Chapter 19 - [19] The Terror of the Copy Eyes (Bonus)

BOOM!!!

Just as the debate reached its climax, with everyone engrossed in Mayumi's speech, a violent tremor and deafening roar shook the auditorium. Explosions and thunderous crashes erupted one after another.

The students, still immersed in Mayumi's words, snapped back to reality. The mobilized disciplinary committee members sprang into action, swiftly subduing and arresting the monitored Alliance members with practiced precision, as if they had rehearsed this countless times.

But the assault wasn't over yet.

Spindle-shaped objects shattered the windows and flew inside. The moment they hit the ground, they hissed, releasing thick clouds of white smoke.

"Tear gas!"

The student council immediately coordinated with the disciplinary committee. Psion Light enveloped the dispersing smoke, compressing it before it could spread widely. The gas canisters, along with the smoke, were flung back out the windows, vanishing as if the scene were playing in reverse.

This ambush had been anticipated. Though the attackers resorted to explosives and chemical weapons—far more extreme than expected—the countermeasures proceeded as planned.

Yet this was only the beginning of the assault.

BANG!

The auditorium doors were kicked open. Several terrorists in black uniforms, wearing gas masks and looking like plumbers, stormed in.

"Nobody move!"

Seeing this, Mari had already raised her hand, preparing to cast a spell.

But the next second.

"All of you, get down on the—"

Before the words could even be finished.

The bodies of the men suddenly began twisting unnaturally, then burst apart like balloons, dissolving into the finest dust particles floating in the air.

The sight was as if they had been forcibly erased by some unseen force.

Only the guns clattering to the ground remained as proof they had ever existed in this world.

Mari froze.

She didn't understand what had just happened.

Or rather—whose magic was this?

'Big brother's Mist Dispersion?!'

Miyuki covered her mouth in shock, recognizing the spell.

But was it really okay to expose such a destructive ability in such a public setting?

However, Tatsuya, who was currently subduing members of the Alliance nearby, shook his head in denial.

He hadn't even drawn his CAD.

'Could it be... Mahiro-nii-san?'

Shifting her gaze.

Sure enough.

Both she and Watanabe-senpai saw Mahiro holding up one hand, fingers shaped like a pistol, aimed toward the lecture hall's entrance.

The lingering Psion Light around him hadn't yet dissipated.

"Ah, pistol-shaped CADs really are more convenient..."

Mahiro mused lightly.

Though he could cast spells without a CAD by directly reading activation sequences, having a pistol-shaped one just felt more natural.

"Yotsuba-kun, that was...?"

Mari was stunned.

If she wasn't mistaken, that spell just now had to be at least A-rank in lethality. Did he normally store such terrifying magic in his CAD?

Most importantly—his CAD hadn't even been handed over to the storage facility!

"It's nothing, just a little unconventional trick."

Mahiro smiled.

"Oh, right. Senpais, since these guys are terrorists, it's fine to just eliminate them outright, right?"

He turned to look at Mayumi on the stage and Mari below, his expression calm and smiling as he asked.

"...Ah, yes... but with students from our school, restraint should still be prioritized."

"Got it. Then leave the rest to me."

"Be careful!"

Originally, intercepting and neutralizing terrorists should have been handled by a team organized by the Disciplinary Committee.

But the problem was—aside from Mahiro, everyone else in the lecture hall was busy restraining Alliance members.

So Mari didn't refuse his assistance as an "outsider."

Still, recalling how decisively he had acted just now...

This junior might be far more formidable than they had imagined.

...

.....

....

In magic schools, magicians are stationed as teachers to provide practical magic instruction.

First High School is recognized as the highest-level magic school, with a faculty composed of top-tier magicians.

The combat strength of this school is sufficient to repel the military forces of a small nation single-handedly.

The problem, however, is that without preparation, they can still be caught off guard by sudden attacks.

And that's exactly what was happening now.

The campus had already become a battlefield.

Shattered trees and deep craters littered the ground.

Terrorists had crashed through the school gates in trucks, invading the premises.

RPG rockets—museum-worthy relics—streaked through the air, while homemade Molotov cocktails blackened the walls of the school buildings.

Two teachers were working together to deal with the lingering, flammable sticky agents.

Meanwhile, the other students and faculty were engaged in combat with the invading terrorists.

"There's a lone magician here—take him out!!!"

No sooner had he stepped into the courtyard than he was spotted by several terrorists.

They raised their guns, aimed, and fired in one fluid motion, without the slightest hesitation.

Even by the late 21st century, firearms remained the primary weapons of infantry.

"Their marksmanship is quite impressive. It seems these [Blanche] members aren't ordinary."

Faced with a barrage of bullets meant to pin him down, Mahiro showed no panic. He simply raised his hand, and his body was instantly enveloped in psion light.

Like a protective barrier, any bullet that came within a meter of him was disintegrated into molecular particles.

No matter how many bullets flew his way, the result was always the same.

Not a single one could harm him.

"Mist Dispersion."

The psion light flickered again.

The terrorists' bodies twisted grotesquely before disintegrating into dust along with their weapons.

"The library, huh? Such an obvious target."

A faint arc of light flashed in Mahiro's eyes as he turned his gaze toward the already-invaded library.

Well, aside from the students themselves, the only things of value at First High were the modern magic research materials.

As he moved again—

He casually dealt with the rocket-propelled grenades streaking through the sky above him.

Several dry-ice bullets materialized out of thin air and shot forth like bullets, striking down the RPGs mid-flight.

"That's… my Magic Bullet Shooter?"

After restoring order in the auditorium, Mayumi and the others who had just stepped outside froze at the sight of the fireworks blooming in the sky.

"This is… beyond shocking…"

Mari's voice was thick with astonishment, while Mayumi was utterly dumbfounded.

Magic Bullet Shooter—the exclusive secret technique of the Saegusa family!

A composite magic that slowed the motion of air molecules to create dry ice, then accelerated it to subsonic speeds—"Dry Blizzard"—combined with the perceptual magic "Multiple Observation" for sniping!

Aside from Mayumi, who could use it alone, it normally required two people to perform, like her younger sisters, Saegusa Kasumi and Saegusa Izumi.

Yet now, Mahiro had somehow mastered it!

Not only could he use it, but he executed it with such ease and precision that his skill was on par with hers!

And the way he handled enemies so effortlessly—perhaps only the Crimson Prince of the Ichijou family, Ichijou Masaki, could match that level of composure.

Mayumi's gaze toward Mahiro was tinged with a hint of complexity.

After all, neither that Decomposition magic nor Magic Bullet Shooter were magic attributes the Yotsuba family specialized in.

Among those present, only Tatsuya and Miyuki knew the reason behind this.

This was precisely the unreasonable nature of the Copy Eyes.

The current display by Mahiro felt eerily familiar to Tatsuya.

That terror of annihilating enemies with every flicker of psion light—

It was just like himself during the revenge campaign back then—

That very same Mahakala who was called the Demon of Okinawa!
