Chapter 143 - Chapter 143: All About Acting

"Afterward, the reply from the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan only made me angrier," Dugu Bo continued.

"They actually wanted to use a 10,000-year soul bone as a betrothal gift to have my granddaughter's marriage fixed in advance. The key is, Yu Tianheng just accepted it as it was and delivered it word for word."

The room fell into silence.

Yu Tianheng was foolish, but they hadn't expected even the senior members of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan to be this... Both committee members felt speechless.

"At first, I thought Yu Yuanzhen would knock some sense into Yu Tianheng. Who knew this boy was hopeless trash?" Dugu Bo's anger grew as he spoke, his face flushing red.

"But, for Yan Yan's sake, I didn't immediately force her to break up with him. Instead, I told her to reevaluate him later on."

"As for what happened afterward…" Dugu Bo turned toward Ning Fengzhi. "Sect Master Ning, your daughter is studying at Shrek Academy. You should know what happened at Suotuo City's Great Spirit Arena. Tang San used a man-made weapon to strike viciously. If Xiao Hai hadn't reacted in time, not only would he and my granddaughter have died, the entire Heaven Dou team could have been wiped out."

"What?!" Meng Shenji and Zhi Lin both turned pale with shock.

Qin Ming hadn't reported this to them at all.

Ning Fengzhi's face stiffened, but he still nodded. "That Tang San student did indeed go too far."

Dugu Bo nodded. "Yan Yan told me that afterward, Yu Xiaogang, the leader of Shrek Academy, went to find Yu Tianheng, and it was in full view of the Heaven Dou team. During the match, some team members had noticed Yu Xiaogang watching from the viewing stands, standing in the position of a leader. Since Yu Tianheng called him 'Uncle Xiaogang,' my granddaughter naturally guessed his identity."

"Heh. Back then, when Yu Tianheng relayed information about Xiao Hai obtaining an Immortal Herb, it led the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan to send people to scour the mountains. I knew about that. Later, after the clan replied, I told Yan Yan about it. With that in mind, and after Xiao Hai thoroughly crushed Shrek in the arena, Yu Xiaogang coming to find Yu Tianheng… do you really think it was just to reminisce?"

"So when Yu Tianheng returned to the hotel, my granddaughter casually mentioned it."

"Hehe. And Yu Tianheng couldn't hide his emotions at all. With just one glance at his expression, she guessed he had already spilled Xiao Hai's information. A few more words confirmed it outright. Then, when she tried to kindly persuade him to wake up and even suggested Yu Xiaogang's approach might have been deliberate, what did she get? A cold face, thrown right back at her."

He swept his gaze across the room. "Can you even imagine my feelings when I heard this from her?"

"Old Poison, that brat clearly never cared about your granddaughter at all," Chrysanthemum Douluo sneered, stoking the fire.

"Yu Tianheng really went too far," Meng Shenji frowned, no longer able to defend him.

'Good thing he left early.' He felt deeply relieved.

If this had happened during the Soul Master Tournament, and Yu Xiaogang had coaxed Yu Tianheng into blurting things out again, it would have been disastrous.

Ning Fengzhi, bound by the principle of unity among the Upper Three Sects, said nothing more than a stiff nod.

Dugu Bo continued, "How could I entrust my granddaughter to someone so heartless, unprincipled, and weak-willed? With the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan being so rotten, why would I push her into the fire pit? So I figured it was better to rely on myself. Since the poison in my body had already been removed, I decided to consume the Immortal Herb myself. Even if the improvement was small, it was better than leaving it in unreliable hands."

"In the end, the results far exceeded my expectations." He gave a slight nod. "The effect was not bad at all."

"That's everything I needed to say." His eyes swept the room again, his voice casual. "If anyone has questions, ask them now. Don't come bothering me later, or don't blame me for being rude. You all know my poison—maybe I can't kill Titled Douluo, but slaughtering a bunch of juniors is no problem."

"My principle has always been this: if people don't offend me, I won't offend them. But if they do, I cut the weeds and pull up the roots."

'You've all heard it. Don't come whining later.' He thought this as his gaze again lingered on Ning Fengzhi and Chrysanthemum Douluo.

'This lunatic…' Ning Fengzhi's heart tightened. He paused, then tentatively asked, "Senior Dugu, could you tell me how to enter the Poison Miasma Zone? I'm willing to offer proper compensation in exchange."

"Sect Master Ning, you want to go inside looking for Immortal Herbs?" Dugu Bo turned his head, casually placing a porcelain bottle on the table. "This is an antidote pill I made. It's yours. But let me make this clear. The only reason I could move freely in the Poison Miasma Zone was because my martial soul is inherently poisonous, and I lived with poison in my body for years, so I had unusually high resistance. This pill was just the finishing touch."

"As for how far anyone else could go after taking it… I wouldn't know."

"In any case, Ning thanks you sincerely." Ning Fengzhi cupped his hands, carefully storing the bottle away.

'Looks like he's already combed the Poison Miasma Zone from end to end.' His thoughts turned grim.

Whether he had scoured it years ago when he first found the herbs, or more recently after consuming them, Dugu Bo clearly hadn't left anything untouched.

His eyes flicked toward Chrysanthemum Douluo, thoughtful.

"What? Yue Guan, you want some too?" Dugu Bo raised his chin, taunting.

"No need." Chrysanthemum Douluo's voice was cold, his gaze narrowing. "Old Poison, your story might fool Sect Master Ning, but you won't fool me. Don't forget, I've spent decades studying medicine."

"Hmm?" Ning Fengzhi's interest sharpened.

Dugu Bo's brow furrowed. "Yue Guan, what do you mean?"

"It's simple," Chrysanthemum Douluo replied. "I've been to the Poison Miasma Zone. Even with an antidote pill, in your condition back then, you couldn't have gone deep. If anything, inhaling the poison fog would've driven your mixed poison even further out of control, and you would've died inside."

Dugu Bo fell silent. Then, slowly, he drew a faint purple blossom from his waist.

"Immortal Herb… Aromatic Silk Beauty!" Chrysanthemum Douluo's eyes widened. He looked up at Dugu Bo. "So that's why you dared to enter. You had this with you."

"What is that?" Ning Fengzhi's eyes fixed on the softly glowing flower in Dugu Bo's hand.

"I don't know," Dugu Bo said seriously. "I found it in a valley in the Star Luo Empire. Its strange glow drew my attention. After testing, I realized it could neutralize my own venom, so I've carried it ever since."

"Of course it can resist your poison." Chrysanthemum Douluo gave him a scornful look. "The Aromatic Silk Beauty is a nemesis to all toxins. It doesn't cure poison, but it neutralizes it. Within its glow, no poison can invade the body—unless you swallow it voluntarily."

"So, you want to steal it?" Dugu Bo sneered.

"I don't use poison. It's worthless to me." Chrysanthemum Douluo shrugged, then raised his brow. "But… I know some people who covet the dragon-type soul beasts inside the Poison Miasma Zone. Old Poison, why not join Spirit Hall? I'll guarantee your safety. If you agree, all past grudges between us can be wiped away."

Ning Fengzhi's heart skipped. He knew exactly who those 'some people' were.

"Erase grudges? Hah. If you kneel right now, maybe I'll consider it," Dugu Bo shot back coldly.

"Unreasonable!" Chrysanthemum Douluo barked, his face dark. He stood abruptly, glaring. "Let's see if you can still laugh later." Then he turned toward Ning Fengzhi with a cold smile. "The Upper Three Sects are supposed to stand together."

"Goodbye." With that, he stormed out. Salas followed at his heels.

"Sect Master Ning, rest assured," Dugu Bo said flatly. "I would never do anything underhanded to you."

Ning Fengzhi cupped his hands. 'With such an Immortal Herb in his possession, it's clear Dugu Bo long ago stripped the Poison Miasma Zone of its dragon-related treasures.'

Even if Chrysanthemum Douluo revealed what he knew, it no longer mattered.

Xue Qinghe also stepped forward. "Senior Dugu, please be at ease. You are a guest of our royal family. The Empire will never ignore your safety."

'Perfect,' he thought. 'When I report back to Father, I can frame last night's intruder as someone from the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan who discovered Dugu Bo's changes and tried to abduct Dugu Yan.'

As for Dugu Bo's Immortal Herb, it had no use for them anyway.

Dugu Bo tucked the flower away, nodding faintly.

"Since that's settled, if there's nothing else, I'll be off," Ning Fengzhi said politely.

The others offered their farewells and departed.

Later, in the carriage, Bone Douluo frowned. "Fengzhi, Spirit Hall will surely spread word of what happened today, especially about Yu Tianheng and the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan. They'll fan the flames, pinning last night's break-in on them to ruin their reputation. Dugu Bo clearly intended this, recounting Yu Tianheng's mistakes in detail to hand Spirit Hall a weapon of revenge."

"But Chrysanthemum Douluo exposed the flaw in his story, forcing him to reveal the Aromatic Silk Beauty. That herb has immense value to the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan ."

"No wonder he wanted to keep it hidden."

"Let's just hope they don't act rashly," Ning Fengzhi sighed.

Bone Douluo nodded. "Still, Dugu Bo consuming Immortal Herbs for himself isn't a bad thing. He and Xiao Hai stand alone, with no clan backing them. Best to maintain good relations, maybe even draw them closer. The Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan , on the other hand… if Yu Tianheng had married Dugu Yan and gained such a treasure, with Dugu Bo's support, they might have risen anew."

"But as things stand, it looks like Dugu Bo wants to pair Dugu Yan with Xiao Hai. With their talent and his protection, they could one day form a powerful new force."

Ning Fengzhi agreed. "Yes. Dugu Bo, together with the future achievements of Yang Yunhai and Dugu Yan, must be taken seriously by the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan."

Bone Douluo thought for a while, then said quietly, "Honestly, I think Yang Yunhai has greater potential than Tang San. Tang San may have twin martial souls, but he's been misled by Yu Xiaogang. Talent alone won't guarantee he reaches the peak. Sometimes focus is an advantage."

He went on to compare the greats of the past, noting that in comprehension of martial souls, Tang San was already falling behind.

Ning Fengzhi nodded slowly. "We'll see how the two perform in the Soul Master Tournament."

Meanwhile, in the Spirit Hall's temple in Heaven Dou City, Chrysanthemum Douluo gave Salas his orders. "Spread word of today's meeting, especially Yu Tianheng's disgrace. I want the entire Soul Master world laughing at the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan . Let's see who still dares side with them."

"Yes, Elder," Salas bowed and left.

Chrysanthemum Douluo turned back to his desk. 'I'll need to send a letter to Her Holiness Bibi Dong, explaining everything so she doesn't misunderstand the Aromatic Silk Beauty and imagine Dugu Bo has other Immortal Herbs too.'

He dipped his pen, starting to write.

'Now, let's see if this bait hooks the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan .'
