Chapter 34 - Chapter 34: Arriving at Heaven Dou City, Starting the Story

The night passed without incident. At dawn the next day, the two woke up early.

After a simple wash-up, and once Zhu Zhuqing had finished dressing, Yang Yunhai, who was sitting on the bed, slowly stood up and spoke.

"Zhuqing, can you help me tidy my hair?"

Hearing this, Zhu Zhuqing looked up and examined him. Yang Yunhai's hair had grown long and thick, already reaching past his waist. The bangs in front of his forehead were also heavy, with the hair by his temples hanging down to his chest, covering his ears and neck almost completely.

It really did need some tidying.

And cutting it himself would definitely be difficult.

"Alright." Zhu Zhuqing nodded slightly.

"Then I'll bring a stool. Let's go in front of the mirror in the washroom." Yang Yunhai said as he walked over, picked up a stool, and moved it.

Soon, the two were in front of the washroom mirror. Yang Yunhai sat while Zhu Zhuqing stood behind, helping him trim.

It was only then that Yang Yunhai properly looked at his reflection in the mirror.

On closer inspection, his facial features hadn't changed much. His skin had just become paler, smoother, and his features softer.

'Right, it was just bloodline evolution, not bone reconstruction. Without altering the bone structure, appearance won't change much. Looks like I was just a bit darker before. My foundation was actually pretty good.' Yang Yunhai thought.

'So my looks haven't leaned toward Ah Yin. If Tang Hao sees me in the future, I won't have to worry too much.'

As for his hair color—there were plenty of blue-haired people in the world. He already had blue hair before, just not as bright as now.

'That saves me some trouble.'

'Still, I need a reasonable explanation, especially for my sudden rise in soul power.' His thoughts drifted as he pondered.

After a while, Zhu Zhuqing moved on to trimming his bangs. Because she wore a tight-fitting leather outfit, her voluptuous figure swayed slightly in his line of sight. Her neckline was pale and delicate, the graceful curves casting shadows.

Perhaps realizing she was too close, her cheeks flushed slightly, only making her seem even more alluring.

'This is dangerous, too dangerous. A sin, a sin…' Yang Yunhai stole a glance, then quickly shut his eyes.

Although Zhu Zhuqing had agreed to go with him to Heaven Dou City, she hadn't said anything about being his girlfriend.

After all, they had barely known each other. Understanding and true trust were still far away.

That much, he could completely understand.

So, as a gentleman, his eyes needed to stay respectful.

'No matter what, I've already bought the Dragon Beard Needle and even sabotaged part of the Shrek Seven Devils. That's already a huge win.'

Meanwhile, seeing him close his eyes, Zhu Zhuqing relaxed slightly and focused on trimming.

Another fifteen minutes later, a crisp voice echoed in the washroom.

"Alright. Take a look and see if you need more trimming."

"Okay." Yang Yunhai opened his eyes, looking at the mirror.

Zhu Zhuqing hadn't done anything complicated since there were no men's hair accessories. She had simply tidied and cut it shorter. His bangs were parted in the middle and tucked along his neck, his hair falling neatly down his back to his chest. His ears were visible now, and the look was simple but refreshing. Compared to before, which had been slightly feminine, he now looked far more spirited.

"Not bad at all. Thanks, Zhuqing." Yang Yunhai stood and turned his head from side to side.

As a man aiming to become a stationary-type control master, long flowing hair matched with heroic bearing was exactly his taste.

Long hair fluttering as he stood unmoving, binding and electrocuting enemies from afar while they raged helplessly—that was true style.

"It's nothing." Zhu Zhuqing gave a rare slight smile and nodded.

"Let's go. We should get moving. The hotel staff will clean the hair on the floor later." Yang Yunhai said.

"Mm." Zhu Zhuqing nodded, then glanced at the bundle in his hands. "Put your bag in my soul tool."

"Sure." Yang Yunhai agreed right away. Why refuse when it saved him trouble?

So Zhu Zhuqing took the bundle into her storage soul tool, and the two walked out of the hotel together toward the carriage stop.

Before long, their carriage rolled steadily, heading toward Heaven Dou City.

By noon, clip-clop, two youths—one boy and one girl—walked into Suotuo City.

"Xiao Wu, should we find a place to stay first? It's almost noon, let's eat." Tang San said with a smile.

"Now that sounds better." Xiao Wu tilted her chin, satisfied.

Soon they entered Rose Hotel. As expected, they encountered Dai Mubai. Tang San fought him and won.

After successfully checking in, Xiao Wu quickly grew restless, demanding that Tang San take her shopping. Tang San could only agree.

As they strolled, Xiao Wu suddenly pointed excitedly. "Hey, Xiao San, look over there!"

"That shop seems to have something to do with soul masters."

"Let's take a look." Tang San examined it, deciding to go inside.

They explored the shop but found nothing useful, so they left shortly after.

The next day at noon, Shrek Academy.

Hidden in the shadows, Flender watched Tang San push himself through Zhao Wuji's test, sustaining heavy injuries but passing. As Dai Mubai carried him away, Flender suppressed his excitement at gaining more genius students, then hurried to the school gate.

Scanning around with a frown, he muttered,

"Those two brats didn't come?"

'Could it be they found out who I was, realized I was the shopkeeper that tried to scam them, and decided not to come out of spite?'

Thinking of this possibility, Flender's face twisted in regret, and he cursed.

"Damn it, what a loss!"

Time passed quickly. Days later, outside Heaven Dou City, the carriage stopped.

"Guests, we've arrived at Heaven Dou City." the driver called.

"Finally here." Yang Yunhai sighed softly, then politely said, "Thank you, sir."

He stepped down with Zhu Zhuqing.

Looking up, it was still morning. He turned to her. "Zhuqing, let's first find an inn. After lunch, I'll head to Spirit Hall. I haven't re-certified my rank since breaking through, so I need to collect my stipend."

"Alright." Zhu Zhuqing nodded lightly, following him into the city.

As the empire's capital, Heaven Dou City had no shortage of inns. Along the way they bought paper and brush, then found a hotel.

"Zhuqing, should we book a double room again? Hotels in Heaven Dou are expensive." Yang Yunhai asked at the door.

Her pale face flushed slightly, but she still nodded. "Mm."

Yang Yunhai strode to the counter and booked a double room.

Since their bundle was in Zhu Zhuqing's soul tool, she paid this time.

'Awesome!' Yang Yunhai thought proudly as he accepted the key. Under the admiring gaze of the clerk, he led Zhu Zhuqing upstairs.

Opening the door, he was stunned by the luxury. The room was far larger than their last one. The beds were bigger, and the bedding of high quality.

"No wonder this is the imperial capital. Even the hotels are this extravagant. Land must be priceless here." Yang Yunhai muttered.

Zhu Zhuqing, who had grown up in a noble family and seen better, said nothing, only nodded.

"We've been on the carriage all morning. Let's bathe and change first."

Zhu Zhuqing went in first, then Yang Yunhai. Afterward they went downstairs for a meal. After days of travel food, they finally enjoyed some real dishes.

Returning upstairs after eating, Yang Yunhai spoke. "Zhuqing, you rest. I'll write a few things and then head to Spirit Hall myself."

As he sat at the desk with brush and paper, Zhu Zhuqing simply lay on the bed, back turned, quietly closing her eyes.

Meanwhile, Yang Yunhai began writing carefully, weaving his story with clumsy strokes.

"My name is Yang Yunhai. I was born outside Nuoding City in the Fasno Province, abandoned by my parents beneath a poplar tree, and taken in by Changgong Tai of Spirit Hall to Lone Grass Village's orphanage."

He began drafting his fabricated background—lightning strikes, his mutated Blue Silver Grass, training under thunder, his theories about absorbing higher-year soul rings, his first ring with Changgong Ao, his second with the Bloodthirsty Thorn, his encounter with the mysterious black jade bamboo shoot, his breakthrough to rank 30 under lightning, and finally his theory about soul ring age being tied to body strength.

All of it carefully tailored to be believable, while hiding his secrets.

'The story might sound strange, but my soul power growth is real, and my over-limit ring absorption is real. Salas of Heaven Dou's Spirit Hall will report this to Bibi Dong. And if Chrysanthemum Douluo hears of the black jade bamboo… he'll believe it. After all, how could a village boy know about immortal herbs?'

Satisfied, Yang Yunhai stacked the pages neatly.

Soon after, he left the hotel and walked toward the Heaven Dou City Spirit Hall.
