Chapter 78 - Guilt

Name: Jonathan Belmont

[Occupation]: Exorcist, Hunter, and Paranormal Agent.

Talent: Night Vision.

[Effect]: You can see more clearly at night and vaguely perceive cursed spirits nearby.

[Effect]: You can bless both material and incorporeal things. Using this talent, you can turn anything into a weapon to combat evil.

Talent: Prayer Reading.

[Effect]: Any kind of prayer, when imbued with spiritual power and faith, can be used as a weapon to purify the souls of humans infected by evil. It can also be used to harm supernatural beings.

[Passive Ability]: Mastery of All Forms of Combat.

[Effect]: The bearer possesses innate and progressive mastery of all types of combat, both physical and spiritual. He can use any weapon, adapt to any fighting style, and execute complex tactics without prior training. His body, mind, and spirit act in perfect sync, improving his offensive and defensive efficiency with every confrontation.

[Supernatural Ability]: Advanced Telekinetic Mastery.

[Effect]: Allows the manipulation of objects, bodies, and physical forces through concentrated spiritual energy. This ability ranges from surgical precision to area-destructive power.

[Limitation]: Each use consumes a large amount of spiritual energy proportional to the target's mass and distance. Under extreme emotional stress, precision decreases, and mental fatigue multiplies. It requires absolute concentration; interruptions can cause loss of control.

[Supernatural Ability]: Advanced Manipulation of Hunter Instinct (Wesen).

[Effect]: The ability to see the true faces of the Wesen when they lose control.

[Limitation]: Reveals to the Wesen that you are a potential Hunter, as your eyes appear hollow—black as the abyss—something only they can perceive.

[Passive Ability]: High-Level Autonomous Regeneration.

[Effect]: A mutated ability of accelerated bodily recovery, inspired by patterns observed in Witch-type subjects. It allows the healing of fractures, mortal wounds, and internal damage within minutes.

[Limitation]: Each regenerative cycle drains both spiritual and physical energy. Consecutive regenerations temporarily reduce effectiveness and can induce severe fatigue, spiritual fever, or loss of consciousness if overused.

[Item]: Consecrated Spiritual Force Sword.

[Effect]: This sword has no permanent physical form. Its blade manifests as a radiant edge of pure light only when the wielder channels spiritual energy through the sacred hilt, forged with celestial silver and ancient runes. The sword responds to the user's soul, shining more brightly according to the purity of their purpose. While in use, it enhances the wielder's abilities.

[Item]: Sacred Gauntlets.

[Effect]: A pair of consecrated gloves with Latin, Enochian inscriptions, and protective seals engraved on purified infernal leather. When worn by someone with high spiritual power, these gauntlets allow the exorcism of demonic entities through direct physical contact.

Each strike channels spiritual energy capable of weakening, sealing, or even expelling malevolent presences. They also enhance any talent related to blessings and prayers, amplifying their range and effectiveness.

[Item]: Blood of God.

[Effect]: An object so sacred it can be used in various ways. The most common is to seal, suppress, and eradicate any trace of evil.

No matter how strong Jonathan was, it wasn't enough to save all those people on the plane. But truth be told, where would he find over 200 criminals to trade their lives for those of the young ones? Watching as the FBI agents interrogated the passengers, Jonathan gathered eight criminals sentenced to life for violent crimes.

"Alex Browning, the one who had the premonition. Clear Rivers, the girl who trusts him. Carter Horton, the troublemaker. Terry Chaney, Carter's girlfriend. Billy Hitchcock, the somewhat clumsy companion. Tod Waggner, Alex's best friend. And Valerie Lewton, the teacher… quite unstable, from what I can see."

Wednesday analyzed the survivors and couldn't help but comment, "To make them understand that death will pursue them, you're going to need more than words."

"I know…" Jonathan replied, frowning.

"We don't have much time," Wednesday reminded him, referring to the Demogorgon case.

"I'm aware of that."

"It's not like you can save everyone either."

"I'm trying!" Jonathan raised his voice, frustrated. "I know I'm not as smart as I wish I were. I can save people in simple cases — and sometimes I do. But when it comes to more complex situations… many die."

"Then maybe you should go back to simpler jobs, don't you think?"

"Yes, all the time." Jonathan put on a pair of black gloves and said, "Learn. Don't interfere in the conversation and just listen to what I'm going to say."

"It'll be a pleasure."
