Chapter 48 - Unknowns

[Report successfully sent, thank you for sharing the information about the multiple murder case in Jericho.]

Jonathan sighed softly when he saw that the information he shared was not questioned by the higher-ups of The Healing Church. "I won't trust you until I know that the leaders actually care about people."

The truth was that things had changed a lot since he learned that an organization was hunting him. Hiding wasn't his style, but the truth was he had no alternative for now.

That's why he continued with his work, observing the events in the town while receiving information about the Demogorgon entity. A few days had already passed since he had received that call.

The question now was, would he finish his duties here in Jericho quickly? Jonathan wasn't sure.

If one asked whether the problems in this town were serious, the truth was no, for the current Jonathan this was child's play.

He was used to facing truly brutal dark entities. Many of them hadn't forced him to use his supernatural abilities, and unless it was a fight to the death, he wouldn't use that power.

All of this was because he didn't want to reveal his true capabilities, much less expose all of his combat skills.

After finishing reporting the data, Jonathan walked through the school.

"Are you coming to get something to eat?" Father Doug greeted Jonathan from afar as he approached the cafeteria.

Since he was a stranger in this place, getting to know the teachers was essential—it would help him finish his work much faster.

"Yes, these past days I haven't eaten much," Jonathan said, looking at his food tray.

"I didn't have the chance to greet you more closely since you left early. Nice to meet you, I'm Marilyn Thornhill, botany teacher at this academy." Marilyn was a woman who didn't understand what Jonathan's presence really represented.

"Hello."

The first person to extend a hand to him was a very cordial woman. She seemed quite a bit older, but she smiled carefreely, as if she were open to friendships.

Jonathan shook her hand gently and said: "I'm Jonathan Belmont, my profession is being a hunter and a priest in my spare time."

"I'm Cesar, ha, ha, ha, I'm in charge of mathematics." The next person to speak to him was a somewhat stocky man with short hair who wore glasses.

Jonathan greeted the teachers, who were also getting their lunch. "Nice to meet you all."

Truth be told, Jonathan didn't just seem older. Because of his training and special drugs, he appeared to be a bit older than he really was.

Of course, he wasn't haggard, it was just that his appearance suggested an unmeasurable age range.

"What do they serve in this place?"

"The best of the best, don't worry, the academy feeds us very well."

Father Doug snorted and said: "Well, I think the least you should be doing, Cesar, is feeding yourself."

"You don't get it, at my age the greatest pleasures in life aren't having sex but eating," Cesar said as he walked into the back of the cafeteria.

Jonathan followed them and was surprised to see they were serving steak with potato soup; he had never tasted that kind of soup before.

"Give me more meat, please."

"Give him more meat, those muscles aren't just for show." Father Doug joked with the cooks when Jonathan asked for more food.

"Just a little more…"

"You should be in one of my classes, I heard you know a lot about general knowledge," Marilyn said, hoping this professor could interact with her.

Of course, her intentions weren't those, and Jonathan knew it perfectly well.

"The Poe Cup is coming, will you be here until the tournament ends?" Marilyn seemed interested in how long the hunters would remain at the academy.

Father Doug, with his diverse personality, said: "We still haven't found the bastard, but it's only a matter of him showing up so we can track him."

"You still haven't caught it? They said it was a bear, is that true?" Marilyn was surprised by these statements.

Jonathan, keeping to the sidelines of the conversation, wondered how he would deal with this woman.
