Chapter 231 - Chapter 231: How Do You Explain This?

"Go to that old guy next door for a second diagnosis," Chrysanthemum Douluo said with a slight nod, his tone calm.

"That way, no one can say I'm making things up."

Yu Tianxin withdrew his hand, clenched his fist, and walked toward Dugu Bo with a somewhat lost expression.

Soon, Dugu Bo's even voice rang out. "That old fellow Chrysanthemum Douluo didn't lie. The situation is the same."

Chrysanthemum Douluo's eyelids twitched, feigning anger as he said coldly, "Next!"

"Your condition is about the same as the previous one..."

"The situation is the same."

"Next... the situation is the same." One student after another stepped forward, then returned to their team.

Soon it was the turn of Godwind Academy, Blazing Academy, and Skywater Academy. Those who had only been restrained by Yang Yunhai's vines were fine, but those stabbed by Tang San's Eight Spider Lances—without exception—were afflicted.

Each returned to their team pale-faced, eyes blazing with fury as they glared at Yu Xiaogang.

It had long been spread that Tang San was Yu Xiaogang's personal disciple. As a teacher, as a so-called "theory master," always at his disciple's side—could he really not have known that his disciple's external soul bone possessed a devouring ability?

Then why didn't he warn anyone!?

If they had been warned before the tournament, would they have ended up like this?

Time passed bit by bit. Chrysanthemum Douluo's eyes turned toward Shrek Academy. "Next."

As captain, Yu Tianheng walked forward with a pale face.

Chrysanthemum Douluo placed his hand on him, then raised his head, his expression strange. Even he fell silent for a moment.

So pitiful—worse than Yu Tianxin!

"You too have organ failure, but it wasn't caused by poison or life force being devoured. It's from strain. Simply put, overtraining caused muscle strain, which then affected your organs. Also, if I'm not mistaken, when your team used you as the core to perform that multi-person fusion skill, the immense energy rushing into your body aggravated the damage. After that match, your whole body must have been aching, right?"

"I can only say your situation is even more serious than your cousin's. In this lifetime, reaching the level of Soul Saint is likely impossible."

Yu Tianheng's face turned even paler.

Not far away, Yu Xiaogang's body trembled. If the clan learned of this, they would surely kill him.

The next second, his vision went black and he collapsed.

"Xiaogang!"

Liu Erlong reacted quickly, catching him, then turned eyes full of resentment toward Yang Yunhai.

"What? You steal someone's things, tamper with them, and train recklessly until something goes wrong—yet you want to blame the owner?" Dugu Bo's brows rose.

'Well, there are people who steal vegetables, eat themselves to death, and demand the owner pay up.' As a transmigrator, Yang Yunhai had long since stopped being surprised. He glanced at Yu Xiaogang, raising a brow.

'Fainting at every setback... Yu Xiaogang's habit of running from problems has sunk into his very bones—it's practically passive now.'

The other academy students looked coldly at the unconscious Yu Xiaogang, some even showing schadenfreude. If Yu Tianxin could be said to have been indirectly harmed, Yu Tianheng had undoubtedly been destroyed directly by his own uncle.

Bibi Dong's gaze also fell on Yu Xiaogang. Her fingers twitched slightly, and a trace of pity flashed in her eyes. But things had gone beyond her control. She turned her gaze toward Yang Yunhai, the one who had set this all in motion.

From the standpoint of Spirit Hall, Yang Yunhai had done nothing wrong. But from a personal angle... her teeth clenched.

No doubt, after today Yu Xiaogang was finished. Even if he lived, his life would be nothing but pain.

Yu Tianheng walked back to his team, vacant-eyed, not bothering with a second diagnosis from Dugu Bo.

'So it's true.' The other academies thought. Not seeking confirmation was essentially an admission.

"Next," Chrysanthemum Douluo called.

Dai Mubai stepped forward, face dark.

"Your situation is about the same as the last one." Chrysanthemum Douluo withdrew his hand, speaking flatly. There was one detail he didn't voice: Dai Mubai's kidney failure was already severe—another few times like this and he'd be a eunuch. 'When you get home, increase the intensity—see if we can achieve that sooner,' he thought coldly.

"Next," he said with a nod.

Dai Mubai didn't seek out Dugu Bo either. He simply returned to his team, his face grim, casting a glance at Yu Xiaogang without a word.

Ma Hongjun nervously shuffled forward. Chrysanthemum Douluo placed his hand on him, then looked him over. This one was worse—if he kept overindulging, he wouldn't just be a eunuch, he'd be dead.

"You're the same as the last one." He gave the bland reply.

Ma Hongjun went pale and hurried to Dugu Bo.

'So severe... and with this fire attribute, he won't live many years.' Dugu Bo looked him over and said lightly, "The situation is the same."

Ma Hongjun hunched his back, lifeless, and stumbled back to his team.

"Your condition is better. Go back and recuperate," Chrysanthemum Douluo said as Oscar stepped down.

"Yours is about the same as the last two," he said in turn to Jing Ling, Huang Yuan, and Tai Long.

"Hm? You're fine." His eyes shifted to Jiangzhu—he was slightly surprised.

Jiangzhu exhaled in relief, bowed, and returned to the team. Ning Rongrong strode up.

"You're fine too," Chrysanthemum Douluo said, glancing at Ning Fengzhi knowingly. Of course this one already knew.

"I asked to reduce the training intensity," Ning Rongrong explained softly.

"I see." Chrysanthemum Douluo nodded, watching her return to Jiangzhu's side.

So in the end, all of Shrek's problems came from overtraining-induced organ damage. Yang Yunhai had never drawn out life force—his second soul skill only absorbed soul power. But Tang San had truly devoured life force.

Comparing the results, the academy students all realized: those bound by Yang Yunhai's vines were perfectly fine. Those stabbed by Tang San's Eight Spider Lances had all been cursed.

'Damn it...' Those who had been pierced by Tang San looked even angrier.

Especially the Spirit Hall Academy team members—if they hadn't come today, they still wouldn't know. Last night they'd all burned with fever, and they still weren't fully recovered.

"You—how do you explain this?" Bibi Dong's face was calm as she turned toward Flender, whose face was grim.

"Reporting to the Pope." Flender bowed quickly. "It is true that Lord Tang Hao once entered Xiaogang's room at night and left a set of blueprints. But he never explained the source, and we didn't know where the contents came from."

"Xiaogang modified them only because he felt the devices lacked variation."

'Tell that to a ghost.' The other academies' students looked on with disbelief.

"As for Tang San devouring soul beasts, he said it was to absorb the poison within certain soul beasts to promote the evolution of his external soul bone and strengthen its toxins. As for devouring soul power or life force, he has never told any of us." Flender continued. "On this point, the other members of the team can all testify."

At this point, there was no way he could cover for Tang San. Otherwise, they'd all be doomed.

Bibi Dong turned her gaze toward the rest of Shrek Academy. They all nodded.
