Chapter 1 - A Twisted Isekai.

What changed?

Was it when the buildings suddenly disappeared and were replaced by trees? When those that they had fought with were nowhere in sight? Or was it when bullets and explosives were replaced by arrows, balls of fire and piercing rocks?

Or could it be when their body had changed into that of a beast?

It was strange. That bullet definitely pierced their head, but why were they alive? The equipment they died with stayed with them. The vest, mags, even the helmet that had a hole in it, everything was the same.

So why were they still fighting?

It was like nothing had changed at all. Nothing. They were still under fire from an unknown enemy. Though, unlike before, they could sense the enemy around them.

Their instincts forced them to throw themselves onto the ground to dodge another ball of fire. After finding their footing, they knelt down and fired a few rounds in the direction it came from. The scent of...something filled the air, somehow letting them know the kill was confirmed.

Falling to their knee to duck under a spear of ice allowed them to fire a few more rounds into the darkness of the forest. The sound of a body hitting the ground was far off, making them more confused. They knew the distance was much further than they had originally been able to fire accurately.

This new body, with sleeves of black on their arms and legs leading to a orange body melting to a creamy white at their chest. Is it the body of a wolf person? They had read about this kind of thing before on their off time, but ho-?

Their thoughts were cut off when reality pierced their left shoulder with an ice spear from the darkness. A yelp left their wolf-like maw, sounding quite feminine.

"Fucking bastards." She growled as she gripped the spear and yanked it out of her. All she could do was grit her teeth and keep running.

A tremor at her feet forced her to dive roll to the left, narrowly dodging a few spikes that burst from the ground at where her stomach just was.

The rustling of leaves brought her barrel up to the tree line a few trees away. A burst fire brought a shadow down to collapse on the dirt below. It was a shame another ball of fire was hurled at her, forcing her to run away from the explosion.

Her instincts were telling her that these unknown enemies were slowly surrounding her. With only about 3 mags left on her chest, she had no choice but to run.

"Break break break, is there anyone there?" She screamed into her radio once more as she ran towards a brighter area of the forest.

Once again, a sense of danger forced her to throw herself down onto the ground. The sound of something flying at high speed went past and collided with a tree a few feet from her. She watched in horror as it toppled down where she lay.

After narrowly rolling away, she got up on her knee just as the tree hit the ground and kicked up a cloud of dust. Even without seeing, her senses told her where the enemies were.

A few rounds were sent directly infront of her, 2 more a little left, and 5 to the right. Each bullet seemed to find their mark given the screams heard past the cloud. Something about them were off. But that would have to come later.

Another tremor made her jump backwards out of the cloud. However, she was not fast enough to dodge the stone spike that pierced her left side. She tried landing on her feet, but lost her footing and was sent tumbling. Luckily she found herself outside of the forest now with the rushing of waves behind her.

Once more, she grit her teeth and forced herself up onto her feet.

BOOM!

She narrowly brought her rifle up to block a fireball aimed at her chest. The force was enough to send her flying back to the edge of the waves on the beach. After a few gasping breaths, she picked herself up and drew her pistol and dagger.

After checking the chamber, she stood ready and gazed at the numerous foes climbing out of the forest.

The shadowy figures could barely be made out as they stood in the shadows of the trees. Yet she could still see claws and teeth that beared down at her like she was simply prey.

"God damn. Whoever sent me here has a twisted sense of humor." She spit some blood to the side as she aimed at the biggest shadow that lead the charge at her.

"Bring it you bastards!"
