The next day, as the sun set in the west, a crisp sound rang out when Yang Yunhai's foot landed on the ground covered in dry grass. He had finally reached the edge of the Star Dou Forest.
In the dimming twilight, towering trees over 20 meters tall could be seen everywhere. Their trunks were thick with moss, ferns, and strange fungi, while the forest floor was dense with shrubs and undergrowth.
The evening wind rustled through the interlaced branches and leaves, filling the air with the constant rustling of foliage, mixed with the strange calls of insects.
Looking deeper, the forest grew even denser, sunlight completely blocked out, leaving only endless shadow. The deeper he peered, the more the subtle sounds in the dark made the entire scene feel eerie and oppressive.
"No wonder it's called the Star Dou Forest…" Yang Yunhai sighed. Such an ancient, thriving forest was beyond anything he had seen in his past life. Even the Amazon rainforest couldn't compare to this by eighteen streets.
"Better play it safe. I'll rest here for tonight." He chose a patch of open ground nearby.
From his bundle, he pulled out a pouch of insect-repellent powder—an absolute necessity when traveling—and scattered it around the area. Then he opened what little dry food he had left and began to eat.
"Ugh, traveling without a storage soul tool is really inconvenient." He grumbled between bites.
This time, he had packed more insect-repellent powder for safety, but that meant he had less room for other supplies. Just one change of clothes and not much dry food. Once it was gone, hunting would be his only option.
"When I get to Heaven Dou City, I have to find a way to get a storage soul tool from the Spirit Hall. If I could get one that holds living things, that'd be even better."
He smirked at his own bold thoughts. After finishing his meal, he took a drink of water from his bamboo flask, then settled into meditation.
The reason he chose this spot was simple: from the air, he had seen blue silver grass growing thickly here, making it a natural training ground. The view was open enough that if soul beasts approached, he could spot them early.
As time passed, he suddenly noticed something odd. The circulation speed of his soul power had increased compared to before. Without forcing it, just letting it flow naturally, his soul power was coursing through his meridians smoothly and quickly.
"Wait… did my meridians really get cleared by lightning? Is this the benefit of the eight extraordinary meridians opening up?" Yang Yunhai was stunned.
He thought about it carefully. The body wasn't clay to be molded at will. Forcing techniques like Mysterious Heaven Technique to reroute circulation might not actually be the best path. But if the body naturally opened its own channels, that was true progress.
"Well, whatever! My cultivation speed is faster, and my body's fine. That's good enough."
Pausing his training, he focused again, this time sensing something different. He recalled how in the original story, Tang San, due to his Blue Silver Emperor bloodline, unexpectedly resonated with surrounding blue silver grass, gaining the ability to gather information from them.
His heart raced. Quickly, he summoned his martial soul, dismissed distracting thoughts, and focused.
Moments later, emotions surfaced—warmth, joy, welcome. He could feel it clearly, the simple, unique awareness of the surrounding blue silver grass. Tiny streams of energy trickled into him, carrying faint impressions that spread outward.
In his mind, visions formed. The outlines of trees, shrubs, animals—it was as though every stalk of blue silver grass in the area became his eyes and ears, sharing what they perceived.
His perception spread wider, reaching hundreds of meters.
"This… this is incredible!" Yang Yunhai's heart pounded.
"Spiritual power!" He finally understood. For the first time, he truly felt the existence of spiritual power.
He realized that when he absorbed his first soul ring, the reason he could see his own meridians must have been because his spiritual power had reached the necessary threshold. Years of channeling lightning into his body had constantly tortured him, but that pain had tempered his spirit. That was why his spiritual power had grown.
And after enduring the recent storm of lightning during the Blue Silver Emperor fusion, his spiritual power had risen again, making this ability possible.
"With this ability to sense through the blue silver grass, moving through the Star Dou Forest will be much safer. And hunting for the right soul beast… a hundred times easier. This is a gift at the perfect time!"
He eagerly practiced, growing more familiar with the sensation.
Time passed, night deepened.
Suddenly, through his shared vision with the blue silver grass, he spotted something slithering toward him—a snake, thick as his wrist, its length betraying a cultivation age of at least 100 years.
"Perfect. Tonight's dinner." His eyes snapped open, and with a flick of his wrist, his martial soul lashed out. A vine shot forward, entangling the snake in seconds.
Within ten seconds, the snake was drained and limp.
Yang Yunhai stood, lit a fire, and expertly skinned and cooked it. Being on the outer edge of the Star Dou Forest, he wasn't too worried about stronger beasts noticing the smoke.
A good meal later, he returned to cultivation.
By the next morning, before dawn, he was already up, eating a little and heading deeper into the forest.
The deeper he went, the more the blue silver grass around him became his scouts, feeding him information. With the Blue Silver Emperor's right leg bone granting him flight, his journey remained relatively safe.
Two days later, though he wasn't sure if he'd reached the thousand-year beast territory, the truth was clear: thousand-year soul beasts were appearing more and more frequently.
He advanced cautiously.
Then, through the vision of the blue silver grass, he saw what looked like a small stone hill, more than three meters tall. But on closer look, it wasn't a hill—it was a massive snake coiled around a boulder, so large that its body completely concealed it.
Its scales were covered in strange diamond-shaped protrusions, almost like barnacles clinging to its body, giving it a bizarre appearance.
"It looks like a giant coiled serpent… but its body has barnacle-like growths? Wait…" Yang Yunhai's heart skipped a beat. He immediately activated his flight skill, rushing closer.
At thirty meters away, he stopped, eyes narrowing.
"Alive or dead, I don't know. But if it's alive, its age is definitely over 3000 years."
The power of such a beast would be terrifying, but that was exactly what he needed.
He had originally planned to find a Ghost Vine for its parasitic skill—perfect for scouting, long-distance tracking, and even planting seeds inside enemies for explosions.
But now, this thing before him seemed far more suitable.
He smirked.
"Parasitic skill? Please. Tang San, you know nothing about how to play with that!"
