Chapter 155 - Something Broken

Jonathan ran back and forth looking for old Harry. He visited his house, his wife's grave, and places of ill repute, but he could not find him.

He used his influence and still could not find him, so after many hours of searching he returned home to take a quick shower, grab a few things, and search throughout the city while traveling in the car his family had sent him.

He did not want to involve anyone else because this was his own problem. He wanted to do something to save old Harry from heading into the darkness from which, once dead, he would not be able to escape. He did not deserve that when his wife was waiting for him in heaven.

While Jonathan consumed himself with his thoughts, the hours continued to pass, and upon realizing that nothing was happening anywhere, he went to a café to eat something. He had not slept since yesterday, so he needed to at least feed himself.

He never thought he would ever get involved in another person's life this way. He never believed he would care in the first place about the life of an old man who had not achieved much in this life, but over time he learned to appreciate all people equally and to feel incredibly connected to each one of them.

He did not know if this was his punishment, but he at least wanted not to feel powerless while living a life in which he was trying to cleanse the sins of his past life in order to earn a place in heaven.

When Jonathan finished eating, he opened the envelope that old Harry had left him, and upon seeing all those bills he sighed. He focused directly on the letter that was beside them and opened it slowly.

"[To whoever is reading this letter, who should be Priest Jonathan if I find him in the church, I am deeply grateful for your help throughout all this time.

At this stage of my life, I feel the need to express my profound gratitude for the blessings I have received. Life has given me the most precious gift: a loyal and loving companion who has shared every step of the journey with me. My wife has been my rock, and every day by her side has been a gift.

I cannot overlook the appreciation I feel for having lived life in my own way. Sometimes stubborn, other times reflective, but always faithful to my convictions. I have no regrets, and every choice, no matter how difficult, has contributed to the story of my life.

I want to mention Priest Jonathan, that young man with a generous heart who has touched our lives in invaluable ways. Although his years as a priest are few and many may think he lacks tact and experience, his dedication to helping those in need is inspiring. His selfless altruism is a beacon of hope in a world that sometimes seems dark.

At this moment, I bid farewell with gratitude in my heart and the certainty that I have lived a full life. I appreciate every experience, every laugh, every tear, and I am thankful for the opportunity to share these moments with those I love.

With appreciation, Harry Browns…]"

Jonathan did not know if this was his punishment, but he knew deep down that at some point there would be a way out for him. But now what he needed was to involve himself in the deepest depths of evil; he would eliminate those who truly deserved it and let his new life decide whether they were guilty or not.

"I'm tired of being indifferent…" Jonathan murmured as he caressed a high-caliber bullet.

…

At nine at night, Jonathan was driving back home after being extremely exhausted.

After driving back and forth, Jonathan had separated himself from his identity as an Exorcist Priest in order to find old Harry, who was not appearing anywhere.

As an Exorcist Priest, he did not need to give any explanation for his absence, so he investigated everywhere, and after losing hope of finding Harry, he just wanted to relax.

"Where are you, old Harry? If you're trying to do justice before you die, I know it wouldn't be too much trouble for you, but I hope it's not a suicide mission."

Jonathan thought about what old Harry would probably do with the little information he had about it, so knowing how powerful firearms could be, it would be easy for someone like Harry to do such things.

Although pistols are strictly controlled compared to rifles, it should not be difficult for a retired soldier like old Harry to obtain a weapons permit.

Jonathan thought this while sitting in the driver's seat of his black Porsche 911 Carrera. He sighed deeply, knowing all the things that could happen and having no control over anything.

By all means, he wanted to confirm whether old Harry was okay, but he could not find him and did not want to drive himself crazy.

Everyone in life comes to make a crucial decision that will change their lives, so in a way Jonathan respected it, and if the circumstances did not want him to find him, then he would not torture himself like this any longer.

At this hour of the night, a black Porsche 911 Carrera was driving through the streets at a moderate speed.

At a slow pace, the residents could better understand the security in the rural areas of this city, which, despite being modern, was very dangerous at late hours of the night where Jonathan was.

Groups of young people could be seen gathered on every street, their eyes cold as they stared at the people passing by. At first glance, these were not normal people walking down the street.

In addition to these people, Jonathan also saw some men trading something. Jonathan's sharp eyes saw that there was a white powder in the small bag, which was obviously drugs.

To be honest, this was a scene he would never have seen in his previous life. But here, due to his drastic change in life, it was something he could see very frequently.

No one seemed to care, so after passing through those streets, Jonathan planned to return home.

"Public safety in the community is getting worse and worse…" Jonathan frowned at this scene, stepped on the accelerator, and left the area.

At a speed far above the limits, in a short time, Jonathan passed one last time through a street where he had encountered those boys that old Harry had criticized.

It was late at night, and the place where he had spoken with old Harry was surrounded by yellow tape. There were several police cars and ambulances. The siren lights were on, and many people could be seen gathered watching what was happening.

"What is happening in this place?" Jonathan suddenly thought inexplicably of old Harry and drove directly in front of the police cars.

In front of where Jonathan parked there were several officers, so Jonathan got out and asked one of them, "Officer, what happened?"

Upon hearing that question, one of the police officers, Officer Morelli, looked at the luxury car parked in front of them, and one of those there recognized Jonathan.

"Priest Jonathan, why are you here?"

Jonathan looked toward the house and said, "I was looking for an old friend. He lived nearby, so I want to know what happened here."

Upon hearing this, Officer Morelli looked again at his colleagues who were talking behind him and whispered, "Priest Jonathan, be careful when passing through here in the future. No, it's better not to come back to this place at all. I do not recommend it in the slightest—God will not help you here."
