Chapter 43 - Chapter 43: Fake Will Always be a Fake!

The light screen in the sky darkened, no longer showing images, but lines of text appeared.

[Gilgamesh was swallowed by the black mud and attempted to bind Emiya Shirou with the Chains of Heaven. Archer and Rin Tohsaka arrived in time and successfully rescued Emiya Shirou.]

[After that, Archer disappeared. Before vanishing, he seemed to have resolved a long-standing inner conflict and entrusted Emiya Shirou to Rin Tohsaka.]

[The Fifth Holy Grail War ended. Three days later.]

[As the screen lit up again, the dawn quietly arrived, dispelling the silence of the night.]

[Shirou slowly opened his bleary eyes, looked around, and his gaze finally settled on the clock—10:24 AM, February 26th. He murmured to himself: "Hey, Saber, you should get up now..."]

[He didn't finish his sentence, choked with sobs. Shirou gently covered his eyes with his palms, as if trying to suppress the emotions about to burst forth. He looked up at the ceiling, his heart filled with mixed feelings.]

[Struggling to get up, Shirou's eyes wandered around the room, and every moment he spent with Saber replayed in his mind. His stomach growled timely, reminding him of reality. He pushed open the door, a chill hitting him, but it didn't slow his steps toward the kitchen.]

[He habitually prepared breakfast for two and was shocked when he finished. Suddenly, Shirou's eyes were drawn to the dojo. He put down the breakfast without hesitation and walked straight over. That was the place where he and Saber had their first deep conversation, carrying too many memories.]

[Pushing open the door, the faint sunlight sprinkled on the ground, casting mottled shadows. However, as his field of vision expanded, a figure that shouldn't have been there suddenly came into view.]

["Ah?!" Shirou's eyes widened in astonishment.]

["Shirou, you're awake, and you seem to have recovered well." Rin Tohsaka's voice carried a hint of concern.]

["The wound wasn't deep to begin with, so I thought she should be waking up soon." Saber also spoke, both of them staring at Shirou's stunned expression.]

["Shirou, what's wrong? You've been keeping your mouth open since just now." Saber looked at him with concern.]

["Could it be that you've been injured in some other way we don't know about?" Rin Tohsaka's expression also turned serious.]

["Ah! No, that's not it." Shirou waved his hands hastily, rushed to Saber, his voice trembling, "Sa-Saber? You… why are you here?"]

[Bullet Comments]

[Waver Velvet: No, why? Why is Saber still here?]

[Kayneth El-Melloi Archibald: I saw with my own eyes that after the Holy Grail was severed, Saber turned into points of light and disappeared. Why has she appeared again now?]

[Kirei Kotomine: Could it be that she used the black mud to reconstruct her body, like the King of Heroes?]

[Lancelot: @Kirei Kotomine, How could the King do such a thing!]

While everyone was arguing, the screen began to flash faster, accompanied by text that briefly introduced the scenes.

[Rin Tohsaka contracted Saber as her familiar, allowing Saber to continue existing in the world.]

[However, it was somewhat difficult for Rin Tohsaka to sustain Saber's existence alone, so the task of maintaining Saber was completed by Emiya Shirou with Rin Tohsaka's assistance.]

[In the days that followed, Rin Tohsaka and Saber, as Emiya Shirou's teachers, instructed him in all aspects—one teaching magecraft, the other teaching swordsmanship.]

[Until two years later, Rin Tohsaka proposed going to the Clock Tower, and she could take Emiya Shirou with her.]

[Thus, the two went to the Clock Tower for further studies.]

The flashing screen suddenly stopped at a certain moment.

It was one morning.

["Emiya-kun, could you accompany me for a while today?" Rin Tohsaka asked Emiya Shirou, a gentle smile on her face, her hair casually draped over her shoulders.]

[Shirou nodded slightly, and the two went out together by car, enjoying each other's company.]

[They sat on the soft grass and talked about the last Holy Grail War, as if they had returned to the land of Britain. On the bus ride home, Rin Tohsaka leaned contentedly on Shirou's shoulder and fell asleep.]

[At dusk, Rin Tohsaka strode down the corridor, ready to leave the Clock Tower. At that moment, a man approached them. It was El-Melloi II—Waver Velvet!]

[As the two passed each other, El-Melloi II stopped and asked sideways: "Excuse me, are you the exchange student from Japan?"]

["That's Tohsaka." Shirou stopped and turned to answer.]

["I already know her. I'm asking about you. You're from Fuyuki in Japan, right? You don't look like someone who aspires to be a magus. You're probably an ordinary person who got caught up in a ritual and lost the chance to escape the war?"]

["It's truly puzzling. You finally survived that fierce battle. Why did you come to the Clock Tower? And why did you learn magecraft?"]

[The afterglow of the setting sun fell on him. Shirou turned around and whispered, "Yes, I've learned a lot since I came here. Although I was confused, I want to stick to my beliefs and devote my whole life to this ideal."]

["What are you referring to specifically?" El-Melloi II also turned his back to Shirou and asked curiously.]

["Although I know this idea is a bit foolish, I still want to be…"]

["——A champion of justice!"]

[After saying this, Shirou took a big step and left, leaving only El-Melloi II standing there. After a moment of silence, he said, "I see. Although it is a bit foolish, it's not laughable!"]

["A champion of justice? Indeed, in this place, it may seem a bit out of place…"]

[Bullet Comments]

[Rin Tohsaka: A champion of justice, huh? Congratulations on finding your conclusion!]

[Waver Velvet: It's not easy to stick to your own ideas.]

[Shinji Matou: What kind of champion of justice is this? Emiya Shirou is just lucky, all because he has Avalon inside him.]

[Kayneth El-Melloi Archibald: Although he has some talent, to become a Heroic Spirit like that and call himself a champion of justice is indeed a bit exaggerated!]

[Gilles de Rais: He has no real strength of his own, he just relies on luck!!!]

[Gilgamesh: That's right, how could I lose to such a faker? I just let him win on purpose!]

[Gilgamesh: A fake will always be a fake. A mongrel can only rely on luck to win a battle! And if it weren't for the black mud appearing in the end, I might not have lost!]
