A quiet night passed.
The next day, Yang Yunhai's stubborn biological clock woke him up early, pulling him out from dreams of the snow-white girl in his sleep.
As the saying goes, "A year's plan starts with spring, a day's plan starts with the morning." Only through daily effort could one reach the Great Dao and realize their dreams. His muscle memory remembered this deeply, so for the sake of his own future, he had long decided to discipline himself diligently.
Half a quarter of an hour later, washed and dressed, Yang Yunhai knocked on Zhu Zhuqing's door.
Silly but sweet, indecisive, aloof in the beginning with her only focus on becoming stronger, but later reduced to relying on others like a flower vase, a mere decoration — this was often how readers of the story described Zhu Zhuqing in his past life.
Honestly, sometimes he agreed.
But then again, wasn't it always like that with the women written by that author? From strong women to fragile dolls, all depending on the needs of the plot. Bibi Dong was like this, Qian Renxue was like this, Hu Liena, Zhu Zhuqing… all the same.
The aura of lowered intelligence — terrifying indeed. So where did the problem lie? He didn't know, didn't understand, and couldn't figure it out.
But one thing was certain: the novel was one thing, reality was another. And he was no saint.
A silly, fragile girl might not be appealing in a story, but if she was by his side, it was different. Especially if she happened to be stunningly beautiful, with a graceful figure, and a temperament like a big, docile cat — who wouldn't like that?
Just as he thought this, a crisp voice came from the room, "Yunhai, give me a little longer. You can go ahead first."
'Women and their delays…' Yang Yunhai sighed with a smile, shaking his head as he went downstairs alone.
Two quarters later, the teammates gathered in the living room. Led by Yu Tianheng, they went out jogging. After three quarters of an hour, circling the trail around the dormitory once, they returned.
By then, breakfast had been served — steamed buns, soy milk, fruit. A balanced meal.
After eating, Qin Ming, seated at the head, began outlining the day's training.
"After thinking it over last night, I have some ideas regarding Xiao Hai's martial soul control."
"Since Xiao Hai can control multiple vines simultaneously, I believe this shouldn't be limited to restraining opponents. It could also be used to support teammates."
"For example, you could tie a vine to an attacker's waist and sling them behind enemy lines to disrupt their formation. Or, when the enemy uses an area soul skill, you could yank teammates back in time to dodge."
"This would make our team far more flexible in attack and defense."
"With Xiao Hai's help, some attacks that usually require us to use soul skills to block might not need to be blocked that way anymore. Some distances we normally need to run might be bridged faster. This would reduce the physical and soul power consumption of our attackers."
"Considering this, I think we could design new tactics with Xiao Hai as the core. We'll practice them for a while and see the results. What do you all think?"
"I think it's workable." Yu Tianheng, as captain, thought it over and nodded.
"I also think it's worth trying." The others agreed.
Qin Ming turned to Yang Yunhai. "Xiao Hai, this will mean more work for you. On the battlefield, you'll not only need to control your vines but also constantly monitor the situation and respond accordingly."
"No problem. For me, this is the perfect training opportunity." Yang Yunhai smiled.
"Also, I had another thought about my third soul skill," Yang Yunhai continued. "If I release parasitic spores onto my teammates while tying them with vines, I can accumulate soul power from the air around them. Later, I can trigger it remotely. This could work as an additional offensive method."
"Or, I could wrap them in vines to defend them."
Everyone's eyes lit up. Yu Tianheng said, "That way, we could even lend Xiao Hai some of our own soul power to strengthen his vines. It's like carrying around an extra control-and-defense ability."
Yu Feng added, "That would make close-range combat specialists hesitate to rush us. No one wants vines suddenly bursting from a teammate's body mid-fight."
"Exactly. The longer the fight drags out, the more effective Xiao Hai's second and third soul skills become," Oslo chimed in.
"Good." Qin Ming nodded. "This is a solid idea. We'll practice it together."
"Then let's not waste time. Teacher Qin Ming, shall we head to the training ground now?" Yu Feng said with excitement.
"Alright." Qin Ming stood.
Soon, everyone was at the training field, practicing new tactics around Yang Yunhai.
Morning was team drills, afternoon was personal training in the simulation fields, evening was a return to the dorms with Zhu Zhuqing, and night was soul power cultivation. For the next few days, Yang Yunhai's schedule was like this — until a messenger arrived with news from Meng Shinji that the personal training ground he requested was ready.
So Yang Yunhai followed a teacher out of the academy.
The path wasn't far. It was a narrow mountain trail with a sign marking: "Non–First Team Members Forbidden." Past the winding path was a dense forest, and after half an hour they reached the destination.
It was a long valley between two tall stone mountains. A clear spring flowed out, forming a stream through the middle. Beside the stream, Blue Silver Grass grew abundantly — some had already reached the age of ten-year soul beasts. The cliffs on both sides were steep, like the mountains he once climbed while seeking the Blue Silver Emperor.
To the right of the thickest Blue Silver Grass stood a brand-new wooden cabin.
"How is it, Xiao Hai?" the teacher asked with a smile.
"I'm very satisfied. Please thank the three deans for me," Yang Yunhai replied politely.
"Good. Then I'll report back." The teacher nodded and left.
Yang Yunhai inspected the cabin, then returned to the dormitory.
At dinner, he raised his head and said, "Teacher Qin Ming, everyone, the training site I asked for has been finished. To save travel time, I'll be moving there soon. From now on, I'll come straight to the training ground in the morning."
"Why bother? Aren't there already Blue Silver Grass simulation fields in the academy? Why build another one?" Dugu Yan asked in confusion.
"It's for martial soul development," Yang Yunhai explained. "Sister Yan, remember what I said about testing my second soul skill's ability to absorb poison? I still haven't bought animals for that. I can't exactly raise them in the dorms."
"Fine. Better you keep them outside. Easier to bury if they die," Dugu Yan waved her hand.
"That's what I thought." Yang Yunhai nodded.
Qin Ming said, "Alright then. Xiao Hai, if the team has new plans, I'll inform you each morning."
"Thank you, Teacher Qin Ming."
Dugu Yan suddenly smirked. "And Zhu Zhuqing? You're just going to leave her here?"
Yang Yunhai looked at Zhu Zhuqing. "Zhuqing, do you want to come too? The cabin has extra rooms. And the valley has steep cliffs, perfect for your training. Climbing them will strengthen your arms, grip, and legs, improving your speed and explosiveness. It'll also enhance your balance and core strength."
"When you can climb a sheer cliff as easily as walking on the ground, your combat ability will greatly improve."
Oslo whistled. "That training makes me want to join."
Yu Tianheng also grew thoughtful. "This could work for me too."
"For beast-type soul masters, this is excellent training," Qin Ming agreed, eyes bright.
"Just don't turn into a lightbulb couple. That's the most annoying thing," Dugu Yan muttered.
"Then I'll train elsewhere," Oslo quickly said.
Qin Ming only smiled.
Zhu Zhuqing lowered her head slightly, then softly nodded. "Mm."
"Good. Tonight we'll pack, and after morning training tomorrow, we'll move," Yang Yunhai said.
"Alright." Zhu Zhuqing nodded again, her voice quiet.
The next day, after lunch, Yang Yunhai and Zhu Zhuqing left with their things and moved into their new residence.
