"As expected, murder and arson bring golden belts… well, at least my years of effort have paid off."
Hyūga Kumokawa glanced at the constantly flickering, increasing number of "Truth Points."
This was the very first time he had ever seen it reach five digits.
As the name implied, the role of "Truth Points" was to bring into reality whatever he imagined into existence.
However, there was a restriction: he could not use it directly on himself to increase his strength.
For example, he couldn't just use the points to instantly give himself Ōtsutsuki bloodline.
But he could manifest a method to awaken the Ōtsutsuki bloodline.
The way to acquire "Truth Points" was by getting more and more people to believe his lies, stirring powerful emotional fluctuations in them.
The standard for how many points he received depended on three things:
1. The trickery methods he used in the process — which were listed under the [Achievements] tab.
[Crocodile Tears], [Sweet Talker], [Slip Through] — these were the common tricks he had used before.
[Entrapment], [Honeyed Blade], [Lie Becomes Truth] — these were specifically the methods he used against Orochimaru.
Naturally, the latter three were on a far higher level, thus yielding many more points.
2. The quantity and quality of targets.
Fooling a genin was not the same as deceiving someone like Orochimaru — the points gained were vastly different.
3. The degree of faith in the lie, and the intensity of the emotions produced.
When Kumokawa first crossed into this world and obtained the system, the newbie gift pack gave him only a measly 100 Truth Points.
According to his tests:
1 point could manifest a refined kunai.
1 point could create a fingernail-sized piece of chakra-conductive metal.
1 point could conjure a standard explosive tag — though with pathetic power.
100 points were not much at all.
Not enough to manifest strong ninjutsu.
Bloodline limits were out of the question.
It was, in truth, rather useless.
So, after grasping his dire circumstances, Hyūga Kumokawa set his sights on Orochimaru.
He knew his greatest asset was not the 100 points — but the knowledge of this world inside his head.
At this point in time, Orochimaru had already lived through two Shinobi World Wars.
His thirst for "truth" and his fear of "death" had already twisted into an obsession with immortality.
It was just like later on, when Orochimaru's body had already collapsed and urgently required a new vessel, yet he still clung to waiting for Sasuke to return — obsessed with obtaining that body.
And Kabuto Yakushi, back then, only needed one sentence to make Orochimaru feel fear and compromise:
"If you don't reincarnate immediately, you'll lose everything. Is that acceptable?!"
For Orochimaru, losing everything was an agony he could never bear — even worse than his obsession with the Sharingan.
What he truly sought was never simply "immortality" or the "Sharingan."
What he wanted was everything — to learn every ninjutsu in the world, to grasp every truth in existence.
And that could only be achieved by living on forever.
That required an even stronger bloodline.
So Kumokawa forged an ancient scroll — two parts fake, eight parts truth — with fabricated secrets of the Ōtsutsuki.
He even added the effect of a sealing technique.
Of course, in reality, the back half of the scroll contained nothing at all.
Orochimaru could never break the "seal," because Kumokawa hadn't even thought of what to write for the back yet.
Or rather, he had thought of it — but wasn't going to let Orochimaru see it so soon.
From beginning to end, Orochimaru only ever saw what Kumokawa wanted him to see.
Even the fact that Orochimaru could take away the scroll and the body was deliberate.
That way, Kumokawa could continue guiding him with "future revelations."
The smarter and prouder a person was, the more convinced they became of their own judgment.
All of this only cost him 30 points.
Most of that went into faking the sealing jutsu.
Aged scroll paper cost only 1 point.
The so-called "ancient secrets" were simply made up.
The remaining 70 points he used to manifest a husk — a body with breathtaking appearance but hollow within.
This was the so-called "Ōtsutsuki body" Orochimaru obtained.
These two items — especially the secrets in the scroll — delivered a devastating shock to Orochimaru's worldview, instantly multiplying Kumokawa's Truth Points many times over.
Later, all the points Kumokawa earned were poured into filling out that empty husk.
Over the years, he spent more than ten thousand points, transforming it into a body with genuine Ōtsutsuki organs.
However, this "Ōtsutsuki" body belonged to the Moon's Ōtsutsuki, not the alien Ōtsutsuki clan.
The real Ōtsutsuki clan's physique should at least be on par with the Sage of Six Paths himself.
That was a completely different species compared to the humans of the Shinobi World.
"One hundred thousand points clearly aren't enough to manifest a true Ōtsutsuki body."
Staring at the 5% Ōtsutsuki bloodline listed on his panel, Kumokawa's eyes flickered:
"When I manifested this, the bloodline I benchmarked against was Ōtsutsuki Toneri."
Ōtsutsuki Toneri possessed the purest of Ōtsutsuki bloodlines.
Even Ōtsutsuki Urashiki referred to him as "kinsman," instead of the "inferior creatures" he called Sasuke and Naruto.
Aside from Kaguya, Toneri might very well be the purest Ōtsutsuki descendant in existence.
"To match that bloodline is already my absolute limit.
And since the husk body was modeled after myself, its organs could merge perfectly with mine, bringing an earth-shaking transformation to my body."
Still… he wasn't certain what exact level his body had now reached.
Thinking this, Hyūga Kumokawa got up from bed and stepped into another room…
---
Time slipped by.
The rain gradually stopped.
Dawn broke, splitting apart the darkness of night.
Morning light fell upon the grass, reflecting dewdrops in a halo.
Konoha at daybreak was still quiet.
Especially within the Hyūga clan, where hierarchy and rules were strictly upheld.
But then, a loud, bizarre laugh shattered the clan's peaceful morning.
"OHHH! Now is the perfect time for the youth of springtime to BLOOM! AHAHAHA!"
The laughter arrived before the man himself.
The Hyūga guards on duty twitched at the corner of their mouths — and then saw the green blur in the distance.
Bowl-cut hair.
Thick black eyebrows.
A red scarf around his neck.
Forehead protector tied at his waist.
Bandages wrapped around his fists.
Wearing that strange, green spandex suit, he dashed upside-down on his hands, kicking up a storm of dust.
There was only one man in all of Konoha who could appear like this.
Konoha's Chūnin — Might Guy.
