Chapter 98 - 《DXD: Transfer Student》Chapter 98: Overwhelming Power

Promotion.

Draconis whispered the word, and the world changed.

A torrent of magical energy erupted from his body, surging upward in a pillar of light so intense it pierced the clouds and set the sky roiling.

But he wasn't alone. At Riser's base—the principal's office on the new campus—an identical pillar of light shot skyward.

Bang!

Riser's magical attack, poised to strike, was shattered by the rising column of power. The blast never even touched Draconis.

"...Is that Promotion?"

Riser's voice trembled, and even Yubelluna and Shuriya—his newly promoted Queen—froze mid-attack, stunned.

Everyone knew Draconis was Rias's Knight.

But now, in front of everyone, the Knight had Promoted.

Were their eyes playing tricks?

Wasn't Promotion supposed to be for Pawns?

And who was the other person triggering a Promotion pillar?

Riser was lost, but the VIPs watching from outside the game understood. They were floored.

Who could have guessed Draconis had this kind of power-sharing trick up his sleeve?

Honestly, it was pure cheat-code territory.

From the observers' view, after Akeno's defeat, Draconis's double had sprinted back to the sports field, then charged headlong for Riser's base.

Now, Rias's side boasted two Queen-level fighters, plus Asia's Saint's Smile to counter the Phenex Tears.

Just like Draconis had said—no one could predict the outcome now.

Whoosh!

Draconis's double dropped from the sky, landing beside his main body in a single-knee pose that whipped up a storm of wind.

One standing, one kneeling—their combined magical pressure was almost unreal.

His power was so immense, it threatened to eclipse even Riser and Rias, enough to make any high-class devil blanch.

"How is this possible? What kind of trick are you pulling?"

Riser muttered, eye twitching as he stared at the two Draconises.

"What trick? That's a nasty way to put it."

Rias couldn't hide her excitement anymore.

"Draconis is a dual-class piece—Knight and Pawn. That's why he can Promote."

She finally let the secret out, pride shining in her eyes.

She'd guarded this revelation for so long, and now she could bask in the shock of everyone present.

Her joy was unmistakable—Draconis was her Peerage, and she was loving every second.

Draconis's double straightened, Regalia Blade materializing in his grip as magic flooded the sword.

He swept the blade at the sealed girls—a crescent arc of light slicing through the air.

With their magic suppressed, they had no defense.

The sword arc traced bloody lines across their bodies, and, with cries of pain, they vanished in bursts of white light.

A single strike—his double had wiped out the sealed enemy girls.

Draconis's main body turned to Riser.

"Your turn."

Riser, third son of the Phoenix family, had never been so blatantly underestimated.

"Damn it! So what if you're dual-class? You dare look down on me? The honor of the Phoenix family will not be defiled. Die!"

Fury boiling, he unleashed a barrage of magic at Draconis.

Draconis just rolled his eyes.

Who cared about Phoenix honor?

"I'm not here to defile your honor. I just want to beat you up."

He spoke calmly, and his double stepped forward, swinging the Regalia Blade without hesitation.

The blade exploded with force, smashing through Riser's magical defenses and drawing blood.

"Master!"

Yubelluna and Shuriya rushed to help, panic in their voices.

Rias started to intercept, but Draconis's voice was steady.

"Rias, leave them to me."

She grinned and stood aside, pulling Asia and Ravel close to watch the show.

Draconis's main body faced Riser alone, while his double, sword in hand, met Yubelluna and Shuriya head-on.

After Promotion, Draconis felt invincible—Rook's strength and defense, Knight's speed, Bishop's magic. His stats had doubled across the board.

Riser's Queens barely got close before Draconis's counterattack sent them reeling.

Just one exchange, and both of them were on the back foot.

He was overwhelming.

Even Shuriya, also in Promoted state, was knocked flying by a single blow.

"Impossible! We're both Promoted—why is your power so far above mine?"

Shuriya crashed to the ground, disbelief written all over her face.

Rias couldn't resist a smug comment.

"Heh, you only used one Pawn piece. Draconis used eight."

Her words stunned everyone.

Eight Pawns and two Knights—invested in a single Peerage member. The potential was monstrous.

Ravel just stared, mouth open, lost for words.

She realized, finally, that Riser might actually lose.

But Riser refused to yield.

"I command wind and fire—I'm an immortal bird! You think you can beat me?"

His wounds healed instantly, and he threw himself into close combat with Draconis.

Draconis barely broke a sweat, wielding the Divine Lament Shield.

Not only was his double overpowered—his Sacred Gear was, too.

The Aegis could split, meaning he essentially had two Sacred Gears.

No matter how Riser attacked, he couldn't break through Draconis's defense. He grew more desperate with every failed strike.

Then, from across the field, two cries of pain echoed.

Riser turned—Draconis's double, Regalia Blade in hand, had just eliminated his two Queens.

Draconis's main body smiled.

"Checkmate, Lord Riser."
