The bell rang, right on schedule.
A chorus of grateful students thanked the teacher for not running overtime as Draconis left the classroom, heading back to the clubroom with the usual crew of beautiful girls.
"Everyone's been swamped lately, and we've let the client requests pile up. Let's get back to business tonight, okay?" Rias announced with a smile.
Everyone nodded.
Akeno laughed. "We really do need to clear out some of those requests, or they'll be stacked to the ceiling. I heard a new client sent one in and we didn't even have time to accept it. Such a waste."
Rias sighed, guilt flickering across her face. "I'm sorry for making you all work so hard because of my problems."
Koneko's serious little face softened. "It's what we do."
Asia finished getting ready, her smile bright as she waved to Draconis. "I'm heading out first~"
He nodded. "Good luck. Knock 'em dead."
"I will!" Asia's cheerful voice lingered as she teleported away.
One after another, everyone left for their assignments, until only Rias and Draconis remained in the empty clubroom. Rias stepped forward, wrapped her arms around him, and pressed a lingering kiss to his lips.
Three minutes passed before they finally broke apart, breathless.
"I could barely keep myself together in class," Rias admitted, laughing. "My mind was nothing but you."
Draconis grinned. "I was sitting right next to you the whole time."
"That's exactly the problem. You being so close just makes it impossible to focus."
She shook her head, a little embarrassed by her own obsession. Just seeing him made her heart race.
"…Should I leave, then?" Draconis teased. "Actually, I'm off to see my girlfriend."
"Go on, go on. Maybe I'll finally calm down," Rias replied, smiling. Not a trace of jealousy in her voice.
For a high-class devil like Rias, these things were normal. In devil society, strength ruled, and harems—whether one husband, multiple wives, or vice versa—were par for the course. Even if drama happened, it always worked out. Harmony was inevitable.
Draconis really was on his way to see Mai Sakurajima. Her commercial shoot had wrapped, and she was finally returning from out of town.
He pecked Rias on the lips and activated a teleportation circle, landing in a quiet alley.
Except—it wasn't so quiet.
A young couple was making out, staring at Draconis in shock as he materialized out of thin air.
Just great.
Unfazed, Draconis triggered his "common sense alteration." The couple's eyes glazed over, and a moment later, they'd completely forgotten the supernatural scene, returning to their clumsy kissing, breath growing heavy.
Draconis strolled out of the alley as if nothing had happened. He'd picked the spot for privacy, but luck had other plans.
After that little detour, he dialed Mai's number. She picked up after two rings.
"Hey, Draconis?"
"Mai, I'm here."
"Give me five minutes," she replied, her tone pure queen.
"Yes, Your Majesty."
Mai let out a soft laugh and hung up.
Three minutes later, a black business car pulled up. The driver was a sharp-looking woman in her twenties, shoulder-length hair and glasses—Mai's manager, Hanawa Ryoko.
The back door opened, and Mai stepped out.
"Thanks for everything, Ryoko."
"No trouble at all, Miss Mai… And this is…?" Ryoko's gaze lingered on Draconis.
Mai walked straight over, standing shoulder to shoulder with him. Ryoko couldn't possibly miss the message.
"This is my boyfriend," Mai said, matter-of-fact.
She turned to Draconis. "This is Hanawa Ryoko, my manager. I've mentioned her before."
"Nice to meet you," Draconis said.
Ryoko stared, frozen for several seconds before finally blurting out, "B-boyfriend?!"
Mai confirmed with a nod.
Draconis caught Ryoko's shock and shot Mai a look—should he use common sense alteration again?
Mai shook her head. She didn't mind Ryoko knowing; it was bound to come out eventually.
Ryoko snapped out of her daze and shook Draconis's hand, still flustered. "H-hi, I'm Mai's manager, Hanawa Ryoko. You can just call me Ryoko."
For some reason, she seemed nervous around him. Maybe it was Mai's strong presence—Ryoko instinctively put Draconis on equal footing with her, figuring anyone Mai liked had to be exceptional.
If Mai knew what Ryoko was thinking, she'd laugh. Draconis wasn't just exceptional; he was so good, he wasn't even human.
But Mai wasn't in the mood for small talk. She hadn't seen Draconis in days, and she missed him.
Under Ryoko's hesitant gaze, the two simply sent her off.
"She's probably worried about tabloid rumors," Draconis remarked as Ryoko left.
Mai shrugged. "Even if we go public, it's fine."
"You're at the peak of your career. Going public could hurt your work."
Draconis never really understood why celebrities had to hide their relationships, why going public meant losing fans—but that was the business.
Mai's answer was simple. "I chose my boyfriend. Why should I hide it?"
Draconis smiled. "Let's hold off for now. Don't worry about me—I won't take it personally."
Mai grinned, a little mischievous. "Honestly, I don't care that much."
Draconis laughed. "Is that really something a girlfriend should say?"
Mai shrugged, self-aware. "I ditched my boyfriend for work. I know I'm not exactly the model girlfriend."
Draconis's smile widened.
Mai Sakurajima really was the world's best girlfriend.
