Chapter 11 - Chapter 11 Know Your Place

Snow laid the pen beside the document, and she leaned back in the chair, reaching for her phone on the desk.

She brushed her hair away from her face, as she logged into her social media…

"SHOCKING NEWS!!! Adrian Quinn happened to be married to the psycho in red!" The netizens couldn't believe their eyes.

She clicked on the comments.

"I heard Adrian Quinn had already confirmed the marriage."

"That is crazy… but he claimed he didn't know her, or could it be that he was trying to deny her?"

"Don't talk about him like that, why would he deny his own wife? Maybe there was a misunderstanding."

"Whatever it may be… I wonder why he stooped so low. His wife basically looks like a stray cat with panda eyes."

"Lol"

Snow chuckled. She had cracked his prestigious reputation.

A knock came from the other side of the door, pulling her attention from her phone.

"Yes."

The door creaked open, and a maid stood by the entrance. She gave a bow, her expression tugging into a sneer. "Madam Quinn, Mr. Quinn ordered me to take back the document."

Snow's gaze fixated on the maid, who was now walking towards her. Without waiting for Snow's reply, the maid picks up the document.

"Did I say you could take it?" Her cold voice brought chills down the maid's spine.

She stared at Snow, she looked at her from head to toe. The maid couldn't make sense of the authority in her voice.

"I don't need your permission, I answer to the Quinns… not a clingy snake." The maid snickered.

Snow scoffed. "It seems like I need to clean up the house." She muttered under her breath.

She rose to her feet, the chair scraped against the floor causing a screeching noise.

A smile formed on Snow's lips, before pulsing to a pitiful pout. "Really? A clingy snake? Is that what my husband said to you?" She blinked innocently at her.

The maid's eyes widened. "I… I never said that. I'm only saying…"

"Oh," Snow covered her mouth. "Could it be you are trying to bully me?" She stepped closer to the maid, the pitiful mask on her face slipping away, replaced by a cold and intimidating look.

She leaned closer to the maid's side. "Did you forget I'm Mrs. Quinn?"

The maid's knees wobbled from the sharpness of her voice, it was so domineering that she almost fell on her knees.

"I didn't say anything wrong… You are nothing but a vixen who wriggled her way into the Quinns' family, and…"

A resounding slap echoed through the room, followed by a gasp of shock.

"Ouch." Snow pursed her lips as if surprised by her own actions, and a sly smile formed on her lips. "Does it hurt?" She tilted her head innocently.

The maid held her cheeks, her eyes burning with humiliation.

Snow walked closer, every step she took made the maid take a step back.

She casually played with her nails. "You should know your place… maid, I'm your fucking madam," she gently pushed back the strand from the maid's face.

Blood drained from the maid's face, as her body pressed against the wall. "I…"

"Shhhhh," Snow pressed her middle finger on the maid's lips. Her eyes danced with mischievous glints. She ran the back of her fingers at the maid's face… "Your skin would make a beautiful doll," she muttered, her voice lowered dangerously, cutting through the last defense of the maid's.

Her knees trembled violently. "Mrs. Quinn, I was wrong…"

"Shhhh," Snow shushed her. "Now be a good girl…" She smiled, revealing her beautiful set of arranged teeth.

Cold beads of sweat formed on the maid's skin, her lips quivered as fear gripped her heart. The woman before her wasn't normal… she was nothing but a psychopath… She regretted accepting to be the spy for Miss Gu.

The silence between them grew incredibly thick, that it was suffocating to breathe.

The silence was broken by the creaking of the door. Snow snapped her head with irritation dancing in her eyes.

She needed to teach the maid a good lesson, and she wasn't done yet… who could have interrupted their moment?

A tall figure stepped inside the room carrying an enigmatic aura, his chocolate brown eyes narrowed at the maid and Snow.

The maid, taking the chance, ran to greet Adrian, she bowed deeply offering the document.

Adrian glanced at Snow who was wearing an innocent smile, before returning to the maid who was visibly shakily like she had encountered a ghost.

Something felt amiss, however Adrian could not tell what it was, his eyes lingered a moment too long on Snow as if he wanted to peel off every layer of her.

He collected the document. His eyes hardened as he glared at the maid. "Why are you still here? Didn't you hear my order?"

The maid remained bowing. "That… that is because your wife refused to let me take the document." Sweat trickled down her temple.

Adrian glanced at Snow. "Why did you refuse to hand over the document to her?"

"Because it was confidential," Snow answered in a matter-of-fact tone, but her gaze had softened like she couldn't harm a fly.

"She is a trusted maid of mine," Adrian replied.

"Really?" Snow sniffled. "She called me a vixen, and a clinging snake, she told me I wasn't welcome here and that I wriggled my way into your home…" She clenched her chest, and tears streamed down her cheeks. "Is that true? Did you tell her that?"

"What are…"

"I see, no need to say a word. She's your trusted maid after all, of course, you would tell her everything." She cut in.

The maid's face paled, when Adrian's furious gaze fell on her.
