"They're incredibly fast…" The priest was astonished at how all the vampires had been killed—and how effortlessly those experienced soldiers did it.
A logistics assistant smiled slightly at the priest's amazement. "Most of them are retired soldiers or people who've lost loved ones to dark entities and have undergone rigorous training. They all plan to die in this line of work since they've already lost everything. As for me, I lost my dog—a werewolf ate him in the woods…"
Father Doug looked at the young assistant, never imagining that things like what he was seeing actually existed in this world. Everything visible through the special cameras designed to detect vampires was simply incredible.
"Those vampires seem strong, but I'm sure Milo has more experience. I just hope no one gets hurt," murmured Father Doug, watching as the vampires were dragged into special trucks.
It wasn't a lie—no one cared about Jonathan and his friends' safety as much as they did themselves.
Bobby was probably the one most worried about the others, still trying to understand what was happening.
…
"Get ready to move down—activate night vision!"
"Zz… Activating night vision. Command One ready!"
Jonathan slowly descended the dark basement stairs, but before he even reached the bottom, the creaks of the old wooden structure caught his attention.
Reaching the shadowy basement, he discovered it had been excavated—as if the vampire living there had expanded his territory underground to store his army of vampires.
But surprisingly, there weren't many of them. Otherwise, eliminating them would've been far more work.
This type of vampire had no salvation; the only way to help them was to kill them—and Jonathan was very good at that.
Roooaaarrrr!
At that moment, Jonathan looked deeper into the basement and saw a vampire lunging toward him. "Take care of your own safety."
Crack!
The vampire's right fist was caught by Jonathan. The devastating power of his body released massive amounts of brute force, and because of that, the vampire's arm shattered like a dry twig.
A second later, several vampires dropped from the ceiling, landing on multiple soldiers, who immediately released their weapons to push them off.
"Ahhhhh!"
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Jonathan raised his pistol, fired several times, and shouted, "Switch to lethal rounds—eliminate the vampires without concern for collateral damage!"
But at that instant, while Jonathan was helping the soldiers caught off guard by the vampires, he felt a presence beside him—and before he could react, a powerful blow struck his chest, sending him flying.
"Regent!"
A soldier, hindered by the distance, drew his silver knife, glared at the vampire, and immediately engaged him in close combat.
"What an arrogant human…" Milo dodged the slow soldier's attack and tore part of the skin from his throat.
Jonathan then saw Milo kill two of the five soldiers and, from the ground, fired multiple shots at the vampire.
"We've got two casualties! I repeat—two casualties! Switch to offensive rounds! Eliminate the remaining vampires!"
Jonathan stood up, spat blood, and watched the vampires emerging from the darkness. He narrowed his eyes slightly and said, "You're stronger than you look…"
"And you seem crueler than you appear. You want to kill these vampires who could be saved? That's quite cruel of you, don't you think?" Milo licked the blood off his hand and approached Jonathan with a cold stare.
"You're wrong about one thing."
Milo raised an eyebrow in surprise. "And what would that be?"
"We could just blow this house into a thousand pieces and kill you that way—but this is our training…" Jonathan stood up, flexed his arms, and drew a silver dagger.
No longer caring about the others, Jonathan looked at the vampire before him and said, "I want to know how it feels when a child in your eyes kills you!"
"I'll rip your eyes out!" shouted Milo, lunging straight at Jonathan.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Jonathan fired several shots, which Milo dodged. Seeing this, Jonathan changed his attack method—dodging the vampire's claws and striking his chest with all his strength.
Boom!
Milo was shocked as Jonathan sent him flying backward with a single punch and muttered, "You're not human…"
"Who said we play by the same rules?" Jonathan asked, raising his arm and looking at the vampire with a mocking smile.
"Ahhhhhh!"
"You'll die in the worst way imaginable…" murmured Jonathan as a sword wrapped in black mist slashed forward.
Crack!
Cutting through the air, Milo felt his body burning and looked in disbelief at Jonathan's hand. "You're an immortal dog… how many years old are you, really?"
Bang! Bang! Bang!
At that moment, a dozen elite soldiers rushed in and immediately opened fire.
