Chapter 174 - Finding the Stronghold, Part 1

"What did you dream about?" Jonathan asked as he approached Elizabeth again while she was eating her cake.

"I dreamed! In my dream there was a rather attractive man who was asking things about you!" Picking up the paper, Elizabeth looked at the portrait of the figure at the door and still felt the fear lingering in her heart.

After she was cursed, she never saw that figure again, and never with such clarity. Only its silhouette appeared in her dreams countless times, making her vividly remember what she feared the most.

This was her nightmare!

Jonathan nodded and comforted her. "Everything will be fine soon, don't worry."

He needed to gather those people who were participating in this kind of project of that figure.

Most creatures born from cursed objects were extremely cunning and possessed many unique or special methods. But the creatures of the darkness of the Prim were different.

Jonathan's goal this time was not only to destroy this demonic creature. More importantly, he also wanted to protect the students who participated in the game or ritual and discover where the hell the portal to the inverted world was, in order to cross it and prevent darkness from reigning over the realities.

Any student killed by the demonic creature would be a fatal blow to the church.

Of course, the most important thing was…

These were all lives that could be saved!

Jonathan was not a hero—this was his job, and he would do everything possible to be the best at it. He also knew very well that thousands of people were killed by dark entities every day.

However, when he encountered something like this, he would definitely not ignore it.

No dark entity could attempt to kill someone in front of him.

Beep-beep!

Elizabeth's phone suddenly rang. She picked it up and listened to the voice on the call for a few moments. Then her face lit up with surprise as she exclaimed, "The three of them agreed to come!"

Jonathan nodded and let out a sigh of relief.

If he could gather all five of them, Jonathan was confident that he could at least protect them from being killed by the creature incarnated in their dreams.

"I'll go first with the one who will help us, then I'll let him explain everything to them," Elizabeth said as she contacted her best friend.

If Jonathan had not been present, it was very likely that Elizabeth would have already died by this point.

These students were all young. After a week of torture, they were on the verge of emotional collapse.

Jonathan's appearance was like a lifeline for all of them—one they wanted to cling to at all costs.

They hurriedly seized this opportunity, wanting to try something before anything happened to them.

Elizabeth felt her mood relax a little; this was the first time she had felt this way since the game began.

Looking at Jonathan's serious face, Elizabeth asked respectfully, "Mr. Jonathan, what should we do after we gather?"

Jonathan smiled at the question and said, "Don't bother being polite, just call me by my name… On the other hand, after we get there, you don't have to do anything. Leave everything to me."

Elizabeth nodded seriously in response.

She could still feel the warmth flowing through her body, passing through many parts of her and giving her a very warm sensation. It was this warmth that made her feel comfortable and free from her nightmares.

Her heart was no longer filled with fear, and she became much calmer.

That was what made her trust Jonathan even more.

With him nearby, she had a chance to survive.

They finished their coffee and immediately headed to the house of one of Elizabeth's friends.

More precisely, it was where the person who had suggested the game was currently staying.

It was an apartment in a large hotel, so it was known that many of them had a solid financial background.

…

Jonathan walked toward the door where the students had gathered and knocked.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

When the door opened, Jonathan smiled and said, "Good morning."

Just as he was about to continue, a weak and powerless voice said, "Wrong door."

"Haha, I don't think so!" Jonathan gently extended his hand and prevented the door from being slammed shut.

The person behind the door paused for a second and slightly opened it again.

"My name is Jonathan." After pausing, with a serious expression, he asked, "May I come in for a moment, please?"

After the person behind the door remained silent, Jonathan stood straight in a reserved posture and waited calmly.

The other party stuck out a metal rod with a mirror attached and pointed it at Jonathan's face.

"It was a good idea to come alone for now. They're very cautious," Jonathan thought to himself.

"How can I help you, officer?" the young man asked with a carefree expression. It seemed as if he didn't care about anything, but Jonathan could see the heavy dark circles under his eyes.

Smiling slightly, Jonathan shook his head and said, "I'm not the police… No, I just need a moment of your time."

"It's about Elizabeth." After Jonathan mentioned the girl named Elizabeth, the young man behind the door shook his head and said coldly, "I don't know anyone by that name."

"It would be much easier for all parties involved if I could come in for a moment," Jonathan said as he stared at the young man.

"There's no one by that name. Get the hell out," the young man shouted before closing the door.

Jonathan showed a cold expression, stepped slightly backward, and two agents of the Association of Light approached the door with a tactical breaching ram in their hands.

An agent holding the ram looked at Jonathan for approval.

"I don't like this part," Jonathan thought before nodding.

Crash!

With a single blow, the door was forced open, and the agent quickly entered to restrain the young students.

"What the hell?!"

Loud music from inside the room could be heard once the door was opened.

"Shall we go in, sir?" Rafael asked lightly.

"Go ahead." Jonathan slowly entered through the door.

"What are you doing here?"

"Calm down, calm down, calm down."

"Get the hell out!" a rather agitated young man shouted.

"Calm down, calm down, calm down." An agent entered and tried to calm the agitated youths.

Everyone froze as they watched the men in suits enter the room.

"Relax, boys and girls," an agent said in a soothing voice.

Elizabeth froze as she looked at the man in the suit; she vaguely remembered seeing him next to Jonathan at the café.

"Wait outside," Jonathan said to the remaining agents.

"Yes, sir."

Slowly closing the door, Jonathan walked into the living room where everyone was gathered.

"Sit down," an agent said with a harsher expression. The youths slowly sat down, stunned.

"Thank you."

Jonathan walked around and silently observed all the young people. He approached the recorder that was still on and pressed the power button to turn it off.

"Let's get some fresh air," Jonathan said as he walked to the window and opened it.

"Who are your friends, Elizabeth?" an agitated young man asked.

"There's no need to get worked up, young man. We'll leave once we've resolved what we came to do," Rafael said as he stood in a corner of the room.

"Get the hell out right now." Seeing that no one paid him any attention, the young man insisted again. "I can be dangerous if I want to be dangerous. Get the hell out of my house right now."

"Sit down, Donald, before you get yourself into more trouble," Jonathan said as he pointed at the young man named Donald Kimball.

"How do you know my name?" Donald asked in shock.

Jonathan murmured in a slow voice, "I know all of your names. Apart from that little piece of trash you call a friend. I know where you went to school."

"I know who your parents are, Elena Parker," Jonathan said as he pointed at Elizabeth's best friend.

"And I also know that all of you would kill your best friends just to get rid of the maze," Jonathan said. "Now, sit down."

When Jonathan said that, he extended his open palm toward Donald's head with a cold expression.

Everyone was stunned upon hearing the words of the man named Jonathan.

"Is he the person who's going to help us with our problem?" The moment the men entered, Elizabeth's best friend whispered in her ear.

Just as everything was about to calm down, another student named Jared stood up from the couch.

Jared walked toward Jonathan while cursing, "A bunch of idiots. I'm not going to die with you guys. If you want to die, go ahead. Don't involve me in your stupidity. You all heard the rules of the smiling doll…"

"Wait," Jonathan, who had been silent, suddenly said.

"What is it?" the young man asked, confused.

Smack!

A resounding slap landed on his face.

A bright red palm print appeared on Jared's face.

"What are you doing?" Jared asked, stunned.

"If you want to live, stay here."

Jonathan didn't have much time to waste on him. The fastest way was to knock some sense into him.

Jared quickly shut up. After all, no one wanted to be hit.

He walked to the corner of the room and crouched down, watching Jonathan with his peripheral vision.

Although the other two were not as agitated, they were also wary of Jonathan.

Elizabeth's friend named Elena, and the other young man, who was considered handsome and tall. He had his arms crossed and was leaning against the wall without saying anything.

Jonathan looked around and nodded slightly.

He was certain that these people were the targets of the dark entity.

After all, when they entered the room, Jonathan felt an obvious sense of threat coming from this place.
