Chapter 21 - Shopping Spree

The first thing he saw was an item with a trillion-coin price tag.

Primordial Chaos Lotus Seed (3,000,000,000,000 UGC)

A seed from the Chaos Lotus at creation's dawn. Grants comprehension of the Primordial Chaos Laws, immunity to all tribulations, and a chance to form and rule a new main realm.

"Holy shit…" Wei Chen muttered after seeing the price. It looked like something a sleep-deprived game developer would put in after adding a few too many zeros during a 48-hour crunch.

He immediately set the search filter to show items priced at two million or below.

The list refreshed, revealing new options:

Underworld Dragon's Soul Core (2,500,000 UGC)

Essence of an ancient dragon. Grants Underworld Dragon Immortal Physique, increasing qi capacity and affinity with all draconic arts.

Tribulation Warding Formation Array (1,800,000 UGC)

A set of formation flags that create a protective array, weakening heavenly tribulations by 30% during Great Ascension breakthroughs. Can be deployed once and includes diagrams for Void Refining setup.

When Wei Chen saw these two items, he naturally thought about his own cultivation method.

He immediately searched for it.

The Samsara Sovereign's Scripture (1,500,000,000 UGC)

A supreme cultivation method created by the Lord of Death of the Primordial Underworld. Greatly increases cultivation speed, allows the absorption and use of underworld qi, and greatly enhances innate comprehension talent. Grants authority over ghosts, spirits, and vengeful abominations with lower cultivation than the practitioner.

"Holy cow… that Lord of Death guy really spared no expense for my wish. I thought, at most, it would be a hundred million." Wei Chen was genuinely surprised. He never thought that guy would exceed his expectations to such an extent.

He then searched for the two combat techniques he had received as part of his wishes, only to find that they were also priced in the billions.

"Man… if this guy were a CEO in my previous world, he'd snatch the Best Employer award right out of Cisco's hands." Wei Chen muttered, truly impressed by the Lord of Death's generosity.

He then began searching for anything useful priced under two million.

The list was long and seemed endless, making him feel a little dizzy. Fortunately, there were pictures of the items along with categories to help him sort through them more easily.

After browsing for half an hour, he finally found two very interesting items.

Myriad Realms Epiphany Pagoda (1,300,000 UGC)

A supreme treasure for training. Practitioners who cultivate inside will gain heightened epiphanies and improved comprehension. Time inside flows differently: one year within equals just one day outside, and the time dilation can be adjusted. The pagoda is able to create countless environments and even recall people the user has met before as sparring partners, with their strength adjustable at will.

Deathless Legion Summoning Decree (1,133,000 UGC) — 95% discount from 22,620,000

A technique that allows the practitioner to bind the souls of fallen entities to serve them. The entities must either lack the will to resist, or be defeated in battle by the practitioner before the technique can bind their souls into servitude.

This technique makes use of the laws of the underworld and aligns with the Dao of Samsara, meaning the practitioner does not need to fear heavenly tribulation for practicing it.

After seeing these two items, Wei Chen felt excited. The first one was basically a training chamber with time dilation, just like in that anime where the protagonist got his home world go boom and was raised by a kind earthling.

As for the second one, he was even more thrilled, he had always wanted to have his own personal death army, just like that dagger-wielding guy from the Korean manhwa!

Wei Chen could already imagine himself standing tall on a cliff, shouting "Arise!" as he oversaw his grand army.

With his excitement at an all-time high, he immediately bought them!

His currency quickly dropped to 2,701, but Wei Chen didn't feel any regret. One of the items was a 95% discount, so he felt like he had just scored a great deal, even if it nearly wiped out all of his fortune.

The items materialized inside the broadcasting orb. The first appeared as an obsidian pagoda, its design and architecture practically screaming edgelord, dark and overflowing with an ominous, edgy aura.

The second was a jade slip containing the information for the technique that would grant him a cool deathless army, just like that Korean edgelord.

Full of excitement, Wei Chen immediately began to peruse the technique.

"To practice this technique, the practitioner must have reached at least the Nascent Soul Realm for the space to form within one's soul, and must have a basic understanding of space and soul manipulation."

"F*ck."

The very first paragraph of the technique instantly shattered Wei Chen's excitement. He collapsed onto the pavilion seat like a deflated balloon. He felt like crying, but no tears would come.

After a moment of mourning for his lost wealth, Wei Chen got up and casually perused the shopping list. All the items priced below 2,000 were of no interest to him. Some of them were things he could easily find in this place, such as simple herbs or ore.

Even though there were some special and rare ores mixed in, he was not an alchemist or an artificer, so he did not know why he should buy them.

Until his eyes stumbled on an impossible tag that should not be seen in this price range.

"Indestructible."

Faster than he could think, almost by instinct, Wei Chen immediately pressed buy. Anything with an "Indestructible" tag on it should not be too lousy. Maybe the Lord of Death had put the wrong price on it and forgotten to add a lot of zeros.

No matter the reason, he had to buy it!

The item materializes within the broadcasting orb, he quickly sends his spiritual sense to check it out.

Indomitable Plunger

An indestructible plunger made specifically for use on the Lord of Death's toilet, since his waste is too powerful for a normal plunger to withstand. Thus, the Lord of Death commanded the best artificer in the underworld to make it!

Wei Chen: ….

— Meanwhile - Underworld —

The Lord of Death scratched his head in confusion after just walking out of the toilet. He turned toward his secretary, Youqi, a beautiful ghost with long, dark, silky hair, part of her bangs hiding her right eye. She was arranging the documents and filtering through the Lord of Death's files.

"Youqi, have you seen my plunger?" the Lord of Death asked while still looking around in front of the toilet, wondering if he had forgotten it somewhere.

"Shouldn't it be in your toilet, my lord?" the secretary asked, also confused.

"No… it's not in there. But seriously, who the hell is on latrine duty!? Can't they just leave it where it should be!?" the Lord of Death grumbled.

"I'll check it for you, my lord," the secretary said.

"Ah! Thanks." The Lord of Death nodded.

Wei Chen finally regained his wits. He decided to let it go, stored all the items into the broadcasting orb, and continued with his work.

He had an appointment with the vice sect leader of the Heavenly Sword Sect.

Wei Chen used his movement technique to speed toward the Heavenly Sword Sect. When he arrived, he handed the sect gate guard an introduction card that Mo Xingyao had prepared for him, allowing him to enter the sect grounds.

The guard carefully checked the card and nodded.

"Everything seems to be in order. You may go in, but don't cause any trouble, alright? And don't wander into forbidden grounds!" the gate guard sternly warned.

"Don't worry, brother. I'm here for work, not to cause trouble," Wei Chen replied.

"Good! You may go in." The guard nodded, but before Wei Chen could step inside, the guard suddenly called out.

"Wait!" he shouted, alarming the other guards at the gate.

Wei Chen turned back, puzzled.

"Are you that Wei Chen? That vagabond? The guy who exposed the truth about the secret realm?" the guard asked suspiciously.

Wei Chen hesitated, wondering whether to lie or not. But after thinking about it, he realized that even if he lied, his face had already appeared in the livestream. When the time came, the lie would be exposed anyway.

"Yes, that's me. Is there a problem?" Wei Chen asked.

"Oh, no problem at all! I just thought your face looked familiar. Welcome to the Heavenly Sword Sect, Vagabond Chen," the guard said with a friendly smile.

Wei Chen nodded and excused himself before rushing upward through the long stairs. The sect was quite large, and he needed some time to find that vice sect leader guy and talk with him about which questions he could ask and which questions he should not.

He had already asked Mo Xingyao to send the question list to this guy before he arrived. By now, that vice sect leader should have already read it.
