yuto felt a shake, one that his drowsy mind could no longer ignore, much to his misfortune.

He slowly opened his eyes, not really wanting to, but did so anyway. He turned his head and looked at the troublemaker… his friend Shooki. Or at least, that's what he thought. But since he had tilted his head to look up at his friend's face, and Shooki was pretty tall, yet there was no one there, it must have been an illusion.

Yea, only dream illusions. Well, one more reason to go back to sleep and recover his strength. Good night. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

He stayed like that for a few more minutes until he felt something wet and cold on his hair, waking him up instantly.

"Who poured water on my hair?" he asked, finally becoming aware as he looked around.

He only saw his classmates sending him looks, trying, and failing spectacularly, to be discreet. But there was no obvious culprit near his desk to direct his search for justice.

"Me, Yuto," he heard a voice from under his desk.

That made Yuto pay more attention to his surroundings, or more specifically, to the corners of his desk. There was his friend Shooki, holding a half-full glass of water.

"Uhhh… why?"

"Because you looked like a zombie that was one step away from crawling back into its grave after barely pulling its hand out, and out of sheer laziness, decided to die again," he said with a slight shrug.

"Anyway, I'd better go back to my seat, since the teacher should be arriving any moment now," he added, turning around and heading to his desk while gradually returning to his original size.

Yuto, barely paying attention to Shooki, returned to what he had been focusing on lately: who he should invite to eat besides his friend. Considering their massive appetites, Shooki would appear from under a rock the moment food was mentioned.

Knock knock... creeeak

The sound of heels approaching was heard, followed by the classroom door opening. It probably needed some oil, or maybe a hinge replacement.

Yuto went into autopilot. Though he appeared to be focused on class, he was actually still thinking about his troubles while the purple-haired, starfish-shaped teacher continued with the previous topic… was it game theory? Eh, whatever, where had I left off?

Let's see… who should I invite? he thought, using the corner of his eyes to discreetly scan the classroom.

Let's see… the vandal trio, no way, and they'd probably try to steal from me the moment I looked away… the quiet emo kid, well, maybe he's got good gossip, considering he can stand behind anyone without being noticed. Now that I think about it… is that his quirk??? Maybe the octopus girl, was it Tacorashi?… nope nope, she's laughing to herself. Bad idea.

Yuto crossed off his classmates one by one until, getting too focused on the matter, he pulled out his notebook to make the incredible list of…

People to eat with

Me ✓

Shooki ✓

............… Well, I guess that brings me back to square one. Maybe I should invite one of our parents…

"mghhh"

...or maybe Shooki's half-brother.

"Mghhh!"

Yuto snapped back to reality, facing a teacher with a very unfriendly expression, and feeling his hair shake like a squid, more than even Tacorashi, despite looking completely normal.

He took a deep breath.

"Yuto, look, I understand that you already know the material, but I'd appreciate it if you stopped distracting your classmates," she whispered. "Or at least pretend like you were doing at the beginning."

"I wasn't—"

"Yuto, you're not my first student with a quirk that affects the mind and learning. As long as you have eyes, I can tell from miles away that you weren't paying attention," she said, still in a low voice.

Then the teacher raised her voice, firm and authoritative.

"Yuto, I expect this not to happen again, or I'll have to assign you additional homework, and possibly notify your parents."

With a posture that accepted no argument, she turned around and continued the lesson.

"Well… I guess it could've been worse…"

The clock moved on, and with it the class, which at times felt like it stretched endlessly and at others like it shrank. Unfortunately for Yuto, today it only felt eternal.

At first, he thought it was just the wind and didn't pay much attention. But when he noticed the sound ended right on his desk, he turned toward where the "soft bounce" had come from and found only a paper ball.

Considering his options, he decided to open it. The teacher had long since lost focus on him, and judging by the direction it came from, his friend was sitting there, slightly shranked, and the back tense…

Yeah, Shooki used his quirk unconsciously when scared. It made him a terrible liar in serious situations.

| Hi, Yuto. As I assume you've already guessed, it's me =) very original, right? Anyway, since you know who I am (I must destroy any incriminating evidence, sorry), what are you so focused on that the teacher doesn't exist anymore? It must be serious. Did you get a new pet? You know I like Momo, but putting two lazy creatures together isn't a good idea. Maybe you're planning how to get the new 3D Minesweeper? Or… no way… YOU GOT A GIRLFRIEND!! It can't be, Yuto, we were practically brothers, this betrayal of not telling me sooner… Anyway, my ramblings. If you actually read all of that, I can only tell you two things, Yuto: 1. Hold your head up with dignity for what's coming, and 2. Make sure to tell me what you're planning, I'll probably help… well, except with the extra homework that's about to fall on you =| /

With a shiver, Yuto lifted his head.

A shadow loomed over him, his teacher, holding a sheet filled more with exercises and assignments than with blank space.

"I warned you, Yuto. Normally I'd ask for this by next week, but you know… I see you have a good head on your shoulders, right? Well, I expect it in no more than two days, and with the signature of one of your parents, of course."

Yuto could only nod like a chicken pecking at grain, and shortly after the teacher resumed the lesson, he slumped over.

"I guess things can't get any worse… pobrably"
