Tang San's body suddenly changed. His skin flushed crimson, and eerie green flames burst out from the surface.
"Ugh!" He felt as if his entire body was burning alive, blood racing wildly, heart hammering at double its normal pace. The pain made veins bulge across his body.
'I can't die! Absolutely not! My parents' revenge, Xiao Wu's revenge, my revenge… I still have too many debts to settle!' Gritting his teeth, he forced his will to flare and endured the agony.
Time crawled. His skin began to crack open, oozing foul black ichor.
At his heart, faint golden motes seeped from his bones, gathering together with streaks of color.
The green flames burned on, time passed, and soon signs of fusion appeared. At the core, a flicker of emerald light pulsed.
Moments later, his hair slowly turned green, his breathing steadied, and the raging pain subsided.
An hour later, Tang San opened his eyes. His pupils gleamed with an eerie dark green.
"Huff…" He exhaled a heavy breath, lifting his hand instinctively. Through the dried black crusts, pale skin showed beneath, fingers tipped with sharp, dark green nails.
"This is…?" His eyes flickered in shock. He pulled out a mirror from his soul tool and froze.
The human-skin mask had fallen away. The reflection staring back was ghastly pale, alien, and sinister—green hair, green eyes, a face utterly transformed.
He touched his own cheek, confirming it was real. "How could this happen?" His features had changed almost beyond recognition.
'Could it be because of the Blue Silver Grass awakening with the seventh soul ring?' He knew that after obtaining Martial Soul Avatar, the soul and body would merge.
Hurriedly, he summoned his martial soul.
The vines were now entirely dark green, webbed with blood-red lines—utterly transformed.
Then, information surged into his mind. Tang San's expression flickered. His martial soul had evolved, awakening a domain ability. Just like when new soul skills were naturally understood upon absorbing a ring, he instinctively grasped it.
Poison Corrosion Domain. Within its range spread a virulent miasma of corrosive poison. Anything touched by it would be infected, body functions rapidly breaking down until death. Corpses would melt into nothing, and their stolen life force would flow back into the domain, nourishing the host.
It could replenish soul power and even heal his wounds.
"What a terrifying domain…" Tang San couldn't hide the gleam of joy on his face.
But unease pricked at him. He remembered the strange aura during his agony earlier—it had felt just like the Rakshasa God.
'So… the god test is real?' He frowned, then shook his head. "At least, this change benefits me. My new appearance will help conceal my identity. Pity… the mark in my brow hasn't vanished. That shackle remains."
He put the mirror away, stood, and drove the Eight Spider Lances into the Ghost Vine's carcass.
After draining it, he clenched his fist. "Rank 72, nearly 73. Not bad."
'But with my current body, attaching another ring to the Clear Sky Hammer isn't worth it. A low-year ring would be a waste. Better to return to Slaughter City.'
'Complete the hundred victories, enter the Hell Road, and test if this Rakshasa God's trial is true.' He washed the filth from his skin with water from his storage, frowning at the sludge.
"These… all impurities buried in my body?" His brows knit tighter as he scrubbed faster.
After half an hour, he changed clothes, replaced his human-skin mask, and strode away.
Days later, in Slaughter City—
"What is this aura…? It feels like a soul beast." The Slaughter King, through the parasite bond, sensed the change within Tang San. "Could he be the offspring of human and beast, and his bloodline is awakening?"
He swirled his wine lazily, chuckling. "Interesting." He didn't press further. As long as the parasite remained, there was no need to worry.
Night passed quietly. The next day, screams echoed through the Hell Arena.
"Asura King, best of luck!" The Slaughter King's face was calm as he opened the entrance to the Hell Road.
Tang San said nothing, leaping straight in.
"Poison Corrosion Domain!" Green light surged, poison mist rolling out. A swarm of bats dropped from the air, shrieking.
Bang, bang, bang! After a brutal struggle, the Dark Gold Three-Headed Bat King plummeted into the abyss.
Tang San pressed onward, soon meeting the Ten-Headed Blazing Sun Snake. But as a Soul Saint, he no longer feared it. Summoning the Clear Sky Hammer and activating his domain, he crushed it swiftly. He pocketed the inner core and walked on.
'A fire beast… I won't risk devouring that.'
At last, he reached the end of the path. Lava roared around him, green light glowing in the distance.
'Head-to-head, I can't defeat the Slaughter King. But what if I poison him? Slaughter City's Blood Mary might well originate here… if so…' His eyes gleamed coldly.
"Poison Corrosion Domain!" He spread his domain wide, seeding the bloody magma with poison. Then he hurled in every useless Poison herb and beast venom pouch he had stored. His Wisdom Skull skill, Poison Transformation, flared as the fumes darkened.
Sickly green spread, staining the crimson flow, until it vanished—consumed by the endless sea of blood-lava.
"Time to leave." He fired the Zhuge Divine Crossbow to anchor vines, leaping up toward the cavern roof.
With a thud, he landed before a glowing passage. He stepped inside.
His vision blurred—an endless emerald world unfolded before him.
"Rakshasa God Nine Trials, First Trial: Perfectly Completed. Rakshasa God affinity increased by 5%. Extra reward: Rakshasa Domain."
The cold voice echoed in his head. His brow lit up, the black Clear Sky Hammer emerging on its own. Crimson patterns writhed, then were consumed by emerald glow, transforming into twisted green lines.
"It's real…" Tang San whispered, shock flashing in his eyes. Then more words resounded:
"Rakshasa God Nine Trials, Second Trial: Sacrifice. Slay the Slaughter King, Tang Chen. Devour his body, cultivation, and soul. Time limit: one year."
"What!?" Tang San's face twisted.
Tang Chen—his great-grandfather? The Slaughter King was his great-grandfather? Impossible!
'Could he be under control?' He thought of the parasite festering in his brow.
"If so… then whether I want to or not, he must die." His expression shifted between anguish and resolve, finally settling into grim determination.
"Great-grandfather… forgive me. If I don't kill you, both of us will remain puppets to this parasite. And the Clear Sky Sect's vengeance will never be avenged."
"Since sacrifice is inevitable… for my parents, for our sect's blood debt, I have no other choice."
He marched out of the glowing passage.
Back in Slaughter City, the Slaughter King summoned him at once. Tang San approached, but his brows furrowed as he drew near.
"Asura King… you didn't obtain the Death God Domain?"
