Chapter 45 - Chapter 45: Vow in the Snow

[The light curtain continues to flicker as a meteor streaks across the night sky. Miyu clasped her hands and made a sincere wish: "I wish upon the stars. If my wish can truly come true, I want to become real siblings with Shirou."]

[At that moment, Shirou Emiya was deeply shocked by Miyu's wish. However, they did not notice that the color of Miyu's pupils quietly changed after making the wish, shifting from their original red to an orange-yellow hue similar to Shirou Emiya's.]

[The scene changes. Miyu and Shirou Emiya walk hand in hand on the road to the beach. Eventually, they arrive at a cemetery, where Shirou Emiya reveals her past to Miyu. After hearing it, Miyu looks at Shirou Emiya with gratitude, tears glistening in her eyes.]

[However, when Shirou Emiya honestly tells Miyu that they saved her in order to use her power, Miyu's body can't help but tremble, and the light fades from her eyes.]

[At that moment, the student council president, Yoshiki Rian, suddenly appears, breaking the silence. He walks up to Shirou Emiya and says coldly: "So it was you, the thief... Five years ago, the city was swallowed by darkness, but suddenly a beam of light purified it. I have been searching for the source of that purifying light."]

[Before he can finish speaking, a stern-looking woman with blonde hair and blue eyes instantly appears and severely beats Shirou Emiya. She is Angelica Endsworth, a subordinate of Lord Julian.]

["Are you unharmed, Lord Julian?" Angelica asks expressionlessly as she walks over to Yoshiki Rian—or Julian. Then, she takes Miyu away. Shirou Emiya can only watch them leave. He tries to get up and chase after them, but collapses to the ground, unconscious from his severe injuries.]

Fourth Holy Grail War Timeline, Fuyuki.

Emiya Kiritsugu watched the scene from another parallel world on the light curtain, his heart filled with envy.

Emiya Kiritsugu, who already knew the outcome of the Fourth Holy Grail War, wanted to change that ending, but he had no idea how.

Furthermore, the Holy Grail being corrupted was an unavoidable issue, leaving him extremely busy during this period.

But what about that other world?

There was no Fourth Holy Grail War—this fact alone made him deeply envious.

Even if his own end still inevitably meant death, without the Fourth Holy Grail War, at least Irisviel would not lose her life as the vessel of the Holy Grail.

Illya could probably have a wonderful childhood.

"Eh..."

With a long sigh, Emiya Kiritsugu lit a cigarette and continued pondering what he should do next.

Meanwhile, on the bullet comments (Barrage):

[Magical Girl Illya: I never expected Miyu and Shirou to have such a story!]

[Cu Chulainn: So this is the backstory? Even the prelude is this interesting. I can't wait to see what happens next.]

[Waver Velvet: Compared to that, I'm even more curious about how Shirou Emiya became the Emiya Giant Warrior and accomplished the feat of ending the Holy Grail War in a single night!]

[Shinji Matou: It must be clickbait, a gimmick to get attention! How could anyone end the Holy Grail War in one night? Even if the Grail War in that world is different from ours, you still have to fight seven enemies!]

[Gilgamesh: Even I would not boast so arrogantly; it's truly laughable, you mongrel!]

[Gilgamesh: Besides, judging by that Angelica's appearance and the abilities she used, she must be wielding my power. It's hard to say if he could even win under those circumstances!]

While everyone was discussing, the light screen continued to flicker.

[After Miyu Sakatsuki was kidnapped by Julian, Father Kotomine Kirei rescued the unconscious Shirou Emiya.]

[Under Emiya Shirou's urgent questioning, Kotomine Kirei slowly unveiled the mystery of the Endsworth family.]

["The Endsworths, a famous magus family with a history of millennia, possess no exceptional talents beyond being proficient in the basic magecraft of substitution."]

["However, they shoulder a great mission—by any means necessary, they must save humanity from impending doom. This is the fate of the Endsworth family."]

[Hearing this, a storm raged in Emiya Shirou's heart, as if he had realized something crucial. He was about to speak, but Kotomine Kirei interrupted him, "Using the power of Miyu Sakatsuki to pray for the continued existence of mankind... isn't this a just act?"]

[Kotomine Kirei's gaze was sharp, as if he could see through the struggle and choice within Emiya Shirou's heart.]

["Justice..." Shirou Emiya muttered to himself; the word struck his heart like a heavy hammer. He knew full well that this was completely different from the path of justice he had pursued before.]

[Seeing this, Kotomine Kirei continued: "More than two hundred years ago, the Endsworths desperately performed four rituals in pursuit of the miracle surpassing human wisdom—the Holy Grail. However, each ended in failure. Now, they intend to use Miyu Sakatsuki as the Holy Grail vessel to save all of humanity from peril."]

[These words struck Shirou Emiya's heart like a bolt from the blue. He recalled the final wish of his adoptive father, Kiritsugu Emiya, before his death: that he would use Miyu's power to save the world.]

[However, Shirou Emiya was no longer the boy who blindly pursued justice. He understood deeply that true happiness does not come from sacrifice and salvation, but from inner fulfillment and happiness itself.]

[Therefore, he resolutely abandoned that heavy wish and instead hoped that Miyu could find true happiness.]

[After revealing the hiding place of the Endsworths, Kotomine Kirei quietly left. Yet, despite his utmost efforts, Shirou Emiya could find no trace of them the next day.]

[Returning home, Shirou Emiya seemed to have lost his former spirit. He became listless, like a zombie. His life fell into darkness and despair until Matou Sakura appeared, illuminating his world like a warm ray of sunshine. Matou Sakura's care and companionship helped him rediscover meaning and hope in life.]
