Chapter 248 - Chapter 248: Qian Muxue

"???" Yang Yunhai froze, raising his head instinctively, his toes bracing against the edge of the bed as he pulled backward with force.

This scene—damn it, he had seen it before!

"Qian Renxue, wake up!" he shouted quickly.

Qian Renxue clutched his wrist tightly, her grip unnaturally strong, and he couldn't break free.

"I... I'm hot..." Qian Renxue clung on like he was her lifeline, her hand tightening with sudden force.

'What the hell, where did you get so much strength from? Let go! I don't want to end up being hunted down by you and your grandfather afterward!' Yang Yunhai's mind was in chaos.

His free left hand shot forward, trying to push against Qian Renxue's shoulder. But then, his upper body was locked down as her limbs coiled around him, twisting continuously, making his bones creak.

"Hot..." Qian Renxue murmured while squeezing harder, her grip like an octopus binding him completely.

"Hiss..." Yang Yunhai grimaced in pain. People often released inhuman strength when unconscious, and he believed it now. Qian Renxue's cultivation was already far beyond his, and in this state, she was pushing it even further.

It just hurt like hell.

Inside his soul bone space, Yiner looked worried but powerless. She had no combat ability, and against a rank 70 Qian Renxue, she couldn't even pull her away.

Besides, showing herself would expose her. Before coming, Yun had told her specifically not to come out.

Yang Yunhai grit his teeth and quickly converted his soul power into cold attributes, spreading it over his skin.

Mist filled the room instantly, but it was useless. Qian Renxue still kept pressing, biting at his neck like mad.

"Forgive me." Golden lightning suddenly crackled inside the room.

"Ahhhh—!" Qian Renxue screamed. The fire attribute energy rampaging inside her blocked most of the lightning's effect, so she wasn't paralyzed, but the pain still tore at her flesh.

Strangely, Yang Yunhai felt like he heard two voices.

'Hehehe... sleep, my dear little Xue'er. When you wake up, everything will be as you wish...'

A voice full of temptation whispered in Qian Renxue's head. Her vision blacked out, her consciousness fading. Her body loosened, finally falling into sleep.

"Finally solved." Yang Yunhai exhaled in relief, pushing to free himself.

"Is that so?" A sultry, commanding voice suddenly spoke. Pressure surged on his arms, and flames erupted from her collar.

"???" Yang Yunhai stiffened. Then he saw Qian Renxue, wrapped in fire, slowly lifting herself up. Her arms still locked tightly around him. Her face was still flushed, but her lips curled into a faintly wicked smile as she looked down at him.

"My dear, you think I can just let you go now?"

"Hm?" Yang Yunhai's expression changed, his brows furrowing. "You're not Qian Renxue?"

"My dear, you should be thanking yourself." Qian Renxue smiled. "That little lightning strike of yours hurt quite a bit, but it gave me the chance to take over."

She shifted her body slightly closer.

"Do you even know what you're doing?" Yang Yunhai's face darkened as he struggled.

"My dear, there's no point resisting." Qian Renxue's voice was sweet and sultry. "Thanks to you, my cultivation has already reached rank 70, and I carry a soul bone nearing 100,000 years. My physical strength far surpasses yours—you can't break free. And don't bother trying to shock me again. With the power of Holy Light Purification and my newly enhanced flames, your lightning won't work. And your vines? They'll just burn. The gap in cultivation can't be crossed. For your so-called 'test,' I've been training hard."

'Damn it, I've been set up by my own gift. What's with this version of Qian Renxue? Why does she sound so twisted?' Yang Yunhai's mind was a mess.

"Who the hell are you?" he demanded.

"You'll know soon. But if I keep suppressing myself, this body won't last." Qian Renxue's seductive smile deepened.

Yang Yunhai's face stiffened.

"Don't move recklessly."

Her brows arched, her voice teasing: "My dear, now I can answer you."

'Shit...' Yang Yunhai felt utterly humiliated.

"...!" Yiner inside the soul bone space was stunned.

"A long time ago, there was a little girl. She lost her father early, and her mother looked at her only with disgust and hate," Qian Renxue said softly, her reflection dancing in the crystal mirrors on the walls. "She thought it was her fault, so she tried harder and harder to prove herself. But the harder she tried, the more her mother hated her."

"As if her very existence was the problem."

"So, to stop making her mother unhappy, and to prove herself, she left home."

"She wasn't even ten years old."

"In a strange place, she walked on eggshells every day. She had no one to confide in, no friends. At night, she sometimes cried alone. When faced with hard choices, she had no one to rely on. Day after day, she learned to speak to herself."

'What the... split personality?' Yang Yunhai's heart trembled.

"And so, I was born. The one who comforted her, made choices for her—whether cruel, ruthless, or merciless."

Qian Renxue smiled faintly. "You can call me Qian Muxue. 'Muxue'—Twilight Snow. I like it."

"My dear, thank you. Without your lightning, I wouldn't have had the chance to split off and take control."

'A self-protective personality... her dark side... this is pure rationality, even beyond the flesh. Terrifying...' Yang Yunhai's heart sank.

Qian Renxue shot him a playful glance before her expression turned alluring again. "My dear, keeping you here is simple. Xue'er needs an heir to inherit the empire. The Qian family needs a child to pass on its legacy. You were right—Bibi Dong is unfit to be Pope. The family's foundation can't be ruined by her, nor handed to her disciple."

"So, I thought about it and decided—our child is the best choice. Only you are worthy."

"With our talents, the child's gifts will be unmatched. My dear, you must protect me and our child."

'So now I'm just a tool?' Yang Yunhai's face darkened. He stared at this cold yet enchanting version of Qian Renxue. "Let me go first."

"No. What if you run away?" Qian Muxue's smile deepened. "For the child to be born soon, my dear, today you'll have to work hard."

"If you try to escape, I'll just write to my grandfather and say you forced me. He'll kill your whole family."

"You—!"

"My dear, I was wrong!"

"...!"

Outside, on the grass, Ghost Douluo's face was stiff with shock.

But he didn't dare step in. Things were far more complicated than he expected. Maybe Qian Muxue wouldn't harm Xiao Hai... but Qian Renxue waking up afterward? That was another matter.

'Please, let nothing go wrong. This medicine... forget it, I'll just give it back to Dugu Bo later.'

Over an hour later, inside the secret chamber, the sound of running water echoed—then faded.

"My dear, you're amazing." Qian Muxue rested against his chest, eyes gleaming softly.

Yang Yunhai's face darkened. 'Can't you say a single thing without a hidden agenda?'

He sighed heavily. Carrying her, he walked out of the chamber, laid her on the bed, and pulled the quilt over her.

"Dear, slow down, I won't see you out," she whispered, her voice sultry.

Yang Yunhai kept silent, turned, and left.

'What the hell just happened...' Snake Lance Douluo and Porcupine Fish Douluo looked at him in shock.

'Looks like it's done.' Dugu Bo's eyes narrowed slightly, nodding calmly. "Finished absorbing? Then we should go."

"Yu Long, see our guests out," came a voice from inside.

"Yes." Snake Lance Douluo turned politely. "This way, please."

Yang Yunhai nodded and left with him.

Soon, they boarded the carriage back to the academy.

"Grandpa, you and Teacher are hiding something from me, aren't you?" Yang Yunhai asked directly.

Qian Renxue's reaction to the Cockscomb Phoenix Sunflower... he suspected they had known but kept silent.

"There is one thing I haven't told you," Dugu Bo nodded, steering the topic away. "Ning Fengzhi of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan once approached me."

He explained their talk but left out Ning Fengzhi's idea of marrying Ning Rongrong.

"Cooperation is fine," Yang Yunhai nodded. "But I don't want to be drugged again."

"Do you think I'd do that?" Dugu Bo retorted.

'You totally would!' Yang Yunhai cursed in his heart.

'Damn, I actually got played by a split personality... Today's a mess. Even if I managed to turn things around later, the start was too humiliating. And when Qian Renxue wakes up, who knows what'll happen. I'm nervous already.'

Even if Qian Muxue promised to smooth things over, could he really trust her?

He glanced at Dugu Bo, but said nothing about what had just happened.

'Qian Renxue having a split personality... The original story never mentioned that.'

'She really is pitiful. Hated by her mother from birth, sent undercover into the scheming royal palace at such a young age, alone with no one... It's no wonder her mind fractured.'

Back at the East Palace, as soon as Yang Yunhai left, Qian Renxue fell into deep sleep.

Only hours later, deep into the night, did she stir awake. She sat up suddenly—feeling no discomfort.

She sighed in relief, placing a hand on her chest. Looking down at her clothes, her expression turned complicated.

Sitting silently for a while, she finally rose, sat at her desk, and began writing a letter.
