Chapter 68 - 《DXD: Transfer Student》Chapter 68: Teaching Useless Things

Draconis's offer landed like a thunderclap, reverberating through the Nakano sisters' hearts. Their grades had been haunting them for weeks, and now—out of nowhere—a devil was promising a miracle.

"Is this... the infamous devil's whisper?" Ichika let out a laugh, half in awe, half in jest.

Nino, arms folded and brow furrowed, snorted. "Are you all seriously considering this? Doesn't it feel suspicious? Like, isn't this just too good to be true? Feels like a pie falling from the sky."

Draconis didn't flinch at her skepticism. His voice stayed level, almost bored. "I've got no reason to trick you. Devils make deals, fulfill human wishes, and collect payment to strengthen ourselves. That's the business model these days."

"I believe in Draconis-san! He's a good person!" Yotsuba piped up, nodding so hard she nearly toppled off the couch.

Draconis shot her a dry look. "Thanks, but you can keep your good person card."

The sisters: "..."

Miku leaned forward, curiosity shining in her eyes. "So... no matter what kind of problem we have, we can ask you for help?"

"Exactly. The stronger your desire, the greater the price we collect when the contract is fulfilled. That's why we work so hard to grant wishes."

Itsuki's voice dropped to a whisper. "That almost sounds... dangerous. What if someone wanted to do something illegal?"

A sly grin tugged at Draconis's lips. "You want to try? Destroying the world's out of my league, but blowing up your school? That I could manage. Perfect, since you all hate studying anyway."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa—no way! Don't listen to Itsuki, she's just talking nonsense!" Yotsuba flailed, panic written all over her face.

Draconis chuckled. "Relax, I'm kidding. Breaking the rules isn't allowed. There are boundaries, even for devils."

In the end, this was humanity's era. There were plenty of powerful humans around, and neither devils nor angels could run wild. The only ones who broke the rules were strays or exiles—and they always ended up hunted down.

The sisters traded glances. Suddenly, the decision didn't seem so scary.

"I say we give it a shot. It's not every day you get a peek into a magical world—and I'd rather not have my memory wiped." Ichika flashed a mischievous smile.

Yotsuba, of course, was all in—her wish had summoned Draconis, after all.

Miku and Itsuki nodded, and finally, all eyes turned to Nino.

She hesitated, then pouted. "What, you all agreed? Fine, I'm in. The five of us stick together, no matter what."

Success.

Draconis allowed himself a small, satisfied smile. Five contracts in one day—unheard of. For a devil who'd only had one contractor before, this was huge.

He signed the deals with the sisters, simple contracts this time—not the kind that would make Rias Gremory gasp, like Mai Sakurajima's faith contract. But quantity had a quality all its own. And who knew? Maybe someday, he'd earn their faith as well.

He tapped his fingers lightly on the table, drawing all five girls' attention.

"Alright. From now on, I'll be your tutor. First, let me see your test papers—I need to know what I'm working with."

The moment he spoke, the sisters' expressions shifted—awkward, guilty, almost comical.

They exchanged nervous glances, then, with the reluctance of condemned prisoners, dug their test papers out of their bags.

Draconis took them one by one and scanned the results. It took a moment for the reality to sink in.

"Impressive. You managed to score a hundred points... if you add all five of you together."

The girls shrank into their seats, cheeks burning with embarrassment.

Draconis was silent. He'd expected their grades to be bad—Yotsuba's wish had been for all of them to graduate, after all. But this... this was next-level.

A hundred points, combined. Did these quintuplets share a single brain cell?

He pressed his lips together, fighting the urge to laugh. Clearly, he had his work cut out for him.

Still, with a little memory magic, maybe it wouldn't be impossible.

"Don't worry about it," he said gently. "Just leave it to me."

His calm reassurances caught them off guard.

"Really? You're the first person who's ever told us our grades don't matter..." Ichika said, her laughter tinged with relief.

"But I never said not studying was okay. More knowledge never hurt anyone."

Draconis's casual tone made Nino roll her eyes. "You sound just like the grown-ups."

He tilted his head, giving her a sideways glance. "What's wrong? Hit your rebellious phase?"

"I am not!" Nino snapped. "Anyway, if you're a high schooler too, are your grades actually good?"

Draconis shrugged. "I'm right on the passing line for every subject."

"Huh? So you're not much better than us. And you're supposed to be our tutor?" Nino huffed.

He grinned. "Passing line doesn't mean that's my limit. You think getting a perfect score is hard for me?"

The sisters: "..."

His words were understated, but the arrogance was unmistakable.

"So it really was my fault earlier, wasn't it..." Yotsuba mumbled, face falling. "I just didn't understand those knowledge points..."

Nino shot Draconis a wicked look. "Or maybe the truth is, someone was teaching useless stuff?"

Draconis raised an eyebrow, cool as ever. "How can you, as the older sister, talk about your little sister that way?"

Nino: "...??"

Yotsuba: "...??"

It took a second, then everyone realized what he meant. Silence, then a chorus of groans.

Draconis stood, ignoring Nino's indignant glare. "Alright, I'll head out for today. Tomorrow I'll bring proper materials and start tutoring you all. Get some rest tonight."

"Okay, we're counting on you!" Ichika waved cheerfully.

"See you tomorrow."

As Draconis spoke, a magic circle flared beneath his feet. In a blink, he vanished—leaving the five sisters gaping in wonder.
